  • I was 19 when this was released, I even bought the album.

  • A real man

  • This song makes me smile. I was 10 when this came out.

  • I think I have this on a Smash Hits! double LP in the loft. I recall Kylie & Jason being on the same compilation.

  • the 60's , 70's and 80's were the best time for music, tv and movies, and 1989 as far as i'm concerned was the last of the great times for the best music, peoples attitudes and musical tastes have changed and 1989 was the year i stopped being a teenager so when the 1990's came along music had changed with the times but never appealed to me personally because it simply never recaptured my youth and memories of that time, and sadly its been like that for the last 20 years, 60's 70's 80's were best

  • Actually, I always subconsciously associated Holly Johnson with 'The Riddler' from Batman 60s show... and I finally realised why at 1:02 - but I don't remember seeing this video!!!!

  • This video is so gay it would make Freddie Mercury vomit

  • The editor of this song copied and pasted "Riding the love train" 18 times, cannot stand this song, annoys me, repetitive.

  • doesnt this just make you smile

  • "up all night, up all night", hello Noel Gallagher.

  • I've been sitting outside on this very late summerday listening to this song for hours. What phenominal and quirky music! FGTH never did anything for me but I stumbled on Holly's solo stuff today for the first time and was really blown away. The flow is simply great along with the vocal harmonies and keyboard parts. Can't believe I've never heard it before!

  • thank you,Mr Holly....

  • Awesome SONG , but the video is Thomas the Tank , Meets Lazytown , Via The Riddler lol

  • one saturday night in late 1989 and the dancefloor was heaving at burberries niteclub, portrush, northern ireland with this tune blasting out over the speakers!!!!!

  • fuck

  • The video and mixes are available on DVD/CD ON The Cherry Red Delux Edition

  • I love that podgy lady, too bad she's married...

  • this song would be no1 today for 6 months , compared to some of the s h i t e thatsout now

  • @lufctildie People tell you "No, you'll look back and it'll be the same"; they're wrong. BBC 3(or is it 4?) are showing Top of the Pops every thursday, beginning with 1976. Classic unforgettable songs every week, the chart means nothing now, as it is decided by children who in the 70's would prefer The Wombles to David Bowie. The top 40 is meaningless now. Absolute bollocks...

  • Blast! was a brilliant pop album and any of the ten tracks could've been released as a single. Love Train reached #4 in the UK in 1989.

  • classic 80's and one of the best Holly songs ever!

  • I bought this because Brian May plays the guitar solo but the song became a favourite in its own right. Great pop song.

  • yup! It's the best and I truly feel this about my man. The funny thing is the line "you bring me flowers everday of my life" is literal because he raises orchids and there is always something blooming. :-)

  • 1989>>>>>smack!!!!!!!

  • Many thanks, GP44 i have subd you.

  • great song wow! cant believe I forgot about it! to funny!

  • such a great song, I cant believe I forgot about it:)

  • Help please, can not find the lyrics to this song anywhere, any help would be much appreciated.

  • elyrics.net/read/h/holly-johnson-lyrics/love-train-lyrics.html

  • Featuring guitar solo by Brian May from Queen.

  • Always get a smile when i listen to this track, its just a shame you dont hear it as often as we used to back in the day. AWESOME

  • i'm mourning to not have lived in the early 80s for such songs,

  • @SteveDEvD Be careful what you wish for, if we were in the early 80's we would have no...actually, you are right, I want the 80's back too!

  • Gold train

  • cool :)

  • I LOve this song. Greatest Artist in the 80s and ever

  • the special voice from holly johnson

  • How on Earth did Oasis get away with "Your music's shite, it keeps me up all night up all night"? There must have been a deal, otherwise it's plagiarism.

  • pity that holly johnson has left the music industry.

  • boa is das schlecht

  • this was played on the radio recently and it sounded just great. don't remember being particularly enamoured with it at the time. perhaps it was this crap video.

  • makes me proud to be gay

  • @ToxicTeddys I'd imagine it would, Holly has always seemed really cool to me, even when I was little and unaware of the boundaries that society imparts.

  • i've been a metal head for 25 years, but never stopped listening to the 80's stuff, love this tune, leaves you feeling happy and upbeat:)

  • Thanks for posting this, it takes me back to better times.

  • WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ON ABOUT??? Just listen ti Musix and if it makes you Happy Fuck Everyone? XX

  • I gotta say its strange. By the standards of most things going on at the time this is a bit of a low grade effort. However its still really dancable and got an interesting beat to it that makes it miles better than anything out these days! I think it because, ultimately, the original and the quirky has left music these days. Music is always self referential but everyone seems to have become so cloned into certain moulds these days.

  • Burgo1010 hows the cancer treatment going?

  • Great video and this tune went down well in the clubs back in 1989!

  • very gooddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • @

pinkandjefflynne what you doin here then hidin in ya closet lol, ffs crawl back under ya bed weak cunt

  • Takes it up the dirt tbox...

  • Classic <3

  • awesome tune :) bring back the eighties !!!

  • its sooooo coool

  • Makes me think of Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, tonight"

  • good arl brian may on guitar

  • This feels and looks much older then 21 years ago but its still a great tune

  • The story behind "Love train" is that he was actually booked on the Lockerbie flight but in the last minute he took a train instead and that´s why the song was written.....

  • Do you remember after the Lockerbie plane crash there was one Holly Johnson on the passenger list and for a short time media pumped out the rumour that it was the singer who had died in the disaster....?

  • brill.....wow so long ago..where did all the years go.....riding the love train:)

  • I don't want to believe that this was 21 years ago....!!!! Tune.

  • @Tobycek

I was going out with my 'High school sweet heart' back then to, gee must have been year 9 or 10, arhh, lovely girl she was. This song is a real feel good track

  • And are you still together? :-) My first love was by necessity a few years later than that (Dr Alban's "It's My Life" would have been the soundtrack), but still seems like an age ago now...

  • No we parted company after we finnished school boohoo. Still happy now tho.

  • I KNOW SOMEONE NAMED HOLLY JOHNSTON

  • i know holly johnson is gay but i like the lyrics to this song. its the feeling of the song, so no homophobia lol.

  • what does him being gay have to do with anything? why even mention it?

  • OMG, what a blast from the past!

  • had this album on vinyl, it wasnt too good to be honest, but this song stood out by miles...catchy song

  • mmm what about two tribes daksss ( mmm love your last three letters of your name lol

  • I've always ridden the hate train..but not outta choice

  • Yeah its a clingy sound. To bad he didnt make just another frankie goes to hollywood song, but only the one hit relax.

But a bit to late now :( But a fabolous artist.

  • What a tune....

  • i was 8 when then this charted. Love it!! now 28

  • The 80's we're full of such pop classics. What a shame all we get now is ( I use the term loosely ) talent show factory hens.

  • I agree, but i also think that pop is making a bit of a comeback. I mean we have Girls Aloud, Saturdays, Mini Viva, Pixie Lott for example.

  • he's handsome

  • Yep, I agree plus plus

  • Pop Perfection!!!

  • It's Brian May solo guitar

  • First found this song in May, listened to it 350 times since according to my computer --- got all his albums now... brilliant stuff

  • actually its just the same for me, i found it around may, listened 400 times, the song make me feel happy;)

  • yea he's AMAZING. i 'm only 22. wasn't even born when 'welcome to the pleasure dome' came out lol ha. im addicted to 'relax' and 'two tribes' at moment. watch the videos on 'virgin' music on demand. sammy x

  • I absolutely adore this song :D It gives me goosebumps! I love the 80's :D the best music and films were made back then!

  • @KirstyMcG87

    You're right.

  • Sensational stuff from Mr. Johnston

  • Just brilliant.....Holly's last excellent solo album ' Soulstream' is available to download on ITunes now.......

  • You know it...

  • This is the shit

  • Hi people where can I view Holy Johnsons song "Love will come"??? It's such a brilliant song and I cant seem to find it anywhere. Pleeze help.

  • I remember watching this video when I was little (8 or 9 years old) and really loving the video while watching. The eighties, sigh... what a great decade!

  • As you say, good times indeed...

  • Yeah, they should play this song more often on the radio.

  • Good times

  • Frankie & Holly are 80's legends & will always have a little space in my heart!!!

  • lol reminds me when I was about 10. Great song, great singer. I should imagine he's a really nice person. Well I saw him on a morning program once, and he seemed it anyway.

