@loveruleshate I didn't know it had the ability to take oil into the clouds. Now the clouds are spreading this toxic mess all over the that part of the of the US. Right now in Florida in the Johnsonville river they are experiencing a BIG fish kill. And no one seems to know why yet. This was reported by a local women on a radio station.
Good going BP ~ BOYCOTT BP~ ~ aND THANK YOU to our Gov for allowing them to CONTINUE to TELL us how it's going to handled..
Our grand children and great grand children will wonder why the USA had allowed a Corp to decide their standards of living with nature.. Then again, I think they will know why....
hope you know, the elite is trying depopulate the world, they have to reduce food supplies so poor people who dont have a bank account die, other people would take loan to survive. They coming at us from 1000 ways, and we still not getting the big picture. people who likes to live in a dream fantasy world, deserve pain here and after.
Water is polar, meaning it carries an electrical charge. Oil is non polar (without a charge) and is hydrophobic. Water and oil fail to bond. It is physically impossible to rain oil. This is basic chemistry.
@spydrworks Sure, but crude oil is also full of lighter petroleum materials that readily evaporate from the surface of the spill. Even completely hydrophobic materials can still dry deposit in the absence of water (sulfates, for example). At any rate, the real problem lies in the corexit dispersant evaporating from the surface along with the controlled burns of oil at the surface, both royally polluting the air and more likely the cause of this toxic rain.
@spydrworks My point was just that there is still the potential for some nasty rain due to the incorporation of oil burning byproducts and high vapor pressure components of the crude oil. I fully agree with you that the idea of raining oil is ridiculous.
maybe actual "oil" cannot, but it's by products is showing up. Start checking it out yourself if your in these areas. Put a glass outside when it rains, then go have it tested. Otherwise this is all lip service my friend..
@ou8one2forme...So you're stating it's "lip service" to say it's impossible to rain oil? Are you kidding me? And nothing in this video and many others have proven anything other than panic and hype.
@spydrworks, Starting to make the News.. Look it up, didnt ask u believe me..I did not say it's raining oil, you are. I am saying that down to the molecule level, it goes into the air. And then is carried by the air currents. I am not a scientist or any letters after my name. Nor act like it What about the commercial liners RIGHT now 15 miles out from the spill are wearing gas masks due to the fumes, and this can carry too. We should collect rain water and test it a few times over the summer
@spydrworks, And I am not referring to this video on the News either, other stories regarding like an organic farm and other areas.. You cannot tell me that this is not possible and think I would believe you either.. So, we would then need to agree to disagree..
@ou8one2forme...Yeah...ORGANIC farms are seeing white fuzzy patches on the leaves of their crops and making holes. That is OBVIOUSLY a living organism. And what is there to agree? It's not opinion. It is fact and a well established fact that oil and water do not bond and thus impossible to rain oil. Hydrocarbons from burning oil, yeah & Corexit compounds, but not oil. Try mixing oil and water and see for yourself.
Oh, yeah and I see you did not even approach the commentS about the commercial liners 15 miles from the oil spill having to wear gas masks.. Or the huge fish kill that is going on in Johnsonville river in Florida right now.. Yeah, BP has it under control.
An empty glass out when it rains and doing this thru the summer and having the rain water tested through out the states will show if this is possible or not.. YOU KEEP SAYING OIL MIXING WITH WATER. I have not once said OIL..
@spydrworks ~ wow.. Again, IGNORE THE QUESTIONS.. Can oil breakdown and or release any other chemicals..., Yes or no? ~ You need to learn to READ.
And what about the commercial liners having their passengers wear gas masks 15 miles from the spill... WE CAN ALL READ WHAT THE VIDEO TITLE IS HERE. But that was not my comment that you REPEATING yourself on me saying oil mixing with rain. I NEVER SAID OIL MIXED WITH RAIN.
@spydrworks Wow~ now talk about being civil in a comment thread. Do you kiss your mama with that mouth? You run your lip on my comment, yet will not answer A REAL question, instead you start attacking and then resorting to swearing at me Text style..
There is a national campaign underway to reform the seriously outdated Toxic Substance Control Act which would regulate things like the use of Toxic dispersants in the Gulf. Check out the video on our page about the Toxic Chemicals lobby - and spread the word
@SaferChemicals REGULATE! The Republican's John Boehner: wants a "moratorium" on all-regulations.... I guess he want's to gather up as much of that free Orange/brown oil slim to save on Coppertone tanning lotion.
