  • The Queen Mary, Lovechild of Mauretania and Olympic, shes a fine ship and I hope she never meets an ill fate like the Lusitainia, Britannic, or Titanic

  • I Wish titanic did not sink so it's life will be like this Ship......HAIL QUEEN MARY AND TITANIC!!!!!

  • its really sad

  • This is so Excited. To see this ship leaving Enland for good, & sail to Long Beach, California. I love this video!

  • whats the msuic playing in the backround?

  • is Titanic never sunk, she would be in this video instead of Queen Mary, thumbs up if you agree

  • This is the second most beautiful ship that ever sailed on the ocean.

We all know titanic is number 1.

  • Thanks for sharing this momentous vid.

  • What a sad day that must have been, but i'm glad she is still here with us to enjoy, and i'm glad she is just a really short drive away so I can take my kids to go see her as well.

  • she sail with diesel engine or still steam engine???

  • @TheIserlohn123 Steam

  • wait a fact is in the 1930's r.m.s queen mary worked for the white srat liner. today the queen mary is live but she does not work for the white star liner . all the white star liner ships are in other places

  • @MrTitanic9 RMS Queen Mary was built after Cunard Line and White Star Line were merged into Cunard White Star Line Ltd. There for, the last White Star Line ships Britannic and Georgic were scrapped in the 1960's. The Nomadic is the only surviving White Star Liner left. Cunard White Star Line changed their name into Cunard Line again in 1950, when the Aquitania was being ready for scrap.

  • Why couldnt they do that to The Olympic, damn britts.

  • @Motorfordtoyota Olympic showed her age in begin 1930's. She nearly had the same problems as Aquitania had, and so had Mauretania.

  • Man, Queen Mary is still the Queen of the Ocean.

  • The Titanic was much luckier. It sank and became a legend. The Queen Mary is now sunk alive, stuck between worlds in Long Beach, where imagination died with the last Iowa Farmer in his beach house.

  • I saw her a couple weeks ago; she's undergoing renovations now, though, so hopefully she'll be better soon. She's every bit as majestic now as she was then, though!

  • the sad thing about the actual ship now is that the funnels are replicas - the actual funnels were so painted over so many times that they would like flake paint like crazy so they just made a replica - and the engines were removed

  • @Andrewmcmelonse The old funnels were actually rotting away.

  • @Andrewmcmelonse They made replicas of the stacks because when they removed them to extract the boilers, they fell apart, only being held together buy many coats of Cunard Red paint.

  • I wish she would sail again! She still is the most beautiful ocean liner ever built.

  • @TheRMSQueenMarySite Remember that she is very old, a ship at that age would have collapsed into it self. Queen Mary needs every year a small re-fit, she still has rust in one of her empty compartments.

But not a bad idea, or they should build an replica of her in cruise ship material. With all the old ships as a new one.

  • I visited her a few years ago in Long Beach, but I wasn't really interested in her then which really annoys me because now I am, so therefore I want to go back.

  • The only thing that had to be saved was the RMS Olympic, Mauretania and Aquitania.

  • if only titanic was as lucky as queen mary.

  • @alexandthomas you mean if only rms olympic was this luck.

  • @alexandthomas if titanic was as lucky as queen mary then 900 people on britannic would have died, and titanic would have followed the olympic, being painted with dazzle paint, and transport our troops in the war; and if titanic didnt sink then the luisitania wouldnt have had enough lifeboats and there would be another mass loss of life, it is a bad thing that titanic sank, but think of all the good that came out of it

  • @tomyv1661 I get what you are saying, but it's not true. We all share the good. There's enough for all of us because it's contagious. Which means we keep making more good and luck to other people. Just because Titanic sank does'nt mean good will happen next. Good and bad happen at the same time. Not one after the other. Even if the Titanic did not sink, 900 people could have died on the Britannic anyways. Life doesn't happen like this, it just happens with good and bad at the same time.

  • @tomyv1661 I'm sorry if I was too hard on you,but you need to know the right things and how life goes. This is how people survive. Get lots of money and live a happy life. And that's why we go to school. To get smart an have lots of money and survive. That's how life goes, it's just happens with good and bad at the same time or..... it just happens.

  • @alexandthomas she still would'nd exist ;)

  • If they charge people money to tour the ship youd think theyd use that money to maintain her. THey probally use it for something else, lol..... something stupid.

  • I so want to see her for real.

  • I may just be an old railroader but have seen a ship that big in person she is a beauty.

  • Now you're making me jealous!

  • Yes, I took QM2 transatlantic 2 years ago. My mother

took QM transatlantic while pregnant with me in 1957 and my twin brother. So I guess I could say I have sailed on them

    both.

  • I live not to far away from the Queen Mary, and it is always fun to pay her a visit and walk her main deck.

  • the queen mary is probally the 2nd fastest ship and Mauretania is the 4th fastest ship and I forgot the world's fastest passenger ferry....

  • that s false dont forget the France and the Normandie..

  • tell me there top speed

  • SS France 1962= 35.5 knots (and tallest ship in the world during 35y)

    SS Normandie 1935 = 33 knots

  • At least the Old Girl is still around, though they do need to spiff her up abit judging by Spiros78 comment.

  • Very sad and what's more sad when i saw her in Nov 2008 that she is looking so rusty the black paint is now like a dark grey and the red funnels are now more orange than red.

  • Thats sad that you mention that. She is such a Beautiful Famous ship. People visit The Queen Mary all the time. They really should keep her better maintained. That is sad. but unfortuantatly it is in the LA city Limits, and the City doesn't want to pay for it. I would think they would be responsible since it is a Big Tourist Attraction.

  • To LovesMike33; The ship in is Long Beach; it's not 'in the LA city limits' as you state.

  • The Orange Stacks are not faded. They have been recently painted. The 'Orange" color is actually the correct color; not red. It's called 'Cunard Red". The ship is in great shape.

  • Well maybe one day she will return, when someone will give them the millions to get her new boilers and engines, but as to the greatest ship, I have to say it was the rms Olympic, may she rip, may the QM last along time and save the ss United states.

  • Excellent footage.

  • what a beautiful goodbye!

  • I hope they have an unforgettable send off for the QE2 in November 2008. I bet the ship won't be able to move for fireworks, streamers, tickertape and fireboats not to mention hundreds of boats sounding their whistles and sirens.

  • How sad...
