  • Music doesn't have age, it is timeless, one can be 80 or 99 and it doesn't mean that the work and/or talent that was created devalues with time..for me, the 70s, 80s 90s and the 2000's are the best decades in music, but it's unfair to say that there is absolutely no talent in this day in age..when the Beatles Elvis and Tom Jones started people said their moves and instruments were evil and now they are legends of music, there is a time for everything under the sun, Steve Winwood one of the best

  • COOL!!

  • this is good stuff !!!!!!!

  • Thank God for original versions.

  • "Bake me a higher loaf! baaaake me a higher loaf!"

  • That is fine blue-eyed soul music.

  • The Night Man Cometh

  • I like this song much.

    very inspirational and talented singer.

  • to 1:52 i go

  • I work at a grocery store and this song plays every single freaking day!!!!

  • people might don't know, but he is also a great great guitarist. not in the league of clapton, page and hendrix, but def. europa league.

  • its strange when a cover is better than an original but this has absolutely nothing on james vincent mc morrow's version

  • @hitchvids92 McMorrow's version is pretty good, It's mostly generic and hardly no instrumental value. Steve's is better but that version is pretty good too.

  • RIP steve, We will all miss you deeply. cant believe it still..... you blessed us with your music.

    :'(

  • @FarmerJohn01 RIP? When did he die????

  • @tesubcalle He's still alive. I think someone was thinking of R

Robert Palmer who died in 2003 of a heart attack.

  • @FarmerJohn01 He's still living!!!

  • 2012 were still here ! shows you quality music !!!

  • The melody is from Sexual Healing

  • POSITIVE FIRE!!! INFINITE WOWS!!! STEVE AND CHAKA BRING PARADISE!!!

  • @DeepSetEyesDance I didn't know that was Chaka lol I thought it was tina turner..

  • @John2342211 I get why you thought that, some similarities exist between them but it is Chaka singing with Steve.

  • @DeepSetEyesDance It's the hair... even their voices are similar, regardless; classic song :)

  • @John2342211 I agree, their mesmerizing ways are very similar and full of charm, this song is so powerful and on the positive side.It makes the heart feel good!!!

  • @DeepSetEyesDance I like your style :) It makes the soul feel good, that's how oldschool songs did... btw you like a song called inyoureyes by peter gabriel?

  • steve winwood rules.

  • Groundbreaking album 'back in the high life' from which this song came. Got to give Steve W credit, considering that he's a veteran musician & songwriter of the highest(pun not intended) order, to perform on this video in the manner that he did. Who said White men can't dance!!!?? ¦¬)

  • bonita

  • Bake me a pie of love <3

  • I wouldnt pay money to see any artist these days im not a fan of lip singing and synthesizers. Lets make people musicians because of the way they look FUCKING THANKS MTV

    \

  • james vincent mcmorrows version puts this gay old fashioned forgetful shite 2 shame looool todays music rocks assholes!! the 80s was a decade where there was no awesome auto tunin or fl studio software lool instead it was cheap cardboard guitars with elastic bands n keyboards made out of stone n wood scraps bahahahaa get with the times u fukn coffin dodgers looool

  • @BigBoab11O "awesome auto tunin"? LOL you're an idiot, dude.

  • Simply awesome.

    Fuck today`s bullshit music.

    /GAGA

  • I'm a little afraid of the potential contents of this 'pie' of love...

  • The feeling these older songs gives me is half joy half torture. I wish times were simple again, but they NEVER will be again :( I loved the 90's

  • @herbprophet ...you do realise this song is from 1986 right? ...not the 90's...

  • @C00perML This song was played on the radio ALOT in the early 90's and late 80's.

  • @herbprophet i fully concur

  • There is an underlying sense of spirituality and hope to all his songs. Musicians nowadays are too obsessed with looking and sounding cool to write music as genuine this. May a Higher Love be brought to all of us.

  • Aw what the hell I thought he was black

  • @MysticDMBherb Steve Winwood? lol yeah he's about as white as they come. he's had hits way back in the 60s.

  • The girl at 1:52 has a great rack. Damn.

  • @Dwhales4

    She's probably 80 by now ;)

That's the problem with watching old stuff :)

  • @Dwhales4 Now they're probably down to her belly button, this video is 25 years old.

  • @Dwhales4 Yeah and it's probably real unlike the plastic tits you get on todays music vids.

  • I'm here for my daily dose of Winwood.

