  • JB's handlers really ought to have him cover this...after all, Ricky was covering Sinatra and Glenn Miller!

  • Written in the 30s, I think. I never tire of listening to Rick. Justin Beiber can go fuck himself !!!

  • love looked so simple back then...was it?

  • He had the same kind of lip curl like Elvis Presley did. They almost look like twins. This was when rock was brand new so Ricky Nelson was essentially the first Justin Bieber of the 1950s.

  • @TheTubePortal Please do not compare someone of Ricky's talent to Justin Bieber, there just is NO comparison!

  • @scottygirlify Every generation loves its own singers and tends to compare the new talent with their own treasured memories. Adults in your generation and most likely your parents thought the same way about Ricky Nelson as you do about Justin Bieber. The guys who like JB now will when they become adults become offended when he is compared to the new talent then, just like you're doing with RN. History always repeats itself.

  • @TheTubePortal BLAH justin? ew

  • Another Great entertainer and music from the BEST time in Music. I Truly HATE the CRAP that is out there nowadays, what THEY call music....I am glad for U-Tube that let's us really in joy the GREATEST time in music. And live such a Faboulous time of life through thes songs.

  • I remember this song when I was in the second grade in 1964, did not know who sang it until several years ago, thanks for posting, brings back memories.

  • Ricky Nelson's voice + Jimmy Burton's guitar playing. Love it.

  • I love Ricky, he was a very talented singer <3

  • Please who is the composer of this song? i listen it from years ago and i dont know who wrote it, i always listen covers...

  • Great old song. Many great singers interpreetd it. Ricky is second only to Brook Benton.

  • he was a good ballplayer they said too!

  • Comment removed

  • I loved Ricky. More really than Elvis..............OUCH!! Don't hate me for that! lol

Rick was very talented Fools Rush In was one of the best. I was 13-14 when he really became big..........now that was music you could dance to! As Dick Clark said...."Rate a Record" Easy to dance to or not on a scale from one to ten! Ya had to love him.........

  • they cut the lead?????

  • I can't believe somebody edited out about five seconds off the end of James Burton's guitar solo. A beautiful song- but why do people have to screw around with things? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • @sicilianese69 Actually, more than 20 seconds of beautiful Burton Telecaster pickin' was cut.

    It's a shame---a real shame.

Oh well, it's a great song---but it doesn't sound right to me this way.

  • his daughter and mark harmon married pam dawber another Michigander

  • the Harmon's were from Michigan remember the great Tom Harmon of Michigan Football?...that's the same family that married the Nelsons,I like it

  • Its just not possible to any get closer to

     heaven.....

  • sure beats rap!

  • Wow thanks, I never knew that

  • Rick's wife was smiling at :15.

  • ***What a CHARM ! ♥

  • This song by Rick was playing on the juke box when I was leaving for Syracuse, NY from Columbia,SC in Aug. 1964...

  • At 0:10 is Kris Nelson...Rick's wife for many years and the mother of their four kids...Tracy, the Nelson twin boys (the music group..."The Nelsons") and Sam. Very pretty and was on some of the Ozzie and Harriett shows.

  • @VEGASTOLLY they were just known as nelson no "S" like the judds. I felt so bad to hear one of his twins had heard of hids dad's death in the plane over the radio.

  • @moxie96 I feel worse for us that the press let loose the story that Rick was doing drugs at the exact moment that the plane was going down. If if that were true, why would they do something that cruel?

  • Love this song and the Bassa Nova Beat.

  • He is undoubtedly the best looking singer of several generations...

  • Wow the woman must have become his wife because Traci Nelson looks like her...

  • @TimothyBreeding Yes, and if I've got it right...her maiden name was Kris Harmon, daughter of uber-famous Michigan all-everything football hero Tom Harmon...and get this....Kris' brother is Mark Harmon...of NCIS fame. See, when you're my age...you've seen all this unfold over the decades. I hope I've got it right for you. But I think I am. joel in tucson

  • Does anyone know what happened to the Guitar Rick was using that had His name on It???

  • Great songs, great voice AND the ultimate bedroom eyes, especially in black and white.

  • So beautiful oh i love this man soo much

  • My mom was always a huge Rick Nelson fan.Used to kinda knock her about it.Got to give it to her she was right. One talented guy.

  • My vote goes to this great tune of Rick's as his Best.....

"Travelin Man" was also great and often regarded as a Rick Nelson signature song.

Rick's wonderful combo group headlined by the legendary James Burton playing his distinctive "twangy" "chicken-pickin" leads on his 50's Fender Telecaster - always added so much to Rick's songs. For only 3 guys - they did a superb job.

