  • I know it's a GOOD car. But it's DAMN BORING. Peugeot 508 please!!!

  • me too hate his british accent

  • weird accent....cant understand his english....grrrr

  • Front and side styling is just mid 90s... so cheap looking TBH

  • @shoelace510 you think that's cheap... take a look at what North America calls a "Passat".

  • i hate volkswagen cars. Because they got high prices than they deserve. They are still using the "german car" myth and dumb people still belive it!!!

  • @atimetowork i bet half your family lifes here in germany so be nice to us and our cars otherwise we become a shitty banana republic like your country and then we all come to life in your house.^^

  • @swunt10 first of all my family and i don't live in your ass-hole country. and you're not the owner of vw company. what's your problem loser? get a life.

  • Comment removed

  • @swunt10 Actually, Germany is already a banana republic with people like you.

  • @atimetowork troll troll troll keep on trolling...

  • @atimetowork troll roll keep on trolling..

  • Why is there such a huge transmission tunnel when it's a fwd? Weird..

  • Vw passat or Volvo s60?? So hard to make a decision... :/

  • this is starting to look like a luxury class wagon! :o

  • Boring

  • Yuck. How

  • jetta is better... more sportier....

  • Im thinking on buying the passat, although i will have to stretch out my budget a bit i believe im making the right choice as the C class A4 and 3 series low end versions are severely lacking yet higher priced than the passat. Skoda superb is also on my list but i do not like the rear of the car looks fugly to me.

Nissan teana/altima is also on my list though its a bit overpriced.

  • @Killzon3commander Don´t go for a Nissan unless it is one of the top models. That`s my advice...had a bad experience with them since Renault took them over.

  • This looks different than American 2012 Passat.

  • Hey, This passat looks funny. It carries the front face and tail light of the new American passat, but it has the same body as the last generation passat! hmm....

  • Boring clothes to match boring car!

  • He said VW Solidity and then tapped the interior's horrible cheap thin plastic.

  • why does it have the transmission tunnel...it should be front traction?am i right?

  • i like the passat, looks good, comfortable, and isn't a guel guzzler

  • you are reapeating...the same arguments used in review previous passat - meaning that material of dashboard, and comparing with insignia

  • VW soliditiy? When he patted his hand on the dash tunnel it sounded plastic and hollow as any cheap car.

  • Uhm...if the trunk opens when you wave your footh underneath it...wouldn't it be pretty easy for someone to steal your stuff when you're shopping and the car is parked?

  • @diiebane I imagine the key needs to be near by

  • @diiebane you need to have your key remote in the detection area

  • This car was chosen for the America's " 2012 Car of the year "

  • @Dosalt The American version is different, it's a special version for the American market.

  • wtf he is driving on the wrong side?

  • This guy loves his side door bins. lol.

  • does anyone knows where this passat is produced.i like it a lot,as much as i like superb 2.please someone tell me where this car is made.

  • @nela106 passat is german ,and skoda is made in czech , but both under the flag of VW

  • In the U.S Volkswagen loses so much value and they aren't reliable.. and their cheap boring cars.

  • @SeadGBosnia: Funny how so many vw complaints come out of the US, almost like you folks get lower quality vehicles..

  • @mozaks80 Probably... Because Honda and Toyota pretty much dominate.. and over their it's the exact opposite! Check out the US version of Honda.com type it in google..and you will see.

  • that boot open method is such a good idea. just wish they spent as much innovation designing the exterior looks of the car.

  • I'm 6'1" and my head was touching the roof in the back. I hate that, the skoda superb has loads more head room.

  • How to know there i s camera or no ?

  • I think someone got confused and the superb was supposed to be a Passat haha.

  • @vrs2011man you do realize that the Skoda is basically a Passat. First its basically a rebadged Passat since well VW owns Skoda. But yes Skoda seems better

  • This 2011 right ? I have passat 2006 it is don't have camera !!

  • @fresawqqa i hav 1999 it is have camera!

  • This has an electronic parking brake... eww! I much prefer a traditional handbrake-style parking brake.

