The theme in minor which is heard throughout is a danish traditional song about the ghost of a danish king Valdemar chasing through the woods on his horse at night.

This fantastic composer was friend of Mendelssohn and the Schumanns, who were very enthusiastic about his music. I am very glad and thankful because I can enjoy Niels Gade on youtube and I want to know all his eight symphonies. Now we all can agree with Robert Schumann! rsrs
