i love these guys. i remember when tommy nixon was the sound man and henry was their manager. i miss them and wonder what they're doing today. john and his guitar aptly named "baby balls". ahhhhh. the good ole days!
I can't believe I found this.I don't think you were even born the last time I was able to"hit the Bricks"(that's what we called going to see them).I was a"Brickhead"back in the day in Jersey, travelling all over the place to see about the best live band on the scene.I got to be pretty good friends with them (a friend of mine worked with your dad at Sieman's).I would love to see whoever's still around, but I live in Dallas now (I ran in to Charles at a Dillard's store about 10 or 15 years ago).
I worked with alot of the bands in bucks and philly{jdb the flame andy boyle etc} and now live in austin.this band was great when we would go to the toad, shady lane reflections south, drop a line to skinyviny@gmail.com I am currently doing some work with black joe lewis but also some other nationals. Its good to hear from some folks from the bucks County area
Hey Hal. This is Ricky using my daughter's account. I hope all is well with you. Would love to get together and catch up sometime, maybe grab a couple o' those nasty nachos from John & Peters. Just jokin', can't eat that stuff anymore. Fact is, it wasn't that cool back in the day! Be well.
Yes USA Hot spots live in at The Springhouse Tavern in Hellertown, PA on the USA network. Denny Somack produced it. I owned the original record Co. Bricks Mortar recorded on,ZEBRA RECORDS. We shipped over 1500 of our original EP's in the month that followed. If anyone want's a copy of the black and white EP let me know.
Unfortunately nowhere, John(amazing guitarist) was told told "lay back" and it killed their rock audience and the record deal, then the fans went away....too bad, they were Living Color way before LC. Still an amazing band and many a fun lip biting snow storm there in the dressing room at the tin lizzy where this was filmed..
I'm an original member of Bricks and I can tell you the bands demise had nothing to do with anyone telling any of us to change the way we performed. The problem was, during that time was the industry's inability to market a rock/funk band with a black lead singer. I'm happy to inform you that the members of Bricks are still working in some capacity of the music biz performing, recording, writing & producing. By the way, the keyboardist in this video is Glenn McLelland, currently a member of Ween.
If you are an original member your initials should be RC, CC, VS, MT, JB or the "sixth member" B.S..The first gig was at the Yardville hotel 1980, Opened with Come take a ride. I would hope you're wrong that a black singer wasn't the issue and that it was a splintered musical direction the music took making it hard to market but then again, as much as things have changed maybe they haven't.