Dont fight science, Just fucking look. No ones trying to Trick anyone here. this is the People telling the People. So listen. And drop yr jaw a little... the coastline is being destroyed.. and its fuckin raining oil.
@WickeDiLLusionZ Yes, you better move. CBS reported that a big Marvel comic type "Oil Monster' is going to attack Florida next Tuesday around lunchtime. He throws big flaming 'Oil Balls' at people and sounds like Godzilla. He also likes to stomp on houses.
Since that video looks like every road in the south in the summer after a rain I looked into this. Crude oil contains 2 kinds of aromatic hydrocarbons. Alkanes and alkenes. Alkanes are hydrophobic but are slightly soluble in water though they evaporate from the water quickly. Alkenes are soluble in bromide which is found in seawater. With a strong wind coming north from the Gulf this is theoretically possible although this particular video is not proof.
Very sad.. Unfortunately the American people have been hijacked by criminals running their country. The greed knows no bounds and the American people are the one's feeling the effects. The US government is the biggest terrorist organization in the world. One could absolutely say this catastrophe is karma. I don't think it is, I think it's a sign the government is crooked to all hell. They answer to money and do not have regard for the sheep. You guys really need a revolution there.
well anyways for all the people over on the other side of the world talking shit I hope that the oil reaches your shores in the near future and im pretty sure it will happen due to the dumbass british, this proves the fact that british people should not involve themselves with this world.
Your right it can! Also OSHA Pub 3388 Safety Awareness of Oil Spills page 32 says it plain as day!! Under the "Weathered Crude Oil" Section it says: Evaporation occurs when the lighter substances within the oil mixture
become vapors and leave the surface of the water.
@Ignorantwhy...those are vapors from gases mixed in the oil. The oil itself cannot stick to water to rise. Water evaporates at 100 degrees celcius. Oil evapoarates at 275 degrees celcius and up. Where's the water for it to get into the clouds with? It's long gone.
Off course it can happen. remember BP is using chemicals that break the oil into microscopic particles, if in the past it has rained frogs and fish in europe oil is completely believable. I feel so sorry for you guys in the south. I wish there was something we could do, what can we do???
So what are you citizens going to do about it? Wait till they totally destroy the country and there is no way back? *sigh* Well, that's how it probably will happen...
@Skankindragon1 Thank your own selves for not following the consitution. Your all fucked, and that goes for us in Canada too, RIOT ALREADY PUSSIES. Take back America. Put in Ron Paul, and do something right for once you fucks
Face the fact that the human race does not have the technology to stop the oil from gushing into the gulf. We just don't. It has been and will continue to gush over 4.2 million gallons per day into the gulf for several years. Anything that they do now would in actuality be a waste of money and only prolong the inevitable. The coast will have to be evacuated about 30-50 miles inland eventually, starting in the gulf but eventually extending up the entire eastern seaboard. wow
There is also oil on the street....actually everytime it rains on city streets there is oil in the water...you need better proof. UMMMM...like oil in a puddle nowhere near the street ...HELLLO!!!! we all drive leaky oily cars all over the street....Not saying its not happening just saying get some better footage so no one can prove you wrong.
Where does the saying "its raining cats and dogs" come from???
There has been so many instances of it raining fish around the world, google it and see the pics/videos.
So if storms can pick up fish there is no reason why they cant pick up oil. Certain elements of crude oil evaporate quicker and are more flammable at lower tempratures.
Anybody who says this cannot happen are living in delusion and they need to do there research before using there fingers to write bullshit.
@bemorecarefull You are talking apples and oranges here. Yes, once in a blue moon a tornado will pick up fish or frogs and if there is oil on the water it could pick that up too. However in this instance it would have been from evaporation and while three different gasses do evaporate from oil the heaver stuff is left behind and once they evaporate it's not like water condensing again, it's like putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. It simply doesn't work.
What this might be is the Corexit 9500 dispersal agent that BP is pumping into the oil well. This highly toxic chemical is designed for colder water like that in the Northern Atlantic, and quickly evaporates in the warm waters of the Gulf. The agent is water soluble, and easily mixes with the clouds and falls as toxic rain.
P.S. I hope I'm wrong. Oil is much better for the environment that Corexit 9500.
A possible scenario, BP finds huge fields, keeps it secret, spills the oil, shares nose dive, scammers buy at bottom, BP reports loss saves taxes, within months, HuUge New fileds are announced shares rocket scammers sell at top, billions are made, millions are duped and environment is damaged byond repair.