  • The car is made nicly, but it's just a very boring looking car.

  • Can you flip the video for the US viewers?

  • how much is the standard model ?

  • What I don't like about English cars is that the fellow-passenger always has to drive! ;-)

  • Why not any vlolvo reviews! :<

  • vauxhall insignia may look good on the inside but fit isn't good down wards ans plastics are also hard. Overall it is a bit better than the passat though and doesn't bore you...

  • It really is ugly in the front. Almost offensivily ugly for any buyer

  • Actually that feels almost as heavy as a medieval drawbridge :)

This is why i prefer watching Carbuyer videos :)

  • A very nice video nice presentation. Congratulations..

  • лучшая машина

  • ugly!

  • cool classy car without looking like an audi or bmw douchebag

  • 2012 motortrend car of the year here in the states. :0

  • come on man, you should have said something about the new fender sound system. apart from that, great review :)

  • Keep in mind people, the European Passat isn't the same as the Americanize version. Sure looks wise but like he said its really the last version but just "updated." The American Passat from my understanding is a new platform and of course cheapen' out. :(

  • love this mate!!

  • If you are going to own one like I do, be careful with the poor quality on the lower internal plastics. The noise coming from them is unacceptable starting from the very first mile...

  • The new VW Passat looks exellent in White.

  • This is a good car but its forms do not like !

  • that boot/trunk thingy is very dangerous if you accidentally left your car unlocked.

  • Love your reviews mate!! very casual critique!! I enjoy watching em!!

Love this car just the fact that you can open the boot with your foot.hilarious but ingenious!!

  • @SypherDubstep good to know. what model?

  • Quite similar key connection as Aston Martin's

  • VW makes great cars!

  • I like this guy a lot, and I love these reviewes! They are decent!

  • The USA version is much larger.

  • @Toni7859 Actually, they are the same, in terms of size.

  • @NathanaelsFilms - how strange, the USA version looks much longer.

  • @Toni7859 Of course, every single American car is massive. That's why some European SUV's are built in America, and normal sized American family cars are bult in Europe!

  • g-day mate!

  • can you please make a review of the Hyundai i40? thx

  • doesnt anyone else think the front end specially the headlights of this new passat look like the dodge avenger? lol

  • love your reviews from morocco !!

  • It`s pretty anoying how the Golf, the Scirocco, the Passat, the Touareg, and the Tiguan look ALL the same in these new generations, in my rearview mirror i can`t distinguish...

  • I think this car is for business men with chauffeurs in China or maybe the Phaeton.

  • How does it warn the driver if he's about to fall asleep???

  • The best of the bunch is Skoda Superb - nothing under £30,000 has beaten it yet, it is Auto Express family car of the Year 3 years running, is No.1 in driver power survey, and has beaten the new passat, new Mondeo, everything. Skoda Superb is better quality too.

  • Comment removed

  • @GamerAndReviewer If the comments are by users called The Forza1000 or pinin500, he is a troll who owns a 10 year old Alfa Estate and is just having a go at Skoda. I have never heard of any Superb problems, if you buy Jetta, you are going down a class - buy an octavia, they are better than Jetta. I cannot comment on Giulietta having not owned one, but they are in the class below Superb also. Skoda has beaten all other makes in UK in 3 consumer tests last year alone.Your choice.

  • @vrs2011man Skoda Octavia, sold as laura over here is ridiculously overpriced.

Superb on the other hand is just plain awesome. but laura no/

  • @vrs2011man keep in mind vw makes the superb

  • @gadgetguy4000 No, Skoda makes the Superb in Skodas own factories. VW just owns Skoda like they do Audi, Lamborghini, SEAT, Bentley etc. Each brand builds their cars in their own factories, VW just share platforms/engines etc.Skoda make the DSG gearboxes for the VAG group.

  • mondeo is alot better :)

  • vw is bad!

  • The new passat looks gay and old doesent look expensive how ever the passat 2006 looks much better fck u vw fr this desgin

  • Vw passat or the peugeot 508 ??

