My former band "Big Black Sun" opened up two shows with these guys at BOGARTS in Long Beach, CA. They were great on stage as well as off stage. Great group to hang with - no head trips. All I have is their promo cassette that they handed out back then. They were definitely different and did not belong in the Hollywood scene.
Wow.. posted that before I watched the video. Man.. at the age I was when this came out, I would have crushed on him soooo hard!!! Im 40.. I think Im about to crush on him now!!! hehehe
Ok. Over 11,000 people have viewed this vid; does no-one have a clean copy of this? Nobody has this CD?? Someone PLEASE post a good copy of this song. That being said, thanks to kas for posting this one. Awesome.
Angelamills....you are soooooo right. When we were in Germany (US Army), a friend sent me some MTV music on VHS and this was my Favorite! Could NEVER find the damn Cassette or album, been looking for CD or mp3, can't find that either. Great band that missed the rewards. I thought I was the only one that remembered this group! Thanks for sharing
Wow a blast from the past.I saw Darlings band Nude at a small club in L.A. around 1991.Very short but powerful set.I even had Gregory sign my Passion Crimes cd.Kinda corny but good memories.
dam i was 12 when this song came out i remeber it but i could never find a copy of it until now i reminds me of when my ex gf was messin a round on me yeh i was young all remember was " everythings over an no trears and good bye no lulaby an also that part about u lil slut on the run lol crazy huh
I loved this band as soon as I hear "Everything's Over" waaaay back in the day. They were so ahead of their time....I saw them live also back in '89, and they rocked. One of the best club shows I've ever seen. So glad that there are some other fans out there!!!!
Wow, lost this CD about 20 years ago, and yes, it was on cd even then. Had the pleasure of meeting Gregory Darling at the MTV awards in 1990 (?). Nice guy. These guys were robbed and should've been given the opportunity to do more. They are unique musicians, even by todays standards and far more talented than most of the bands from their era and this. Plus, Gregory Darling was a beautiful specimen, even with the goofy hair. haha
I lost my cassette of this absuletly FANTASTIC band.......I like to think of Darling Cruel as an Orchestral metal mix....I saw some fans of Faith No More, try some Mr. Bungle too!!! Mike patton has a throat of many voices......anyhoo, I would adore if anyone has Passion Crimes tucked away, willing to give....I loved that cassette!!!!
You put the gun to my head...strange ways, twisted fun. You little slut on the run. Hey, one of the greatest, lyrics in modern music ever. Pop-Rock-Symphonic. These guys got screwed....there should have been a ton of more stuff...
in high school my girlfriend was all into Bauhaus and Cocteau Twins and I was like, "you think thats weird and dark, check this shit out". shockingly, she wasn't all that impressed.
Same here! I heard a song on the radio a few days ago and it sparked something that reminded me of a few chords in this song. I just could not remember what the name of this song was or who sang it. Until about ten minutes ago and the name Darling Cruel sprang into my head! I decided to check here on the off chance anyone else had ever liked the song and, surprise!.....there ARE others just like me out there. AND you like Faith No More too! Scary!
Oh man - I have racked my brain for HOURS trying remember Darling Cruel's name! I was googling everything from "Crying Valentine" to "Crucial Taunt" (I know, I know - Wayne's World! Found that out the hard way) - and just now it came out of the blue... "Darling Cruel". MAN I loved this album. Very cool to see the video here!
Holy shit, the last time I saw this the first Gulf War had not happened yet and GWB's dad was in office (or maybe Reagan? I forget). Anyway, thanks for posting it. Good memories.
not to crazy for the song but love the girl in the video. i have a neck fetish and loves how he kisses her neck, he must like the neck too. i was 14 in 1989 when this video came out and loved it, i guess you could imagine why.... ha.... the neck part maybe...
OMG....there are other people out there who know who Darling Cruel is? WOW. I actually saw this for the first time in Okinawa and I happened to record it. I've been searching for the CD for years now.
Nice of you to include a news interview piece after the video. I had been trying to recall this song/band/video and all I could remember was the rapid mandolin being played at some point and the candlelit atmosphere. I stumbled across my cassette collection and found this album and was all "It's them!" Ah, nostalgia.
If you can ignore the lead singer's Paula Poundstone hair & Golden Girl gone goth outfit, you might have liked this band before they sank into the bottomless depths of infamy, never to return.
That said, I love them SO much that I just bought the cd again!!!
I remember when you guys were called "Darling Cool"...Loved when you guys did "Back in Black" with your backs to the crowd...Plus your fan favorite "Living in Hollywood", I think thats what it was called!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you very much for uploading this video...I have never seen it even though I have listened to Passion Crimes for almost 20 yrs now..... unbelievable talent...please upload more if you got them...thanks again
Hey! This song's the "You're Time Is Gonna Come" of the late 80's! LOL First thing that got my attention when I saw this on MTV then, was Gregory Darling's voice-- the vibratto, and amazing range he has! I could just eat him up!:) Still could!♥
Wow, you're right- he DOES sound like Mike Patton from Faith No More. I haven't heard this since it was released in '89, and I bought "The Real Thing" in '90.
I love this video, thought I would never see it again. Thanks! I love this song so much, I play it often. Nobody knows who I am talking about when I talk about them. Cool extra stuff too! Thanks!
I always thought the girl in the video was so beautiful too!
I have been checking for this video for months! You rule!
