I do this to my 3yr old and 12 yr old daughters hair. They both hate when I do it but love the look when it's done. I noticed I do it different. I part the hair and pull a pony to the back and I french braid pulling from both sides and then let their hair down. I'm gonna try it your way next, only pulling from the front :)
