  • I think that was a wonderful response. I just wish you had not made assumptions about the man who asked the question. I would guess that he was likely genuinely curious.

  • Comment removed

  • lol, fat blob making money off something he doesn't beleive in. He does it for the money don't believe any other answer. Is he drunk again?

  • @TheEodtch You can't show that sort of passion and be in it for the money. Also I don't see it as making money of something he doesn't believe in, in fact I'd call it the opposite. He truly believe in his cause. If I was a minister I wouldn't say I was making money off of the Hinduism which I don't believe in. Although if he wasn't being paid then he might not be able to afford live comfortably.

  • @Cruzader80 That made no sence.

  • @TheEodtch sense* I make some mistakes. I'm sorry you cant read past them.

  • @Cruzader80 Your mistake is writing to people when you are an idiot. Do you think anyone wants you writing to them? Did I write to your dumb ass begging for your opinion? Oh, no I didn't think so. How about you stop begging people for attention.

  • @TheEodtch When you share your opinion on a public forum then you should expect that some people will reply to your opinions especially when you are posting ignorant exaggerated nonsense. Why even bother replying if you don't want my opinion.

  • @Cruzader80 I'm not sharing my opinion I was stating a fact. If you are going to beg at people feet you shouldn't be such a dumb ass.

  • @TheEodtch You're an idiot. You post comments on a regularly viewed video calling the well educated and respected subject of it a fat, drunken slob and don't expect comments from others responding with their opinion? Stop trying to take the moral high-ground when it is you that is intending to illicit a response, probably intentionally. Hell, you probably commented so that someone would acknowledge your pathetic life.

  • @banjobenjo Well since I'm not going to read your post I will just say thanks, I am glad you agree with everything I say.. Have a great day retard.

  • @TheEodtch

No, he made money from journalism and literature.

He believed in what he said, very strongly. Would you like to refute something he said?

  • @seansalvador1 I am not arguing what he is saying. I just think he is a bloated drunk fool. I am agnostic and I don't really care if people have false beliefs in gods as long as they are moral. This guy would probably go around to kindergarten classes and push little kids down and tell them they are stupid for believing in Santa Clause.

  • @TheEodtch

You strike me as a person who has never really actually read a single word the man wrote on the subject of morality.

  • @seansalvador1 Oh I really give a shit less what I strike you as. Why would I care what a dipshit like you thinks of me? you are nothing just like your fat bloated drunk friend Kitchens.

  • @TheEodtch

If you really thought all that, you would have refrained from typing altogether.

  • @seansalvador1 That made no sense. Are you retarded or just pretending?

  • @TheEodtch You're a real classy act huh. You know nothing of what this man stands for.

  • @Cruzader80 Yes I am thank you. Much more than I can say about you.

  • Always remembered Hitchens

  • "tho i do some nights stay home, i enjoy more the nights i go out and fight against this ultimate wickedness and ultimate stupidity"

  • Hitch Slapped!

  • Love the izraeli example its something thats should really be used more

  • @cropathfinder yeah i agree Israel is terrible and needs to get the F out of Palestine. Israel is nothing more than a 51st state of the US.

  • @dillinger9999 not a good one since they acualy influence what the US goverment i would rather say that they assrape the US goverment but i find the very existance of that state in its current from offensive as a human being its a military state that if left uncheck would easily commit ethnic cleansing and genocide imo if the UN wasnt a sack of useless shit it would split its territory and goverment like it did with Bosnia & Hercegovina and force cooperation

  • lol the guy that asked the question started to clap

  • Blue Shirt maybe should of ''stayed home''...Hitchslapped.

  • @cantthinkofone77 Or maybe just clapped more.

  • RELIGION IS ALL MADE BY THE SAME PERSON!!

Don't you all see the connections!

    Religion is cancer..

  • @hehefromhere What do you mean the same person? Religion is a tree of deceit that has been growing for thousands of years and as far as I know there is no single source but rather a large collection of cowardly people that recognize it's power and willfully assist it in it's assassination of the brilliant future of humanity.

