Just did the dragon on a 2001 Honda Valkyrie Interstate, riding on the back. My dad is going to have to get a new bolt for his highway pegs.. he took it at 80 mph when he went back by himself! Nothing left of the bolt!

I was traveling to Tennessee and lost in the mountains because I40West was blocked off due to a rock slide. I ask for directions to get to Knoxville, Tn and they directed me to The Tail og The Dragon. I made it through but it was a hell of a ride. It was raining but I just drove slow and braked a lot. I was riding in my car. This was on Christmas Eve.

i drove part of this last weekend! unfortunately it was raining so couldn't go very fast. i was in a C6 vette, so my goal was to not get passed by any bikes. I held my own but you guys are crazy fast on there!
About the join a race team comment. I was the lead bike, an FZ1, which I've sold now to afford racing my CBR1000. 3rd in National Championship race last year in over 40 novice. Now 4th in points in expert in the mid-central WERA region. And it IS more satisfying than Deal's Gap ever was! Going to Nationals in 3 weeks in Expert this year at Road Atlanta. I drove the Tail on Friday. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. I was following some dude wearing a "Coastal Cycle" T-Shirt. The guy was a wimp....never got the bike over 25 miles per hour the whole way and had about 20 people lined up behind him. What a JERK.
As you say you drove the Tail leads me to think that you where in a car because if you was on a bike you would have rode the Tail. However this guy in the Coastal T-shirt was on a bike and had the balls to ride the Tail no matter how slow, so this leads me to the conclusion that you are the Pussy

Just got back from there a few weeks ago. amazing ride. To those who havent been there its a must. just try to get there early before all the damn cops and harleys. and try to go on a weekday. Ride of my life for sure.
Yea i got tips for getting that low. watch others and learn from them. If you are new to riding, dont get your hopes up on dragging knee soon. it takes time to learn the limits of YOUR riding and the limits of the bike you choose to drive. Look far into the turn (not directly ahead of you) and keep calm, the more nervous you become the more likely you are to go down. hope that was of help
smooth ride! never had a chance to drag my knees yet. being short does not help me drag my knees during corners on 04 tuono. admire your corner lines and smoothness.
Just back from riding the Dragon tail, that is a crazy ride. There were four bikes that went down while we were their and three had to go to the Hospitial. It was a busy weekend "Memorial day weekend" It was fun and a challenge. One misgtake and you go over the edge or meet head on with another biker coming from the other dirrection. I think bikers make good prayers. Be safe
Route 129, south of Knoxville, near the Smokey mountains. If you go, you HAVE to check out the Cherohala skyway, which leads to the tail of the dragon, from Tellico, TN (or vice versa). Hellbender, route 28 would be good to check out too.
I road the dragon about 8 times. I used to watch this video all the time, but now that the song has changed, it kind of takes away from the energy of the road. I know it sounds crazy, but the other song made me remember all the adrenaline i had pumpin through me when i raced up this road. Now i just get sleepy watching it!

dude what tire pressure and tires are you running. I hear most guys at the track that r running 2cts run 30 psi front and back. Just curious as to what you and the camera man were running?
Well i was running Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro Race SC2, sorry to get so specific :) but at cold measurement about 28-30. I am not sure what the camera man was running but know psi was about 28-30 as well.

I've heard for years about this stretch of road, But it is by no means the killer I've heard about. Want to really test your mettle and abilities, go to Sturgis and Thread the Needle. Its about the same length but full of switch backs, drop offs the side of the mountain with few guard rails, 7 one lane tunnels with 90 degree blind entrances and switch backs on a grade that will turn your stomach inside out. Now that is fun on a full dresser loaded with all your gear and a passenger to boot.

Greetings from Akron, Ohio (The home of King James haha!). I can't wait to ride The Dragon! All we have around here is the Cuyahoga Valley. It's a national park that stretches from Akron to Cleveland. It's got some decent corners, but nothing at ALL like The Dragon! Will be at The Dragon in the spring! Can't wait! Ride safe every1!
Agh I love the Gap! Wouldnt want to visit any where else. C.Skyway is another great place just down the road. They should pass a law there stating that cagers have to pull over and let bikes pass them. Great railing video!
The "dragon" is a great ride but I was up there the first week of heavy enforcment last year, and it was a drag. For those interested, check out "Hungery Mother Run" out of Tazwell VA. It sadles over 3 ridges and run for about 30 miles. Use care, not for the faint of heart (If I remember right, it is State Route 152)
The road is I went down to the Dragon this past summer and we ended up taking this route. Personally I think it was a lot better than the Dragon. Less traffic but more rocks on the road. If you're riding in northern Michigan, stop in the Victory dealer in Mio and say hi.
11 miles, then there is 50 miles of the cherohala out of Robbinsville (below the Gap) and 28 which they call the Hellbender which cruises down the Dragon and past Fontana Dam. Great riding day

I was up there for the first time last Sunday. It's a good road but way too many people. I had a better time on some of the roads getting there then I did on the dragon. Too many cops too many people.
Wot a Road!!! We got Mt. Mee/Mt. Glorious & Mt. Tambourine down here in Brisbane, Australia. For most of us those mtn runs are hot. Deals Gap is fantastic! Makes me feel all inspired to fly over there just to ride that beast!
I have a ZX12r'06, and a CBR600'98. Ride everyday- no "cage" 'ere mate... W/ends are my playground. Over the border Rathdowney/Uki are good trax, & the Hinz dam for speedway.

some of my friends don't really like it but I do.
I like the fact you don't have to do more than 40-45 to have some real good fun and get some great lean angles.
it's no track and def isn't as fun as one either. but for a nice weekend getaway it's superb.
take a map with you and head down into Gerogia. the gap isn't the only great ride there.