The methane, ethane, and propane all evaporate out of the oil but the heavy stuff is left behind and becomes tar balls. The evaporating hydrocarbons can contribute pollution problems of their own, combining with ozone to form smog, for instance. But they don't recombine to form oil that can subsequently return as a component of rain drops. Poor research on your part. Look it up at the Christian Science Monitor.
@IAmTheCthulhu Thats really funny! It really is an oxymoron for sure. Actually, it's a pretty even handed news orginization and does good science as far as I know. I have never heard anything bad about them. Liberals think it is right wing and conservatives think it is socalist propoganda.
That's why the communist said American would fall without a fight with them, but change us from within disguised as socialism. Through the educational system the past years, to now. All they needed was Obama and his czars.
It's happening already and Americans don't even recognize it.
@NeedMoreLumber I can assure you only very few chemists will know whether it is possible for oil to rain. To know the answer you must know the composition of oil and more than 90% of all chemists do not know - not because they are stupid, but simply that info falls outside their field of expertise.
@NeedMoreLumber@YourLastViewer Thank you!!! I sure do wish these people who are insulting others had the brain power to do their own research and just Google "oil evaporation oil spill". But I guess most are either too lazy, stupid, or ignorant to even bother to check it out. But this isn't a gallon of cooking oil poured in a bath tub, this is far more serious than most people seem to think sorry to say.
@bleibrandpolsky These home-schooled-fools won't get it until the other 23,000+ oil rigs fail. Look how they voted the Bush/Cheney/Oil team in "twice".
@YourLastViewer Thank You!!! Seems every time I get ready to shut down comments I get a nice sensible one. I think some of these comments come from ppl that think we're saying the 'rain' is literally 'oil'. I don't know but I've had it with the boneheads that say oil doesn't evaporate and it could not rain oil. Then when I post a link with a study done on oil evaporation someone comes up with another comment about not trusting govt studies. I think they just want to argue & not do research
i live down here, and i can tell you that its not raining oil. we had flash flooding and the water in the sewers bubbled up into the streets.... thats why its not on our cars, not on our houses. im sure you know what flash floods are right?
Over the ocean surface, the most common particles are salt from salt spray produced by breaking waves. Except in areas of storminess, the most common areas of breaking waves are located near coastlines, hence the greatest densities of airborne salt particles are there.
@korencek The poster claims oil evaporates, then fish must also evaporates - wow! No not evaporation, but a mechanical action. And, by the way, no ordinary wind will ever be able to lift fish from the water. Only strong winds like those in a twister are able to do this.
@cobra77mw2 If it is large enough, an oil spill may in fact prevent a hurricane from growing or it may even counteract the intensity of the hurricane because the oil spill could starve the hurricane from its energy source - hot water.
I see this oily sludge running out of swamps here in Florida all the time. This is BULL SHIT!!!! witha Capital "B" "S". The people around here that I"ve shown the video have want some of ya'lls pot!. It's a black water swamp people. Do you see the orange rusty sludge on the drain grate? Thats a dead give away! No raining oil. Just ground gunk oozing out of the ground AND THE ASPHALT TOO!! LMFAO!!!
I have been saying this for months now, for Americans end times are near...please get out of America..because you are good people....I'm saying this again..by the end of 2010..you won't recognize america....see the proof right before your eyes.
Now the hurricane, evacuation, loot coming on your way....CNN, FOX will never cover even when you are dead..divide and rule
I'm done debating this issue - this video, as it is being portrayed, is totally false! Oil DOES NOT evaporate unless BOILED above 300 degress! Anyone who believes that oil "rains" is uneducated. True, it could be carried by a hurricane and, yes, given the chemicals being used to break up the oil, they do make the oil atoms "lighter" but still NOT light enough to evaporate into the Earth's weather system as rain. Case Closed!
Nice try Poindexter, When are you gonna post that video of your "glow in the dark Frisbee" and tell us it`s an invasion from outer space? You are hideous!
@watcherkatt the only thing we can do now is refuse their job offerings, and boycott all their products under BP or any other name associated with the company completely, but that is not going to take this toxic liquid out of the sea
It's probably the dispersants. Oil would not be able to evaporate into the weather system if it wasn't thinned down. What do other people think about that?
It's possible that a world war could develop if the oil kills primary fish hatcheries around the world. And it will get there if it gets into the main currents around the bottom of the Florida panhandle. Blue fin tuna may be extinct very soon if this doesn't stop. There is no sign that it will.
looks like gas that is normally on the road from cars driving on it... if it has been a few days since it has rained, those oils can accumulate and it will look like this. Probably just never noticed that before. I don't think it is raining oil...
