thanks for your inquiry - we don.t recommend using it inverted for black tea as it is not safe - steaming hot tea leaves would open with the metal basket handled burired in them to pull it out - pls do not brew this way in the glass `n glass models
i LOVE my Libre that i received as a speaker gift at the WOTGG conference. I've been enjoying Gypsy Rose Tea samples i also received at the conference. YUM. Thanks for your gift. It is already number one on my list of gifts to give to freinds.
@Outrageousjoy thanks for your comment and so glad you enjoy your Libre tea glass - wth its non-porous glass interior it cabn be used for all to go beverages with no flavour transfer after cleaning with warm soapy wtr - may we tweet your gift comment:)?
I bought one of these and was delighted with it until a month later, when it somehow broke and the liquid in the main compartment somehow leaked into the other compartment and I couldn't get it out. I still want one, but I'm going to save the guarantee next time.
glad we can say that we were able to contact amayane and replace her Libre tea glass - we are working to ensure the seal between the glass and polycarbonate cannot be compromised.
The green tea you were brewing-- I would still make it a limited brew-time,&, definitely, only use Warm water. (i.e., pour cold water initially over leaves for 30% of volume while filling glass; remaining 70% can be "boiling"). The reason not to use all boiling water on green tea is that it turns the green tea bitter...a primary reason a lot of people dislike green tea! Made w/'steaming"water, it's v. tasty!
~~My black tea brewed beautifully. I think it's the perfect size &very nicely designed. The screw threads& materials are very well thought-out. Seems quite rugged with the double layer inner-glass / outer-poly. Keep lid screwed during durability testing, very strong. My one quibble is perhaps even more space for the tea leaves in brew basket, w/even tighter weave. It's roomy enough, tho, for good tea leaf expansion. (Heck, I always want more!) Great Christmas Gift for (future) tea lovers.
Doesn't the tea get bitter after awhile with the leaves sitting in the liquid?

Can you use the black tea style of steeping for the glass and glass model too?

Brilliant design: Simple & elegant.

Genius-like, Libre accommodates all these modes!
