All this music is Old school,it will be never be forgotten.there is alot,of young talent. learnnig the trade. to keep this tejano music.going on for years to come. But please don't forget this guys on this video are one of a kind! Viva Tejano Music
R Rodriguez local producer in SA made a movie on this history of conjunto to tejano music, I began my music career with Dino & Deltones 1965,many like Longoria,Santigo,Flaco, began the conjuntos in valley/central Tex,later Isidro Lopez who revolutionzed the music with brass/electric instruments,from that came Sunny,Little Joe, then the synthziers w/the accordian (Mazz) to what it is today//mix of hip hop with everything thrown in
,but the basic conjunto/tejano music is still played & danced
@WEBTRAIN Great insight ! I agree and feel fortunate to have been a part of that history while playing with "Little Joe Y La Familia", Rocky Y Milagro, Jess Lopez and the Lantin Soumds ( La Connection) and many many others that contributed to this genre from California to Texas.
Thanks Mr Valerio Longoria for your great contributions to Tejano music and thus Tejano music growing from the roots you planted! Mr longoria was honored by Congress a few years ago as a National Treasure for his contributions to our music! Great video! Thanks to all the early pioneers of Tejano music for your contributions from all Tejanos music lovers, you inspired me to become a Tejano music disc jockey and to play puro hard core Tejano music on my program! Tejano and Proud!
Oh this makes my want to dance! Reminds me of a wedding. The band wanted a break because "nobody was dancing" but grandpa F made them keep playing because my brother and I were out there getting down. The good ole days when life was simple. Love conjunto music.
I'm not Tejano but my Family is. I always thought every time i heard this music it sounds like Polka's to me. It was always in the back of my head and, now that I see this i totally understand. It's amazing how Music Evolutionizesalong with the world. By the way, the guy @ 5:43 looks like Gianni Versace ;0}
Yes, but it would probably depend on your audience and what region of the country you were in. It would really go over well in San Antonio or basically anywhere in the southwest !
I am trying to find a vdeo of Little JOe singing "just a good ol' redneck mexican boy" it is a great song! can someone post it or send me a link if you find >>
Very sad ! I knew him well and yes he was a legend. This video is from a PBS documentery entitled "Roots of American music" He was one of many featured in this video. I personally am playing trumpet with "Little Joe y La Familia in this video.
Hey 71stang can you email me the full version. This was one of the best clips I have every seen. My mom and Dad would go crazy if I coulds get'em a clip like this of LJ. Thankyou and thanks for posting this.
There is more but it is very difficult to post to u-tube due to time limitation. Unfortunately
there is no more availability of the original series . I have a copy of the original from P.B.S because I was on the vid. and part of the documentary so they supplied me with a copy. It is very long and really difficult to break into segments.. I got LUCKY to take this small portion of the original and put it to the short u-tube format. The original is very long ! I will try to put another segment on .
do you know how arduous it is to get some footage like that? ... I've been trying to get clips like this for a while, so any that I see are jewels to me. (Especially interviews). ... Hence, my "con madre!" COMMENT! ... and I'll say it again! COOOOON MAAAARE! :D
Thank you ! I was in the footage playing trumpet with Joe and was fortunate enough to get to know the producer and she sent me an orginal copy (raw vid) that I managed to present this portion of.. It was kind of tricky !
