If you were a musician you wouldn't say that bunch of nonsense. No other band in the world has produced the quality of music PL has produced. It's a band with around 60 hits, something only accomplished by a few others (Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode). Only a musician knows how hard is to write outstanding songs for a long period of time. PL don't seem to quit doing that yet.
This is the highest moment in the doom genre. With Icon this kind of music reached the top, the highest place possible. Simply unreachable , no other band could get even close
@MrJordang73 I got three words for you: My Dying Bride. I'm not taking anything away from PL - they're a great band, one of the best. But to say that NO band could get even close is incorrect. MDB not only gets close, their body of work is more consistent, and overall with more depth.
National Acrobat, Black Sabbath, from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album, and some riffs from And Justice for all !..! Paradise Lost are true Giants of Metal
can't believe the difference in just four short years from that time.

The riff that starts at 3:33 is awesome!
It reminds me some Tony Iommi`s riffs.

That's not a surprise - '''Shades of God'' is very traditional doom metal influenced. Great stuff though!

Shades of God and Gothic are their best albums.
First 4 albums are their best times. This was the opening in germany MTV gave this live show, in October 1993. PL rules.