Just got back from there a few weeks ago. amazing ride. To those who havent been there its a must. just try to get there early before all the damn cops and harleys. and try to go on a weekday. Ride of my life for sure.

sounds better than shindown for a vid. hard rock music is annoying when your trying to get a feel of the road on a vid.
something soothing is better.
it is like trance when i race on tracks...just keeps me tuned in, but not pissed off.

Yea i got tips for getting that low. watch others and learn from them. If you are new to riding, dont get your hopes up on dragging knee soon. it takes time to learn the limits of YOUR riding and the limits of the bike you choose to drive. Look far into the turn (not directly ahead of you) and keep calm, the more nervous you become the more likely you are to go down. hope that was of help

smooth ride! never had a chance to drag my knees yet. being short does not help me drag my knees during corners on 04 tuono. admire your corner lines and smoothness.

take your time and don't force it! Go ride with someone who is dragging knee and watch them...... good luck and ride safe.

If you slow or speed the song by 5%, it avoids most of the detectors, so I'm told. Be careful out there, fellas, great riding!

Just back from riding the Dragon tail, that is a crazy ride. There were four bikes that went down while we were their and three had to go to the Hospitial. It was a busy weekend "Memorial day weekend" It was fun and a challenge. One misgtake and you go over the edge or meet head on with another biker coming from the other dirrection. I think bikers make good prayers. Be safe

Route 129, south of Knoxville, near the Smokey mountains. If you go, you HAVE to check out the Cherohala skyway, which leads to the tail of the dragon, from Tellico, TN (or vice versa). Hellbender, route 28 would be good to check out too.

I road the dragon about 8 times. I used to watch this video all the time, but now that the song has changed, it kind of takes away from the energy of the road. I know it sounds crazy, but the other song made me remember all the adrenaline i had pumpin through me when i raced up this road. Now i just get sleepy watching it!

Yeah I will have to agree with you. I loved the old music but YouTube took the video down temporarily until I chose music with no Copyright. If anyone has any suggestions for music I am all ears. I just chose the first song on the list. AudioSwap doesn't have that great of a selection. Thanks for watching the video.

dude what tire pressure and tires are you running. I hear most guys at the track that r running 2cts run 30 psi front and back. Just curious as to what you and the camera man were running?

Well i was running Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro Race SC2, sorry to get so specific :) but at cold measurement about 28-30. I am not sure what the camera man was running but know psi was about 28-30 as well.

I love this video and kind of figured there was a possible copyright infringement with the music. Funny thing is, I purchased all 3 songs from I-Tunes, so Shinedown should thank you and let sleeping dogs lie! Hope to get to the dragon this May.

I've heard for years about this stretch of road, But it is by no means the killer I've heard about. Want to really test your mettle and abilities, go to Sturgis and Thread the Needle. Its about the same length but full of switch backs, drop offs the side of the mountain with few guard rails, 7 one lane tunnels with 90 degree blind entrances and switch backs on a grade that will turn your stomach inside out. Now that is fun on a full dresser loaded with all your gear and a passenger to boot.

Guys, Nice ride. Hope someday i can ride in this great road. I've heard lot of stories, mostly good ones. You should try Espinazo del Diablo (Devil's Backbone)in Mexico. Rd. is between Durango and Mazatlan Cities. My club in Mexico rides every year for the Mazatlan Bike week. I live in Minnesota now & i a planning on going to Mazatlan in 2009. Greetings from Akron, Ohio (The home of King James haha!). I can't wait to ride The Dragon! All we have around here is the Cuyahoga Valley. It's a national park that stretches from Akron to Cleveland. It's got some decent corners, but nothing at ALL like The Dragon! Will be at The Dragon in the spring! Can't wait! Ride safe every1!

Agh I love the Gap! Wouldnt want to visit any where else. C.Skyway is another great place just down the road. They should pass a law there stating that cagers have to pull over and let bikes pass them. Great railing video!

The "dragon" is a great ride but I was up there the first week of heavy enforcment last year, and it was a drag. For those interested, check out "Hungery Mother Run" out of Tazwell VA. It sadles over 3 ridges and run for about 30 miles. Use care, not for the faint of heart (If I remember right, it is State Route 152)

The road is I went down to the Dragon this past summer and we ended up taking this route. Personally I think it was a lot better than the Dragon. Less traffic but more rocks on the road. If you're riding in northern Michigan, stop in the Victory dealer in Mio and say hi.

11 miles, then there is 50 miles of the cherohala out of Robbinsville (below the Gap) and 28 which they call the Hellbender which cruises down the Dragon and past Fontana Dam. Great riding day

I was up there for the first time last Sunday. It's a good road but way too many people. I had a better time on some of the roads getting there then I did on the dragon. Too many cops too many people.

Wot a Road!!! We got Mt. Mee/Mt. Glorious & Mt. Tambourine down here in Brisbane, Australia. For most of us those mtn runs are hot. Deals Gap is fantastic! Makes me feel all inspired to fly over there just to ride that beast!
I have a ZX12r'06, and a CBR600'98. Ride everyday- no "cage" 'ere mate... W/ends are my playground. Over the border Rathdowney/Uki are good trax, & the Hinz dam for speedway.
You lot have got it!!! Love your track. Cars should be BANNED... Bikes only. ;-)
