Working cockers. I just did a piece on the American cocker, and why it is a useless gun dog. I also am going to post this video to the blog to show what working cockers look like. In America, we have two breeds: the American and the English. The English has the working type as part of its breed. The show form of the English looks like small show English springer. The American looks like a poodle, but without the poodle's brains.

American cockers are terrible. They bite. And no one can tell me that all of that coat they have is useful in the field. It's a joke. I love working gun dogs, and I love how they vary in appearance. The working form of my chosen breed (golden retriever) is very rare in Europe and getting rarer in the US. Most people don't even know that they can still be used to retrieve shot ducks and gamebirds. But the ones that do that work are reddish in color and much more lightly built.