  • @ladeninlogen passat os course! you can not even compare french with germans

  • @ladeninlogen Skoda Superb -it's beaten both of them in every road test. Also its 2011 Auto Express Family car of the Year for the 3rd year running - they cannot fault it :-) 508 looks ok, but quality is rubbish, VW Pasat is same price as the Superb, but nowhere near as good.

  • @vrs2011man Superb is cheaper! Which is just another plus point =P

  • @vrs2011man ladeninlogen if you didn't know superb and passat are the same two cars....... not design but skoda is making volkswagen's cars

  • @moris991 Actually, it's platform sharing. Skoda isn't just making VW's cars, Skoda build their own cars using some VW parts/engines/platforms etc. Superb is better than Passat, a point highlighted by the fact that middle-management are replacing their Passats with new Superbs. Both are very good cars, but Superb is still class-leader.

  • @vrs2011man if skoda has some adventages over passat it certainly doesn't mean that 'passat is nowhere near' especially about the looks which is on passat's side

  • @TheKenjoje 'advantages'

  • I thumb up every video with Matt in it.

  • I just bought this car ,I got to say that this car is amazing .just what I need in a car .nice power ,so sooo comfortable, soundless car ride .I thought of buying the ix35 and happy I didn't !!!

  • Might get the tdi version, much more reliable

  • Is it me or does the front of this passat remind u of a Honda accord??

  • great reviews ....but VW sux ..... .I would prefer a Honda Accord which is more reliable car and it has a lot of options in standard.....

  • @oeylabot shut the hell up. Passat is way better.

  • Great car!... it seems simple and noble. Simplicity means QUALITY!...

  • Wow i want it in Thailand

  • The best car reviewer ever!

  • what what what??? insignia has better interiors than the passat?!?!?!?! rolf best joke ever... only audi a4 has better quality interiors than the passat

  • Why is there a transmission tunnel when it's FWD?

  • @tobearockstar0706

There is a transmission tunnel because there are also 4wd versions. If that's one of the few negatives he can come it with it must be pretty good.

  • they royally screwed up with the seats - i mean i drive the b6 and why would they make the new ones worse? doesnt make any sense... well good for me then.

  • Excellent review, normal car:)

  • and who sit in the middle you dumb ass english freak

  • @dodo1702005 like he said. a 3rd person... idiot

  • fuck vw seats very comfy from inside and have a good handling

  • Clean design, I like that.

  • ugly car, b6 looks so much better...

  • Y did they put the steering wheel on the wrong side?

  • @gene978 This is the UK version of the car, We drive on the other side of the road :)

  • @gene978 It is at the right side

  • he's got a bit of clarkson in him..!

  • This is a really excellent video, I'm expecting more other reviews from carbuyer.

  • Volkswagen now makes extremely ugly rear...thats my only complaint for Passat, Passat CC and Touareg. The rest are good.

  • Only if your cat happens to have the keys hooked to its collar.

  • @geordo2001 hehehe

  • The car is nice, the review is great, but I wish I had that shirt.

  • On the car tested here the wavvy foot boot opening wouldn't work, for this to work you would need keyless entry / start, which if fitted would have a start stop button to the right hand side of the gear lever.

I think there was a little off camera jiggery pokery on the middle button of the remote when he waved his foot under.

    Caught you ;-)

  • You may need to have the key on you, in order to make it open that way.

  • Seems it was done by a completely different team of people than the Golf was, because there's nothing cheap about the Golf.

  • I love you reviews I really do but I am still missing some basic informations from most of your reviews. I think you should add 30s describing this 3 really important factors:

    1.) Seat comfort:

Drivers spend months in cars and ten thousands of miles during their lifetime. I think it is a very important factor, especially as some expensive cars do have crappy seats.

