I don't think it actually has a lot to do with the bashing; it's more that Ulli doesn't want to be labeled as gay, because he's not sure he is, but everyone keeps pushing it on him. Apparently bisexuality isn't an option...
I think it was both, label and its consequences. He should get used to it that people love labels and must have labels. If they break up it will be quite silly, because some bloody label is more important to him than a relationship. It reminds me of Craig from HO a bit, only he had a lot of other issues on top of that.

At the end Ulli told Tom that he's not sure if their relationship has a future. So we'll have to wait till tomorrow to see if they really break up.