For those of you who haven't seen them - try to catch some of the old "Ozzie and Harriet" shows....You will enjoy them!

  • @musicandmovieguy55

Don't forget and hte bass player Joe Osborne, his bass playing changed the importance of the electric bass in rock!

  • what episode is this from? who beat up Wally?

  • Men were so much hotter back then.

  • Ricky Nelson had such a beautiful and sexy voice -- with a gorgeous physical presence to go with it. During the middle 70's, I was so fortunate to have been able to watch him perform in concert. I felt like I was in a trance -- lol -- loved every minute and will never forget it. I will also never forget when he passed away.. it was my son's first birthday; I was heartbroken.

For those who may not know, the pretty lady he sings to in this video... is his wife Kristen Harmon.

  • A MI ME GUSTA RICKY...QUE LO SEPAN...PERO NO VER A NINGUN NEGRO EN LA LISTA...ME MOLESTA..........Y YO PIENSO QUE CANTABAN MEJOR.......SIN EMBARGO PARECE QUE LA CULTURA HA DEJADO APARCADO O A LO MEJOR NO HAY CULTURA??????????Y POR ESO NO CONOCEN A QUIEN CANTAN LAS CANCIONES EN TODOS LOS PAISES Y EN TODOS LOS ESTADIOS DE LA VIDA.....A LO MEJOR ME EQUIVOQUE DE LISTA.....ME REFIERO AL GUSTO POR LA MUSICA DEL PASADO....NO TODO ERA RICKY NI ELVIS....NI FRANK SINATRA.JAJAJAJAJAJA....YA LES VALE....

  • PUES LO SIENTO.......PERO BROOK BENTON ES EL LIDER DE ESTA CANCION Y LESLYE GORE......PARA LOS MAS ATRAVESADOS DIRE QUE UNO ERA MUJER.......POR SI LES MOLESTA.........Y OTRO ERA NEGRO POR SI LES MOLESTA TAMBIEN........VOCES Y SENTIMIENTOS DE VERDAD.........SIN TAPUJOS....NI BOBERIAS DE NIÑATIVOS GUAPERAS DEL MOMENTO.......

  • Thanks for the post.

  • I love the latin influenced percussion in this. Ricky Nelson came to my attention when I was 10; kind of young but hard core into him. Even at ten, I wasn't in to the cornball aspect of the Ozzie and Harriet show, but suffered thru it because of Rick and the music.

  • What a talent.

  • I used to watch their show with my Mom who had it on VHS=) I fell in love with his Voice when I was 13 years old and I am now 28 and still Love his Voice and I alway thought he was realy cute=)

  • Mexican FOOLS RUSH IN ....

a Where White men FEAR to go

b because white men NEVER know

c to the nearest liquor store at approximately 5:15 pm every payday and buy up all the beer

  • @teehonky O^O tee hee!

  • @Dreambro1 ohhhhh

  • No one ever could do this song like Rick.

  • Великолепный певец,мелодичные песни! Хочется слушать и слушать!

  • MY FAVORITE MUSICAL IDOL OF ALL. WISH I COULD OF MET HIM. I DID MEET HIS TWIN SONS IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR. IT WAS SURREAL !!!!

  • by the time the Beatles and Dylan rolled around these old dinosaurs were extinct .Ricky had a few catchy tunes though.

  • @dave777blaster Catchy tunes? They were some of the best songs of all time. :D

  • @Tjman53 If that's what you like all the power to ya buddy

  • @dave777blaster "Old Dinosaurs"?? Rick was in his 20s then fella......WHERE WERE YOU......or were you even born by then???

  • @CJurasin I was 10 at the time this came out by 63 ,this music was starting to fade away by then. The beetles and Dylan were starting to come on strong

  • @dave777blaster And I was 12.....so we BOTH know Ricky Nelson WAS NOT an "Old Dinosaur" (as you put it)....when the Beatles came out. They came to the US in 1964, with songs like "Love Me Do" "PS, I Love You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" (not too different in style than Rick had been doing just previously). Rick Nelson, John Lennon, and Richard Starkey (Ringo) were ALL born the SAME YEAR.....and Dylan was only born ONE YEAR later! So much for Rick being an "Old Dinosaur"

  • @CJurasin When the Beetles and Dylan came along people flocked to them

  • @dave777blaster Nobody's arguing that.....the public dumped Elvis the same way!! As any entertainer will tell you, the public is FICKLE! They think that anything "new" is somehow "better." It attracts the "flakes" first, and then finally the mainstream. Look at Rap-Crap...it SUCKS, but has become "teeny-bop" mainstream somehow!

