Fantastic song by Christie! Still have it on '45'.
But how offensive it is to me that some musicians/artists give "live" performances and society tolerates or even welcomes it, where the music is dubbed! I would never want to go to a dubbed concert.
@southbayphotos Sometimes the decision is out of your hands. The TV company, ZDF, wanted this from every artist that day. There were around 30 acts if I remember correctly, ranging from Tony Sheridan, thru to Mungo Jerry, Desmond Decker etc. The logistics of mixing each band for a rapid-fire live TV show with one days rehearsal for camera positions, meant this was the only viable option. There are other vids here on Youtube, where we were on with one act, and we had the luxury of playing live!
@kevinandrewmoore - Kev, thanks so much for the insightful feedback! ... that clearly puts a different perspective about the actual circumstances. Keep gigin' (I'm a part-time musician too ;-)
This video is magnificant. It helps if your a musician to really appreciate the dynamics of this masterpiece. The drummer is A+! His rolls and technical achievements on this song are stunning. No one drums like that today!
The guitars are another story! After 38 years it doesn't lose a bit of it's force and it would be hard if not impossible for anyone today to put together something as
artistic as this. My uncle Joe called guys
like this "magicians" and I think he was right on! Kenn Wingle
Can't help but say it......I've loved this song since it came out in 1970! It brings so many good memories.... "Thanks Jeff"! Hope to see you in person or better yet in concert some day!
It's not live. It's the original recording.

My favorite song of all time since I first heard it in 1970. I wish I could see Jeff in person. Does he still perform now?

Actually, the music in this is dubbed. The Tremeloes recorded the music and Christie sang over it. I swear to God.

@cinematic35 only the singer was on this recording as the band was the 'tremeloes' supplying the music
