  • Spechless...WOW THANK YOU..

  • It's the life stream.

  • Breath taking beauty!

  • I have a question.

How did the ancient locals react to this phenomena?

I live in a tropical location so this is alien to me (and my ancestors).

  • @elkikex There are many different legends about how our ancestors reacted to auroras. It is said that the vikings thought it was reflections from dead maidens. Many stories include interpretations like that the auroras was a message from the gods that they were angry, or an omen of a coming plague. In Finland it was thought that the lights was created by Arctic foxes running high up in the north and touching the mountinas with its fur so that sparks fly off into the sky..

  • Thank u for uploading this...it's the best recent video online!plus, I loved your blog :) Keep up uploading videos like these for us that it's almost impossible to see for ourselves..

  • Wow. Just wow.

  • Thank you sooo much :-)

You are all so very kind - I wish you all clear skies and a happy weekend!

  • @AuroraPhoto did you add in the wind sounds? Even though it's called a "Solar Wind" you can't really hear it.

  • @northgt The wind-sound is from a separate uptake (a couple of days earlier).

  • @AuroraPhoto I wish I was there! Thank u so much for this amazing video...

  • SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPERB!!!!!!! WOW!!!! Congratulation on the video!

  • Is that shot as timelapse photography? If so, what length of interval are you shooting? Great stuff!

  • locazo

  • Awesome video! I was lucky enough to see the same storm here in the UK...

  • @DigitalBasics Wow, that`s fantastic! At it`s strongest we could "only" see it in the south up here, and I hear many people have seen it far south in Europe!

  • @AuroraPhoto I believe so...if you visit my home page (digital-basics-dot-com), you will see a link to some pics I've shared but by the time I arrived, the Lights were already retreating North....

  • Beautiful. Is it dark 24 hrs at this time of year or do you have 2 or 3 hours of light?

  • @Firewoman888 I actually saw the sun for the first time of the year today, but that , however, doesn`t mean it is dark all the time, it is "normal" daylight for 5-6 hours/day right now.

  • Great job! thanks for sharing!

  • Stupéfiant et beau! Waw

  • Amazing!!

  • Se ven increible esas auroras boreales.

  • Nope Jesus is coming back dressed as a ninja with a samurai sword and a colt .45 and riding a T-Rex

  • Fantastiske bilder! :)

  • La weva... parece que goku esta pidiendo energia para que hague su huevada jenkidama

  • ES VERDAD ESOO????':S

  • I saw them 4 nights including Kvaløya on Sunday 22nd Jan. very beautiful. Thank you for the video. x

  • That's fantastic! How much has it been sped up?

  • @Poromenos1 For various reasons, I had to keep the exposure times rather long for each individual frame, so in order to get a somewhat smooth motion, I had to speed it up. Personally, I don`t like speeded-up versions, but this was a first try, so next time I will post a time-lapse will be in real-time speed. The motion of an aurora display varies a LOT though, and some parts in the video are very close to real speed.

  • Amazing! Is it possible to predict when will happen? going to Lapland this year, and would love to see that!

  • @gileee3 There are lot of different aurora-forcasts. Google for spaceweather.

  • This is by far the best experience of the event I have been able to have the pleasure of viewing on the web thus far. Hands-down: excellent job & thank you so much! <3

  • @boomerat60 Thank you - I hope you get the chance to see the northern lights one day! It was a very cold night, but so beautiful that you almost forget that you freeze..

  • Breathtakingly Beautiful! This is on top of the 10 things I would like to see/do before I die list.

  • @dwilson94 I hope you will get to see the light one day - it can`t really be described with words, pictures or video. The reality is much more fantastic. I wish you all the best!

  • Thank you so much all of you! All your warm and friendly comments really help to keep warm out there in the bitter cold. I wish you all clear skies and, hopefully, some northern lights.

I have a lot to learn regarding time-lapse shooting before I can make the aurors ANY kind of justice, but this was a first try and I learned a lot of how to do it better next time.

All the best wishes from northern Norway!

    /Fredrik
