This seems to be a better choice since its cheaper and you can use all the music on your computer, am I right? Cuz all of that DJ equipment is far too much money for me.
You can be a great dj without all the expensive fancy gear, but no one will take you seriously till your using the big brand names. It's a political thing! Every dj has their own style and opinion on gear. Just continue to love the music you spin and the rest will come with time and experience. I don't want to sound like I was contradicting my original post from the last 2 posts, but it really depends on how good you are when your experienced till then the toys do help a lot!
Oh and if you want to be a DJ Producer you need to get gear from Allen & Heath (controllers, mixers), M-Audio (Torq), Pro Tools, Native Instruments Mashine Controller, A Couple Mac Books, Stage Monitors, Studio Monitors, Etc.
To start out maybe play around with FL Studio, Re-Birth, Reason and use a keyboard midi controller with a couple touch screen monitors. That will put you on your way to achieving the skills and having the gear. Then you just have to meet the right people.
Who care's about what gear you have! I can spin with traktor, virtual dj, serato, torq, dual decks, cdj's, etc. But I can also mix 2 records together with no software for visual assistance. It's not about the gear! It's about the skills the dj has but more importantly it's all about the music!
A good DJ can spin with any gear and sound good. Besides this is a demo video on the new mac software with a vestax controller. So who really cares what skill he has or what gear he's using.
agree man its all about the skillz and the love for music..ive been trying to get started in music production/mixing and creating tracks..and i dont know exactly how to get started tho. i mess around with garageband and shit but it just seems frustrating cuz i dont know what to do lol. im 17 and looking for any advice on how to get started in this career and to fulfill my love for my music. i would appreciate any comments!..thanks
To be honest, it sucks but your beginning abilities are limited to your financial situation! It all depends on what gear you can afford. I don't know what gear you have now, but I recommend using Serato Scratch Live with either Technics 1200's or Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK3's with a Pioneer DJM 600 or 800 mixer. Thats the setup that you want. But if you need to go cheap, go with American Audio products till you can afford the other gear. Use Abbleton Live or Pro Tools for music creation with Mashine.
well, it depends on what would you do. To start DJ ing (mixing) i reccomend you to use VirtualDJ it' smart and with keyboard shortcuts you can make good mixes. If you take it seriously you can advance to Ableton, and buy a midi controller ( total control, Westax, m-audio...) Ableton is good at pre mixing and making mash-ups. But if you want to create your own beats you should download reason or Logic and buy a midi keyboard. don't buy expensive stuff even Deadmau5 started with fl-studio

If I saw you DJing like that I would laugh my ass off. Actually, Im sitting here next to my 1210's and DJM 800 with Serato in shock that you have this in public. Learn to beat match. At MANY points scattered in this "mix" you trian-wrecked.
i use ableton on my mac and i'd make u look like an idiot with my mixes. if you want to scratch then spend a grand for all i care. but mixing wise u dont need shit but talent and ears.
Kaliber35. You probably dont even have 1210's or the 800. Your just a sad little man sat on here trying to belittle people with big brand dj brands, Good on you. This video was not entitled "OmGzz Im dA B3st DEEJAY Evaa" Its quite clearly just showing us a demonstration, so calm the fuck down you weird man.
however i am so gutted you can't get djay on XP :(
good mix man, hey I can't figure out how to pre-cue, I have a macbook pro and a dj io sound card, any tips on how to do it, what did u do on the settings?