2.) Dashboard - would need a 5-10 second dash only view.Again driver spends hours in front of it

    3.) Default System Sound

  • @emanko111 Hi. Mat from CarBuyer here. I hope this answers your questions: 1. I usually only talk about seat comfort if it's either very good or very bad. Eg: In this video at 2.42 I mention there is little side support in the Passat's seat squabs. 2. We do show the dash of each car when I talk about the interior. However, I appreciate the angle is acute and doesn't show enough. So in future videos we will also insert shots taken from the rear of the car. 3. I'm no expert on sound systems.

  • @MatWatsonCarbuyer Thanks for your respond

1.) Yes I have noticed, however that I would connect to sport rides or cornering, not to long hours of driving, eg. your back and the feeling you get after a 3-4 hour trip. 2.) Perfect, exactly what is needed imo. 3.) Hmm... number of speakers (4,6,8,12), in entry level, mp3 support and so on. (or Bose, Sony...are good sound speaker, rather no names are not).

Keep up the good work, cheers :-)

  • so VW is europe's toyota?

  • @itsTiLER huh wut?

  • @sspope european car reviewers talk about VW like its their toyota (toyota is the biggest manufacturer in the USA)

  • Hey, i really like your video's. Will you make a video with hyundai ix35 or mitsubishi asx?

  • I hope your able to do a review of the new 2011 focus when its released next month :D I've been thinking of getting one.

  • @FMcD Hi. Mat from CarBuyer here. I'll be doing a video review of the new Focus in the next few weeks so look out for that. However, in the meantime, go to our website as we have a written review of it on there.

  • @MatWatsonCarbuyer Thanks man, Cant wait :D Aparently, its ment to be more good looking in person. I personally think the front is stunning, stands out, especially from the old focus.

  • Why is it different from the one shown at VW website? I've saw a few first releases and the car looked different, with LED on the front and back lights, for example. the interior seems a little different too. This one looks more like the jetta.

  • @luladavid Hi. Mat from CarBuyer here. Our test model didn't have all the bells as whistles on it, such as the LED lights, as it was a mid specification car. Manufacturers usually use the top of the range models for their promotional material as they come with larger alloy wheels and other extra tit-bits on them which help make them look nicer and more expensive. Hope this answers your question.

  • @MatWatsonCarbuyer Thanks man, it helped a lot. I thought that was the top version. It's just that sometimes I see the brands sell different cars with same names, in different countries. I saw the one shown at the Detroit motor show, which was just like the one you presented, and assumed VW as selling a different car as the Passat (an upscale version of the Jetta) in the American market, since Americans like different cars from the Europeans. So I got a little confused when I saw that in the UK.

  • Looks so dated. Good golly.

  • Tail lights look like a Buick Lucerne, a car that has been in production for a while, is sold mainly to retired people and which is about to be discontinued.

  • So if my cat walks under the unlocked passat's bumper, the trunk will open?

  • @britishcarfan

I think the key fob must also be close by i.e. in driver pocket?

  • @britishcarfan No! Firstly it will auto-lock after 30secs or so if you forget to. Secondly, it has a smart key which must be detected to open to trunk. So you'd gotta be already standing right there with the key in your pocket when your cat passes for it to open.

  • @britishcarfan If its unlocked, yes.

  • @britishcarfan So if you run over a cat, the boot will open?

  • no you have to be in close proxiamty with the key, all part of the keyless entry system not standard!

  • @britishcarfan

Nah they have sensors on the boot as well

  • @britishcarfan you propably have the opportunity to diactivate it... maybe with the immobilizer??

  • @britishcarfan yes. if your cat jumps to the left and right several times. the trunk will open.

  • @britishcarfan Is there a possibility that the passat engineers dont think this situation? If a car feels that driver is fall asleep while driving. That car also can feel there is a cat under the bumper, not a humanbeing

  • @britishcarfan sure if you give your cat the keycard for your passat ;-)

  • @britishcarfan if its unlocked

  • @britishcarfan yes, and she will get into your luggage!

  • @britishcarfan If it will have your car's key in pocket, then yes :D

  • upload more videos. love your reviews mate.

  • @seauryakumar You seem to be implying that you love Steve more than his reviews. You do realise this makes you gay?