  • Holly should re-release this - it is fab.

  • According to Wikipedia he's still alive aged 48, great song.

  • ACE

  • Is Holly still alive, or has he been dead for years? It's a bit like Lord Lucan. He has been in his death throes for so long, according to the rumours.

I hope he is enjoying retirement in pleasant surroundings!

  • gradeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    LOVE TRAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN......the best

  • thx Holly, i finally feel & know to whom girl this song all belongs - was planted in my heart all the years 'til she came along

  • Funky Vid. Holly's Ok, doing quite well at age 48

  • quality with a capital Q

    WHATS HOLLY DOING NOWADAYS?

  • dying last time i heard, sorry. He may be in the last stages of aids i think unless someone else can prove me wrong??

  • Holly Johnson is not in his last death throws from AIDS,,, he in fact has HIV which is and has been contained by medical science for the last 10 yrs. Holly is now a world renowned sought after painter who's works sell for a minimum of £30,000

  • i in fact know he has hiv, and i am quite aware that medical science has moved on and are capable of alot more than 17 yr ago when freddie died of it. But last i heard he was too sick to do any public apperances, and was very ill. His health might have got better by this time. But many were saying he was on his last legs.

  • Great video.Made me smile.

  • Brian May even!

  • Brian My makes this song.

  • he CAN dance !!! :o)

  • I remember taping this from the Chart Show when it was released. Great song from a great performer and a hundred times better than most of the shit being released today.

  • brilliance ...

  • love it

  • back in the 80´s i was i big fan of holly and i still am love his music and the way he moves

  • the best of the 80s

  • love the way he dances 2 this!

  • yup... cool... wish I could dance like that!

  • holly johnson is great!

  • Holly who ??? Sully (tyre man )

  • Excellent video great song 10***thank you for sharing and posting GOD BLESS

  • one of the few highlights , among i may add the brilliant ''americanos'' of a not very memorable pop music decade , the pretty bland 80's

  • where were in the 80s living under a rock ? the best music decade ever . i love the 80s

  • i think i'd rather live under a rock for 10 years than have to listen to a lot of the forgetful mush that was played in that decade, for me it was like fancy clothes , image , make up and trying to look slick for 2 minutes or so on an MTV video rather than been creative and talented.Love or hate the punks a few years earlier but they were exciting and unique. Also bands that were fabulous in the 70's such as Queen and even Pink Floyd had started to sound jaded.just my opinion for what it's worth

  • Forgive me, i appreciate you are entitled to your opinion , but why are you listening then? Bands / Artists such as Duran Duran, ABC , Madonna, wham, Culture club to name a few ... are/were hardly forgetful mush, uncreative or untalented.

E.g. Holly Johnson was very successful and creative with Frankie Goes to Hollywood, also as a solo artist and after his music career he is now a successful ARTIST (paintings),surely he would be considered'CREATIVE'?

But obviously this is just my opinion!

  • i am listening owing to the fact that even in a decade i regard as poor as the 80's there has to be a handful of gems in the space of 10 years.I guess i was spoilt growing up while The Beatles were around and The Stones were at their peak plus the Motown scene.Later came David Bowie's Ziggy period,Floyds DSOTM ,Led Zep,Queen's Rhapsody + all their best classics ,Elton's GYBR album and Candle in the Wind era .I could go on .Madonna is an exception i'll admit though she got better in the 90's

  • iv herd this down the gym twice now,

and it allways seemed to hit the spot!

    had 2 look it up.

  • i think i still have this on record,,and the americanos one,,,12 inch singles,,,

  • I thought he was dead. Hiv used to be a death sentence.

  • enlightened!

  • This is great song for dance floor

  • Brian May on guitar detail.

  • My God your one sad ignorant prick, it's amusing when you hear a gobshite like you describe Holly as talentless, he's had untold hit records and brought pleasure into millions of peoples lives, what have you ever done? go and wallow in your own shit.

  • why on earth would you be watching this if you think so badly of him.....makes you wonder? lol.....

  • I'M not gay, but I can appreciate that HOLLY came up with some good stuff.

  • the muts nutts or the dogs bo**ocks, however u wanna put it :D. LOVE IT!
