Your gamakas are very authentic. Your manOdharma is very good too! I've been trying to play the guitar. I hope some day I will be able to play this well...
Hi dude, Simply amazing stuff from you. I'm truly amazed at your style of playing. I've been learning guitar since a year; am still doing some basic things. I would like to know lots of things from a senior pro like you. Please let me know if you can give me your contact no. else, I can share mine.
Thats a fantastic composition in Kaapi Raagam.. I just loved it.. This raaga generates a great mood around while being played or being sung in sruthi..
It is.. Traditionally that's not the case, but the kApi that I hear these days (and have played) is indeed similar to piloo... It has every note except the sharp Ma and flat Ri
@haribharadwaj What gear do you use? Any special amplifier/settings that you use? Makes me feel like I should start trying playing Carnatic on guitar! :)
Never heard Carnatic music on guitar sound this nice :)
I find that its easier to play in a lower pitch, but the gamakas are not as clear as they would be if played in higher pitches. Although its probably just my playing.
Hari, I am guessing you are playing Sa as A? I normally tune in Sa Pa SA (the original D-string being Sa), however I cannot get pitches as high as you are getting, so I am wondering if you are using some other note insetad of open string as the base. Hope i didn't confuse. I was just curious
Hi, yes, I am playing with A as Sa... I am using an open string for Sa.. I do use Sa-Pa-Sa tuning.. May be you are using my tAra sthAyi 'A' as your madhya sthAyi Sa and hence the difficulty?
Well, I mean the it is impossible for me to tune my standard D string up to an A but it is possible to tune lower to an A, so unless you are tuning the open G up to an A? Basically, I use bF#bF#bF# or ADADAD (first A being the lowest string). Something along those lines?
are you serious? I was just intending to short kapi piece myself. After having listened to this, why bother :) Not a wasted note. guitarists tend to over play everything, but you certainly are not guilty of that.
post more please! this is awesome! :)

Bro this is amazing.. Can tell me what effect are you using?
srikanth04 10 months ago
@srikanth04 Thanks!
Effect? I'm using the inbuilt mic and webcam on my laptop... probably the effect is the amp being too close to mic :-/
haribharadwaj 10 months ago
@srikanth04 Dude effect has a very little to do when it comes to playing it like this guy does!.

beautiful mood. is this similar to piloo in hindustani?
sounds like this has most of the 12 notes of the scale.

@curiousmoron I use just a low end fender amp... I think the 'effect' in this song is inadvertantly because of the speaker being too close to the mic

Would you happen to have the tabs for this raaga by any chance?