  • Comment removed

  • I want this video on my 390 phone.

  • searched the spectrum that day, the boy wanted a HIGHER LOVE. SEE CHAKA SEE ME

  • 42 people like justin bieber

  • james vincent mcmorrow's cover is better than this

  • @timiou1995 no way josé

  • wow this is like an 80's style electro remix of that song off the love film advert

  • @FishyWizzard this is the original

  • He sings like Phil Collins, I know him from Spencer Davis Group, and the beat is like Sexual Healing.

  • always sunny dennis haha!!!!!

  • bake me a pie of love hahahahhaha

  • why cant music of today sound just like this?

  • @jonesalexander100 In three words-----I don't know.

  • Whoaaa can't believe this douche is ruining a James Vincent McMorrow song!

  • @jrb20082 damn you stupid

  • Love this guy, great talent for decades, though this is a good song, not my favorite of his...who could blame him for loving all those lovely ladies dancing around him! Great rhythms that's for sure!

  • Did I see Chaka Chaka Kahn in this video?

  • @rhHDrider several times :)

  • OMG

  • James Vincent Mcmorrow

  • @Shenruss --- The feeling present in my heart inspired by the song Higher Love is proof of the existence of Higher Love. It is Higher Love itself...

Logic has nothing to do with it. Love is intangible. You can look at the chemistry of the brain or search the physical universe to the end of time, but you will not find Higher Love or any Love through science or logic. There is Higher Love because I feel it. The proof is within. "Look Inside Your Heart, I'll Look Inside Mine"...

  • @Shenruss Very well said. :O)

  • @bohogirl10 check out my youtube channel coz it features winwood and higher love

  • @anooshapalooza Check out my WINWOOD youtube channel

  • @Nineteen80s29 Interesting, ever since I was little this song reminded me of heaven

  • @ColumRogers ------- Check out my youtube channel because it featues WINWOOD

  • @pauldc1066 The only ridiculous thing is that they kept making songs after music peaked with this one 'Higher Love'. check out my Winwood featured youtube channel

  • Greatest Song Ever Made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chaka Khan colours this piece so delightfully =)

  • Actually saw him perform this song at Disneyland when I was 10! I'm 28!

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • Chaka Khan !!!

  • The percussion although generally harsh, the utilization of congas was great, and probably inspired other acts, such Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon. Perhaps a much bigger inspiration to said acts was The Talking Heads, who I believe had been doing for about five years or so.

  • When I was a kid I thought he said bake me a pie of love.

  • @Itwasallgoodayearago lmao, now that's all I'm going to hear when I listen to this song. Baaaake meee a pie of loooove....

  • @Itwasallgoodayearago CTHU!!!!!! (Crackin The Hell Up) Thank you..you have officially ruined my ability to hear this song without laughing to myself!!..Awww, that's Good stuff!

  • @Itwasallgoodayearago Great, now that's what I'm going to hear every time I listen to this song. :D

  • @TheBizzyWig ...but its CLEAR that the lyrics say "bring me a higher love"..!!! its hard to miss that , unless itwasallgoodayearago, is a bing cakeeater....;-)

  • @botvinik10 I'm almost tempted to change all of the lyrics. :D

  • @Itwasallgoodayearago if it is an apple pie of love, then im all for it.

  • WHOAAA CHECK OUT MY COVER TO THIS SONG;)

  • amazing , and the beutty of it all they didnt realise they were shaping modern music ...over 20 years old and still 1.5 mill heads like this ,, fucking amazing

  • great song love the rythum

  • Dennis Reynolds

  • One of the best songs from the past 50 years!! In my top 5 and is not moving!!! :) LOVE IT!!

  • I love this song! I remember the very stylist videos of the 80s, and now Dance is back big time!!! I love the grainy quality too! I love Steve's sexy voice and imagine Chaka Khan singing back up!

  • Fantastic

  • /Chaka Khan

  • James Vincent McMorrow ftw!

  • I wish people would stop doing sh*t covers of this.

  • regarding.....well done and good luck...its hard

  • Great tune, songwriting excellence from Steve Winwood metamophasized from a 60s/70s cult dinosaur into a relevant musical force in the 1980s. Chaka looks hot, Steve's vocals are perfect, Chaka's harmonies on the chorus are unforgettable, great musicianship all around, studio production is nothing short of dazzling. Say what you want about this song but you cannot deny that this is easily one of the top 10 greatest and most memorable songs of the 1980s.

