I did this today and my hair is truly moisturized! I only did 2 passes though. My old flat iron did not have a dial to control the temp, so I had to lock it off several times so it didnt get too hot.
Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much. I did this with my own choice of protein conditioner and moisture conditioner with the method you used and my hair is now balance even after every wash. I love this and this method is definately a staple for life. I tried this before a different way and this method that you have shown us is awesome. My hair loves you for this and it thriving and shining through. Keep on doing what you do cause you got it girl Thanks a million again.
I'm sorry but its like you have no sence why on earth are you going to cover ur flat irons with foil like come on who in there right mind does that's it makes out that you don't no what your foing I'm just sayiing #
@bysolo You sound like you don't have any "sence" (FYI: it's actually "sense"). the purpose of covering the flat iron with foil is to prevent the full amount of heat going onto your hair. Flat irons are geared to use as much heat as possible to straighten ones' hair. With this deep conditioning method the flat iron is just being used to use the heat from the device in order to allow the conditioner to penetrate into the deepest levels of the hair shaft.
@bysolo I think you need to do more research before you just say things :). I agree with Angelfaye. If you haven't tried it or don't want to, or have not research then don't speak about it or make assumptions. I do it when my hair is really dry ,did this treatment today and love it.
@SwytSha actually ive been experiencing a lot of breakage and i didnt know what i was doing wrong. i was deep conditioning WITH A BAGGY under a dryer and it was still breaking. low and behold after using this method one time my breakage completely stopped. dont knock something you havent tried. it makes hair feel amazing.
Love moptop, she's the bomb! This treatment is sooooooo good for my hair, thank you thank you for showing this. I clean my hair and while its damp, i apply sebastian 2+1 and layer it with giovanni deep conditioner. Then iron it. The results, shinier and softer hair. Loves it.
@princessgboro the steam from the flat iron is opening the hair's cuticle so that it can soak in all the moisture and whatever else the conditioner has in it
I tried this and my hair just felt hot with conditioner on it. I know i made some mistakes, but overall i dont think id do it again. I prefer conditioning with a cap and a towel
I know you're probably not a professional, but maybe you can still answer this question. I normally put cholesterol & oil on dry hair & set under a dryer for about 30 min. before I shampoo/co-wash. I then apply a conditioner for about 30 min. Do you think if I tried this method for my last conditioning step that it would be too much heat? I want to try this because my hair IS dry & brittle & I'm only 9 weeks post relaxer.
Love your blogs and videos by the way! I am going to try out some of your tips. I love trying and teaching new things to myself and my clients!! Keep you the good work!!!!
sized towel and wrap your head to trap the heat...Let sit for about 15mins and rinse and style as usual. I am a licensed stylist specializing in natural hair, and this is a DIY tool i recommend to my clients in between services or those who can afford to purchase a personal steamer of there own...This can be done on a weekly basis or as needed...Try it and let me know how it works!
Try this alternative, its safer for your hair and more effective: Boil a pot of water( this is good because the water becomes distilled and removes any hard water minerals from the tap or you could just use bottled water) place a hand towel in the boiled water for about 2 mins( be CAREFUL of the hot water) once you have your chosen condition in your hair, take the handtowel out of the water, ring it out well and place on top of your hair then cover with a plastic cap. Then you can wrap a regular
I love your hair and you hair looks so healthy and shiney. I am currently transiting to natural and I been relaxer free for two months so far ya and never going back. I have been having problems with finding a product that can keep my hair moisturized. I wanted to knew what product you use on your hair to keep it looking moistured? Thanks for sharing your video it has really helped me.
I am trying to cut down on tangles and knots when I wash my hair. Would you recommend washing your hair in twists or loose after this deep conditioning? I love your hair. It looks so healthy. Thank you for sharing.
I did this and I know it wasn't supposed to loosen the curl pattern but it did.
I looked into the comments and didn't get the answer on whether to do it on dry or damp hair.. so I did it on damp hair. Maybe thats the reason why, I don't know ...
Also my flat iron was only at 150 degrees so really I don't know what cause the change in my curl pattern. I hope it will revert back......
Keep the great tutorials coming....
And lastly, lol... You look very young, I thought that you were 20 or 21
@DakaraiDada 150 degrees is not high enough to create any heat damage. If your hair is well condition, if will appear more stretched.Anything over 400 might result in some damage!
This is so great. I have to try this next time i wash my hair. Besides the conditioner, is your hair wet? What is the temperature setting of the flat iron?
@Wocky741 LOL ok. Although it is hard finding music that is royalty free [using copyrighted music can get your vid banned in certain countries], so in order to make sure everyone gets to see my vids, I have to use music I own the rights to.
Great idea, I would assume that this treatment is similar to using a hair steamer. I love your hair, have you tried Miss Jessies or Kinky Curly Custard and Knot today. I think either one of those products would help define your beautiful curl pattern for a quick wash and go type style, if you do please do a tutorial, I would love to see the results. Your hiar length is my goal length..I'm almost there! Thanks for sharing
@Mhughley Exactly, it is very similar to using a hair steamer! - Good luck on almost reaching your hair goal!!! I have tried Miss Jessie's for the wash and go, but I don't think I have the technique down just yet. And I need to revisit the Kinky Curly because the last time I used it, I was a bit heavy handed.

@08sophisticated I'm guessing the foil is to prevent the conditioner she put in her hair from getting on the flat iron.

What is the flat iron set to?
Talqu1lla 1 year ago
@Talqu1lla Iron is set to 250 [usually the lowest setting] It should be warm to the touch after the foil is applied. You should be able to touch the foil with your hands without burning yourself.
MopTopMaven 1 year ago
is this done on wet or dry hair?
monicalake84 1 year ago
@monicalake84 Done on damp hair w/conditioner on it. Your iron should be warm to the touch; mine is set on 250 w/ about 2 layers of foil wrapped around. The purpose is to use the heat to open the cuticle. It conditions more than a heating cap, or dryer because you are going down each section of hair versus allowing steam to penetrate the traditional way.