My argument with you was the term "Old Dinosaurs" when the guys YOU mentioned were basically the SAME age and their music styles (back then) were very similar!!

  • @CJurasin The beetles and Bob Dylan is far from being Crap.

In fact Bob Dylan disproves your theory as he still enjoys a large following.

I t was not Nelson or Elvis that fell out of style it was their style of music

Elvis had bad writers he didn't write songs

Nelson had a few hits but was eclipsed by better artists with better songs.

Like Dylan beetles Rolling stones and Sam Cooke.

Nelson had a few nice songs at best

  • @dave777blaster WHAT?? WHO said The Beatles and Dylan were CRAP??

The Beatles were putting out the same style as Nelson and Elvis were when they first started out. "Love me do" and "PS I Love You" aren't exactly heavy hitters.

"Nelson had a FEW hits" ? From 1957 to 1962, Nelson had THIRTY Top-40 hits, more than ANY other artist at the time except Presley (who had 53). Many of Nelson's early records were double hits with both the A AND B sides hitting the Billboard charts! (Wiklpedia)

  • @dave777blaster The beauty of Retrospect is that you get to see that Chuck berry blew them all away, back in the 50's . Racism held him and Sam Cooke down. Sam Cooke had the best stuff in the early 60's as far as I am concerned

the top charts mean 000 you should know that by now.

Dylan never had one #1 top chart it means nothing The girls went wild over Nelson and Elvis for their persona .

in the early days of the Beetles they dropped Nelson and Elvis sure they kept fans but it was over

  • @dave777blaster As far as Elvis goes, name one other preforming artist that can walk away from it all for ten years and come back larger than they was before, lol

  • Rick Nelson had more of an effect on music (not just American ) than most people will ever realize Thanks Rick you are missed

  • i had a man crush on him and elvis. ricky also used the jordanaires on many of his recordings - but, as per elvis' request, did not credit them.

  • omg ricky nelson was so handsome . damm him for being so gorgeous and not be around today . <3 <3 ah well we have michael buble :) <3 <3

  • The best version of this song.

  • What a HANDSOME guy, I love his eyes especially! :-) And such a NICEEEEE voice!

  • Excelente.

  • Ricky Nelson is the best, remember "travellin man" or " lonesome town" and many others, Ricky, thx man !!

  • (1) "Fools Rush In", was written by Johnny Mercer & Rube Bloom and was originally a huge 1940 hit for bandleader Glenn Miller. (2) Rick Nelson's B-side was a gorgeous nostalgic tune..."Down Home"...a hit, in it's own right...in many radio markets. "Down Home" was penned by the then husband-wife team of Gerry Goffin & Carole King.

  • oh my god, those eyes! and those lips! i just wanna jump on him!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god i love this song!!!! ♥ Ricky! i am soooo turned on right now...

  • I just watched an interview with his daughter. They lived in the home that had once belonged to Errol Flynn. Apparently Ricky Nelson had always been deathly afraid of flying, but he was, according to her, under the influence of the house. He became obsessed with the plane, bought it, and it killed him on New Years. She'd had a dream when they first bought the house that Errol Flynn came up to her and said "Happy New Year". Odd.

  • incredible handsome,I have to say.The best version though, it;s not Evis; nor Rick's nor anyone's it is in spanish by spaniard singer Rocio Durcal, she takes it to the right level of pop song.

  • 9-14-63 Debut Date Peak Position on Billboard Top 100 - #12 (Decca 31533)

  • Jammer dat ie dood is..snuf snuf

  • Why did they cut James Burton's solo out ? I'm disappointed....

  • @ftjax They had to edit the songs for the series because of time. Boy could Ricky sing - one of the truly talented teen idols. Unfortunately he got caught by the change in pop music, which left most of the stars of the 1950s behind. As for Burton, he was elected into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame last year.

  • Hes a brilliant singer...he did many great songs under 50 and 60 era:)

Hes melodies was kindless sweet and warm! Thanks for all that songs you brings to me! You help me with your songs...always!!

  • I love this song. The Bow Wow Wow is even better

  • Hey that's Kris in the audience. She was so pretty back then. This is my favorite Ricky Nelson song but I saw Kris in the video and suddenly got it. For the longest time I only saw her as bitter and burned(just television interviews you know?). But I get what Ricky saw in her. She looks so pretty and sweet. If she was half as sweet as she looked how could he resist? It goes w/o saying what she saw in him though. Just dreamy and by all accounts that count a good guy.

  • adolfe hitler did the original recording of this song .... mendel played the cowbell and eva screamed her head off

  • Great version by Ricky.