  • thank fuck for that advert

  • It's so cool! (:

  • It's my favorite song.

  • how 80's

  • @bradyeahok

    To quote Maxwell Smart:

    "And....loving it."

    :-D

  • Dennis

  • Why no Chaka Khan credit?

  • @Shelby502420 I've noticed that too. This is one of the best male/female collaborations, yet Steve gets most of the credit! Some folks just don't know greatness when they hear it

  • what a badass song!!!

  • LOVE THIS SONG !!!

  • Its more than just a DVD blad.

  • @iEpikGamer Blue Valentine? Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? :P

  • enjoy it coach dick 'n balls !!

  • @FlyingGold

    one of my favorite episodes!

  • 80s music video women are HOT

  • @chrisdlima You Got Talent, and I sincerely you get noticed in this industry which sadly been polluted full of talentless garbage of today.

Thank God u ain't one of them, as you've got the right stuff, Good luck!

  • @chrisdlima

spamtastic, but you have a good voice. A little too similar to James' cover I'd say, so work on making the song your own (fucking cliche i know, but has some truth). good luck man

  • @chrisdlima Commenting on 80s songs aint gonna help. Focus on writing your own material, gig constantly and have a backup plan.

  • That's a gift for you bumble bee. Come on.

Enjoy it Coach Dick 'n' Balls.

  • @ab10ification that's my favorite show of all time! :P I love it

  • 40 losers will never experience a higher love.

  • I love how they use this song at the end of Big Business with Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin comedy.

  • Your vid is popular on Islamabad

  • reminds me of tarzan

  • i love dis song!!

  • tysonfor1 - Bloody Hell dude, high praise indeed, thanks man. In reality ' Er thrice, the sun done salutation to the dawn' ( The Smiths, Cemetery Gates, 1986) now thats masterful command of the English language. To the point in hand though, its so great to know that one of the best female soul artistes in history ( and one of the most beautiful, in equal measure), performed on one of the best tracks ever written and recorded.

  • Ah, love song! Remember it coming out and running to buy it at the record shop!! So good Chaka Khan and Steve Winwood. Two of the best singer around!!

  • Always reminds me of the movie Big Business!! Love this song and I love that movie!!

  • I may come in for universal condemnation from the musical snobs that infest most of these sites and maybe I should be reading the comments more thoroughly, but is that Chaka Khan at 0.57?

  • @MrBarker73 Yes, you silly little knowledgeless fool !

    heh! heh!

  • @MrBarker73

    It certainly is

  • @MrBarker73 Ahhhh your use of the English language is spot on my friend. Damn near poetry if you ask me!! Which you didn't.

  • Dennis Reynolds considers this song a classic

  • Well, StevoBATH has gone a sleepin'. Yeah Stevo, It's French/German from pre 1550's. Kinda cool to know 'sorta' what your roots are as opposed to a stain on the bedsheets. And if you have any other problems with America, maybe you can request cancelling military contracts that MAY be of value to your pathetic folks one day :) and any other American aid that may one day save your pathetic (but humorous) asses.

  • Totally prefer this version to James Vincents suicidal drowl.

  • ☼ Donec ♫ αγάπη ♥ स्वतंत्रता ∞

  • Love Film.

  • @louise67891 hahaha but it's played so slowly on that advert. I had to hear the proper version. Damn this subliminal nonesense!!

  • @louise67891 lol, someone always beats me to it. This time it is you miss Louise. Congratulations!!

  • @louise67891 Well, the LoveFilm ad song is a cover by James Vincent McMorrrow. :P

  • January 1st, 1980-December 31st, 1989.

  • @labelars 1980 is part of the 70's because there is no 0 year 1-10, 11-20, etc... lol

  • @TheLMBLucas 61-70 is the 7th decade,71-80 is the 8th decade,81-90 is the 9th decade of the 20th century, etc. But if we say "the 70's " then its just 70-79. You're right , there is no 0 year ( one person told me there was, but I found it difficult to believe. I'll get back to you if it's true. He WAS a smart guy).

  • great!!!

  • Legendary session drummer John JR Robinson drumming on this. He drummed on most of Chaka Khan's hits - he was all over the 80's and 90's. Great drummer!

  • Thanks to love film i found this song..and this version :)

  • mullet included??? hahhaa

  • BLIND FAITH this aint! LOL

  • @stevobath haha! so true
