budget, syoung1994, budget. Everything has a cost: "No, you can not fire a twenty-foot diameter flame at a 10 ft demon. You can however shoot a bullet at this stuntman who has prosthetic horns and such." Sigh, if only they had put real money behind the series. Still, it is what it is, how I was introduced to the series.
The thing I don't like about this portrayal of Dresden is that he reminds me too much of my boss. Which totally makes things awkward when Dresden goes on about women.
To me, Dresden seems like he should be leaner, taller, cooler, and definitely funnier. He's like the Spiderman of the wizarding world. Shitty luck and tons of quips.
I was so disappointed that the book version of Bob wasn't Hrothbert of Bainbridge. I wish Jim Butcher would do a book series involving or about this version of Bob. His story feels unfinished and I want to know what happened in his past and with Winifred.
I'm sorry but...i like the show, its ok, but i love the books. they're great. i just dont get how he doesnt do much attack magic, and he uses a hocky stick and a drum stick for a staff and blasting rod. i kind get how he's a modern wizard using modern things, but it would be cool if he went some old-school, like in the books. but i guess over all the show's pretty cool
Well, he actually has done a fair bit of magic, but it's not the standard flashy stuff that you'd expect. Butcher and the producers tend to keep the magic a little more subdued, a subtle thing, instead of fireballs and lightning bolts.
Book and show Morgan both actually have a soft side. You see it here when Morgan does the right thing despite protocol and when you see him mourn and then listen to Jazz in Things that go Bump. Morgan in the books shows this more human side in Turn Coat.
I think this episode was meant to foreshadow the introduction of a show version of Thomas Raith but it never happened. :( This show deserved a better chance.
The sound effect of the "bonk" as the bottle hits him on the head makes it clear that in the script it was not meant to break however the character might have wanted it to break.
technocally ad r a gud the advertisement people pay a website to put ads on so youtube can get paid and wont have to shutdown the site also so people will keep on watchin they encourage youtube video makers to make more videos by payin them so more people will continue going on youtube so it wont have to shutdown anyways
The Dresden Files novels are good but different from the show. I love Thomas Raith in the novels. I wish the show had lasted long enough to introduce it's own version of him. I love Thomas in the books as much as I love Bob in the show. Jim Butcher (author of the books) once said we have to look at the books and show as separate worlds but with the same hero. I love both the show and books for different reasons. I miss this show. I would give anything for this show come back with new episodes.
i totally agree about Thomas! he is wonderful. i just randomly picked up one of these books in an airport and i fell in love with them. but it is very different from the show... i am not sure how i feel about the show.
Jim Butcher (author of The Dresden Files novels) once said you have to look at the show as a separate entity from the books. They're both good in their own way. I love Bob of the show as much as I love Thomas in the books. If you like Thomas I highly recommend the novella called Backup. It's the only story of The Dresden Files world so far told from outside Harry Dresden's perspective. It's told by Thomas. It's short but good. You may like it.
i think they did fairly well with keeping the personality of harry. bob isn't quite as horny, which i actually like better. it's hard to picture him in serious roles after Cats, even though he was in Les Mis.
Faith, I know exactly how you feel. I think the show's version of Bob is better than the book version too. Terrence Mann is diverse. He's a great actor. I saw him live on Broadway in 2001 when he was Dr. Frank in The Rocky Horror Show. You should have seen me the first time I watched The Dresden Files. I was like "Terrence Mann. Terrence Mann. Why is that name so familiar? Oh, my God! It's Dr. Frank N. Furter!" I wish they had given poor Bob's story closure before this series ended. I<3Bob
Oh, I love the twist ending of this episode. That was so good. I won't spoil it for those watching it for the very first time but the ending to this one is fantastic.
This bob is great!

@pres921 He does have a blasting rod. Remember, blasting rod is just a "Manly" euphemism for wand.

Actually he's mocking Terrence Mann's British accent. Think of a Brit playing an American playing a Brit. :-P
