This is a beautiful song written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. I heard them speak and they originally wrote this song for George Benson and needed a singer for the demo. James Ingram was a back up singer at the time and was recommended to them. He arrived and was warming up his voice in an adjoining room.