@anythung22 Yes it can. I have put a link in my description to a study "Evaporation of Oil Spills" done by Environment Canada (who I'd trust way before I'd trust our EPA).
@bleibrandpolsky No it cannot, it is physically impossible for oil to evaporate. This has been proven by science hundreds of years ago. Show some concrete source that says oil can magically evaporate
@asre2001 Well why don't you watch this video and realize reality. THERE IS OIL RAINING do you not see that.there does not have to be someone to confirm that it ''COULD RAIN'' oil make your own conclusion, stop letting oter people make decisions fro you if your watching a video with oil coming down as rain then your answer is right there .
@asre2001 I have shown a 'concrete source' many times. Read the description for the link to the study. I have put a link in my description to a study "Evaporation of Oil Spills" done by Environment Canada (who I'd trust way before I'd trust our EPA).
@anythung22 Well apparently it can if you see hard proof right there. Its sad to see. its not just going to happen in the south its coming to the east. hurricanes are going to rip through MA in a few days. ask me how i know this ahead of time then watch my videos.
@anythung22 Yes, oil can evaporate, BUT the evaporation must not be confused with the alleged oil raining. Any volatile will evaporate untill the air above it becomes saturated with the vapor - only then will the vapor condense and turn into fine droplets. This happens on Titan and other exotic solar objects, but NOT on earth because long before saturation is reached the vapor will encounter a hot suface, ignites and explode ...... continue ... 1/2
@anythung22 continue 2/2 ... oil observed in rain will not originate from evaporated oil, but rather from very fine oil droplets carried into the area by wind as an aerosol. Aerosols can be formed in several ways. Strong winds blowing over a spill and mechanically picking up fine oil droplets and carry them away. Oil spills or wells on fire could be another source where the strong air currents in such a fire lifts droplets high into the sky.
People saying BP should be gone are a bunch of Idiots, maybe you don't relize the millions of jobs that would be lost if u put them out of business, it wouldn't fix the spill it would just make the economy of the world worse...idiots...
@HURULES What about all the jobs that are being lost because of BPs greed and lack of responsibility on safety. They were told there was a problem and they insisted on doing what they wanted anyhow.
@bleibrandpolsky You can put all the blame on BP as you want, but this is just as must an issue with government.
Who told BP they can drill there? The government did. Who told BP that if they mess up, they're only liable up to 73 million? The government did. Who told the BP execs that if they do mess up and get sued, it'll be a fictitious legal entity known as BP that wil get sued, and not them? The government. Who made it so that fishing companies can't own land out there? The government did.
@HURULES Moron - BP and their Oil spill is costing millions of jobs. Plus you know, they are completely destroying the environment. A bit more concerning that a few jobs that are being lost no matter what is happening.
Total BS. This would be completely measureable if he caught everything in a clean bucket. Furthermore, oil does not evaporate like oil does. Why do you think they use it as a lubricant in car engines rather than water? Complete bs.
Ridiculous. Anyone can go down to their nearest stormdrain, stand with their back to the sun and see the same thing. In fact you can see it on any wet road or wet driveway. The oil is on the road, it comes from vehicles not from the sky. Coincidence that there is an RV parked next to where they are filming? No.
You know, if it wasn't for the likes of you, me and most others on the planet wanting oil based products, we wouldn't be in this situation would we? The other thing is, why just BP taking all this crap flack; have folks forgotten that BP hired Transocean Ltd. (the US Division of this Swiss based company) (NYSE: RIG), the world's largest offshore drilling contractor to manage, supply all equipments and staff the operation. BP's involvment was simply to pay for it, so that WE can burn more oil !

Water is polar, meaning it carries an electrical charge. Oil is non polar (without a charge) and is hydrophobic. Water and oil fail to bond. It is physically impossible to rain oil. This is basic chemistry.
spydrworks 1 year ago
@spydrworks Sure, but crude oil is also full of lighter petroleum materials that readily evaporate from the surface of the spill. Even completely hydrophobic materials can still dry deposit in the absence of water (sulfates, for example). At any rate, the real problem lies in the corexit dispersant evaporating from the surface along with the controlled burns of oil at the surface, both royally polluting the air and more likely the cause of this toxic rain.
rileygannon 1 year ago
@rileygannon...And how does all of that sum into raining oil, which is physically impossible?
spydrworks 1 year ago
@spydrworks My point was just that there is still the potential for some nasty rain due to the incorporation of oil burning byproducts and high vapor pressure components of the crude oil. I fully agree with you that the idea of raining oil is ridiculous.
rileygannon 1 year ago
@spydrworks
maybe actual "oil" cannot, but it's by products is showing up. Start checking it out yourself if your in these areas. Put a glass outside when it rains, then go have it tested. Otherwise this is all lip service my friend..
