I dont wanna be an ass, but if you are familiar with calculating dates this is quite easy. Of course it isn't if you aren't. Unfortunately he didn't get all the years from 1930 to 2030 with 23rd of November as a Thursday. They are:

1933,1939,1944,1950,1961,1967,­1972,1978,1989,1995,2000,2006,­2017,2023,

2028

Once learned, you just need to practice to get faster.

But I'm impressed, that he went back to 1944 when he was about to say 1972 and recognized the sun-cycle which is 28 years long.