Shame that the filmcompany cut Janes Burtons solo shorter than the record.

  • Better than Elvis'.

  • ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS !!!!

  • He was special!

  • Although I prefer Brook Benton's version of this song, I adore Rick Nelson's voice.

What a beautifull person and great singer he was. I miss those carefree days.

You have got to listen to Rick at his most romantic singing AGAIN, a 1949 song.

  • MY FAVORITE ARTIST OFA ALL

  • Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh it's cutie pie again! He is the most adorable kid ever and BOY CAN HE SING! xxxx

  • great song

  • Great song!! Only thing is, they cut out some of the guitar solo which is sad cuz it really is a great riff.

  • THE GREAT JAMES BURTON ON LEAD GUITAR.

  • GREAT

  • They were an adorable couple!

  • Who was an adorable couple?

  • Kristin and Ricky were the cutest couple alive then... she's at the near beginning of video. Thanks for posting.

  • @craignshari Yeah, they certainly were a great looking couple, the epitome of clean wholesome sexy young couples of the 50's early 60's. Not everything is as it perfect as it appears in life, though. Ricky became a major philanderer while on the road and Kristin, wow, what a shock from her television image in the sordid episode 12 years after this show. I would rather think of them as two of the many 50's early 60's tv. icons who had the vibe of a better time, rather than the reality.

  • Dreamboat!

  • My all time favorite version of this song. Rick was so talented and his death was such a terrible waste.

    Thanks for posting this.

We miss you, Rick. Rest in Peace.

  • I love all versions of this beautiful song.

  • GREAT ! AMAZING VIDEO !

  • Great Ricky stuff Just wish they didnt cut of James Burton guitar solo in half!!!

  • Agreee.. How could they cut the best guitar part? Probably to make room for a cigarette commercial.

  • the missing solo really sucks

  • @mnfatcat I think it's one of James' best solo's....

  • I agree but remember this is a live performance for the TV show. I just goes to prove they really played it when they can trim it just so to fit the show timing. Ed Sullivan required most performers to play 45 sec only. So they were actually doing it there. What wasn't seen was the full orchestra to back up anything else needed. Ed later started letting so people play the whole song.

  • Not enough reverb on his voice.

  • Oh wow he's good looking! Guys sure don't look like that now a days. -_-

    *Favorites*

  • Yes, that is the beautiful Kristin Nelson is in the first shot. They were married for more than 10 years. Kris is the sister of actor Mark Harmon and daughter of football star Tom Harmon. Unfortunately, jealousy, drugs and alcohol on the part of both Rick & Kris dissolved their marriage, which produced some famous offspring. Kris later married producer Mark Tinker, son of Grant, but is now divorced. She is an accomplished artist.

  • Wow his wife was a BEAUTY!

  • God I adore this song, but that thing he is doing with his mouth scares me !!!

  • Be even better if they hadn't chopped the eally cooking bit of jimmy b's solo out......

  • It's always a double treat listening to a Rick Nelson song because it's a James Burton song as well.

  • Didn't he marry that girl in the first shot?

  • Yes. they were married for 18 years and had four children. Kristen Harmon. Their daughter Tracy is an actress, best known as Sister Steve in the Father Dowling Murder Mystries TV series.

  • I LOVE IT

  • from 1963

  • The Burton solo on this gives me wood every time....

  • yeah baby that's James Burton on lead guitar, he then went on to play with Elvis

  • So great. Many of the musicians on Ricky's songs were the best in the business, Bow Wow Wow has a great version also.

  • My favorite Ricky Nelson Song. He wss very underrated.

  • @Farinadog13 That is VERY true! I think, given a chance, he coulda became one of the biggest rock 'n' rollers!

  • @Farinadog13 isnt this song from brook benton? sorry if i'm wrong

  • @JeffGoul Fools rush in was a song that was written in the 1940s, Rick just updated the arrangement.

  • @Farinadog13 To make matters worse the press drug his name in the mud. I remember reading that he was actually doing cocaine while his plane was crashing!

How would someone know that when they don't always know more important things like what caused the plane to crashed?

  • Thanks for posting this version!!! I love it! I like how sweet and pretty his wife Kris looks at the beginning of the clip. Ricky, as always, was incredibly handsome. He had such a wonderful voice!

  • what a beautiful song ricky nelson the great

  • The lead guitarist is the great James Burton who later played with Elvis Presley's TCB band in the 1970s

  • Play it James........

  • You really know your history! JB is truly one of the best ever!!

  • JB actually left Elvis to play with Rick and then went back.

  • The guitar solo's cut up.

  • This has a latin feel.