Kinda like BP...
ou8one2forme 1 year ago
@ou8one2forme...So you're stating it's "lip service" to say it's impossible to rain oil? Are you kidding me? And nothing in this video and many others have proven anything other than panic and hype.
spydrworks 1 year ago
@spydrworks, Starting to make the News.. Look it up, didnt ask u believe me..I did not say it's raining oil, you are. I am saying that down to the molecule level, it goes into the air. And then is carried by the air currents. I am not a scientist or any letters after my name. Nor act like it What about the commercial liners RIGHT now 15 miles out from the spill are wearing gas masks due to the fumes, and this can carry too. We should collect rain water and test it a few times over the summer
ou8one2forme 1 year ago
@spydrworks, And I am not referring to this video on the News either, other stories regarding like an organic farm and other areas.. You cannot tell me that this is not possible and think I would believe you either.. So, we would then need to agree to disagree..
ou8one2forme 1 year ago
@ou8one2forme...Yeah...ORGANIC farms are seeing white fuzzy patches on the leaves of their crops and making holes. That is OBVIOUSLY a living organism. And what is there to agree? It's not opinion. It is fact and a well established fact that oil and water do not bond and thus impossible to rain oil. Hydrocarbons from burning oil, yeah & Corexit compounds, but not oil. Try mixing oil and water and see for yourself.

With a strong wind coming north from the Gulf this is theoretically possible although this particular video is not proof.

become vapors and leave the surface of the water.

@Ignorantwhy In the copy I just downloaded it is on pg 28 but regardless of the page it say exactly the same thing. :)

Face the fact that the human race does not have the technology to stop the oil from gushing into the gulf. We just don't. It has been and will continue to gush over 4.2 million gallons per day into the gulf for several years. Anything that they do now would in actuality be a waste of money and only prolong the inevitable. The coast will have to be evacuated about 30-50 miles inland eventually, starting in the gulf but eventually extending up the entire eastern seaboard. wow

Anybody who says this cannot happen are living in delusion and they need to do there research before using there fingers to write bullshit.
bemorecarefull 1 year ago
@bemorecarefull You are talking apples and oranges here. Yes, once in a blue moon a tornado will pick up fish or frogs and if there is oil on the water it could pick that up too. However in this instance it would have been from evaporation and while three different gasses do evaporate from oil the heaver stuff is left behind and once they evaporate it's not like water condensing again, it's like putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. It simply doesn't work.
Quixote1818 1 year ago
What this might be is the Corexit 9500 dispersal agent that BP is pumping into the oil well. This highly toxic chemical is designed for colder water like that in the Northern Atlantic, and quickly evaporates in the warm waters of the Gulf. The agent is water soluble, and easily mixes with the clouds and falls as toxic rain.
P.S. I hope I'm wrong. Oil is much better for the environment that Corexit 9500.
imthefrizzlefry 1 year ago
A possible scenario, BP finds huge fields, keeps it secret, spills the oil, shares nose dive, scammers buy at bottom, BP reports loss saves taxes, within months, HuUge New fileds are announced shares rocket scammers sell at top, billions are made, millions are duped and environment is damaged byond repair.
ebodyknowsit 1 year ago
The methane, ethane, and propane all evaporate out of the oil but the heavy stuff is left behind and becomes tar balls. The evaporating hydrocarbons can contribute pollution problems of their own, combining with ozone to form smog, for instance. But they don't recombine to form oil that can subsequently return as a component of rain drops. Poor research on your part. Look it up at the Christian Science Monitor.

POTENTDOMAIN 1 year ago
@anythung22 Yes, oil can evaporate, BUT the evaporation must not be confused with the alleged oil raining. Any volatile will evaporate untill the air above it becomes saturated with the vapor - only then will the vapor condense and turn into fine droplets. This happens on Titan and other exotic solar objects, but NOT on earth because long before saturation is reached the vapor will encounter a hot suface, ignites and explode ...... continue ... 1/2
oomblikkies 1 year ago
@anythung22 continue 2/2 ... oil observed in rain will not originate from evaporated oil, but rather from very fine oil droplets carried into the area by wind as an aerosol. Aerosols can be formed in several ways. Strong winds blowing over a spill and mechanically picking up fine oil droplets and carry them away. Oil spills or wells on fire could be another source where the strong air currents in such a fire lifts droplets high into the sky.
