Most reports I've heard say that Jon was let go by Ed and Brandi (Ed's wife, Ozrics' current keyboard player) because they didn't think they needed him anymore. :(

I've seen them a few times since Jon C. was let go.

It's still a good show, and I wouldn't say there's a gaping hole onstage now either....but some of the magic is, sadly, irretrievably gone.

Jon was great fun to hang out with, and I miss him.

I wholeheartedly agree. He really was the soul or character of the band. The shows since are about 2/3 as good imho. Brandy is a rather constipated performer. Not bad, but not great, either.