  • im glad the guy that asked the question clapped at the end of hitchens answer..though not for long..at least he was one to listen..most just stick there fingers in there ears and scream LaLala

  • The guy who posed the question was clapping at the end :)

  • The guy who asked the question has no idea what the answer really was because he was silently praying to the spaghetti monster.

  • We'll stay at home once religion is gone and humanity has moved forward.

  • @ThePhantom135 It will take a long time to rid humanity of religion. Perhaps that is an impossible feat in itself. Personally, if America's Christians were willing to stay the f*ck out of politics and scientific research.... things would be great. I don't mind that someone believes in Christianity. Often times this delusion inspires American's to do good deeds and to become successful. As long as religion has no control I am not opposed to it.

  • @MrSamySara Do you know who America was founded by? Or even our fore-fathers? Simple history lesson. What religion were the people in question that gave birth to such a great country? Compare that time with the 'now' then look back at your post and ask yourself if you have openly accepted your own stupidity or if you just choose to ignore it. I'm sure whatever comment your post in response will ensure great hilarity.

  • Not a slap-down - just a generous answer to a poor question.

  • Why don't we stay home? Why don't we shut up?

Because the disgusting and TOXIC idea of god and all the damage it does and allows for hasn't stayed home.

  • @hehefromhere The fact that these greatest evil's have the "stamp of God" (for example, Hitler's crediting of God in beginning of 'Mein Kompf', 100% of suicide bombers are faith-based, North Korea, etc.) should show just how wicked religion, can be and is. Personally, I do not operate on faith or beliefs, because if I can't explain something, I find it rediculous and counter-productive to make up an explanation, and say it's 100% true, without evidence to back up that explanation.

  • @mog1255 It usually is your own ego refusing to admit there's something your mind can't explain.

So it drives you to think that believing in god is ultimately more ulterior than not knowing because that which you want to assimilate and don't is just "beyond human comprehension".

God, and everything that one attributes to god is nothing more than a projection of the ego.

And the ego will drive you to your own destruction in order to ensure you defend it's "honor".

  • Im not religious, but the problem with most atheist people is that they don't understand how insanely evil people can be! but Hitchens seems to be right on the money :)) I like some of the old beliefs tho' i think they actually set people free and make them stronger, like vikings, indians, mayans etc etc etc.. because they do not control with fear.

  • The independant and free thinking people of the world lost a great warrior for enlightenment with the recent death of the man known as Christpher Hitchens ...

  • Comment removed

  • Hitchslap...

  • Wonder if it occured to him that atheists who thought about religion the same like him were :

HITLER, Stalin, Mao, Brezhnev, Pots, Kim Jung,

  • Hitchens is dishonest, he hides behind the cloak of altruism and philanthropy as reasoning for his perpetual opposition to theists but is conspicuously selfish, misanthropic and egotistical. He doesn't give a crap about the world, he just likes antagonizing Religious people.

  • @balamanti2 Read some books.

  • @melbyek

Books, you mean the atheists brain washing propaganda books?

"A camel can not see its hump unless it breaks it neck"

I you have logic you argue with logic

books! That is a good one, I wonder how many books different from the brain washing flagrant website you read!

Remember & Learn this saying : A camel can not see its hump unless it breaks it neck!

I bet U did not read that in the books ur reading

    HA!

  • @balamanti2 I have no idea what you're on about... Statistically, atheists know much more about religion than theists. Break your own neck and save us the trouble.

  • @balamanti2 Next time you're trolling don't pretend to be this much of a dumbass because people won't even believe you hahha nice try though

  • @asaw1994

read again, instead of repeating parrot mantras

  • @balamanti2 the pope condones the indirect death of millions in africa by refusing to suggest condom use. That is because he is an idiot, not because he is a christian. Hitler was a catholic with support from the roman church. Stalin and Mao built religions around themselves.

  • @Znybar

    "refusing to suggest condom use"

u seem to agree to limitation of black race & human population (Francis Galton - Fonder of Eugenics movement for NAZIS)

    "Hitler was a catholic "

Same like Bil Maher, Dawkins & Hitchens are catholics too

    LOL

you are kid, go back to your joystick boy

    Oh

  • @balamanti2 Fix your grammar. I don't see how I agree to the limitation of black people (race is a wrong term btw, any biologist will tell you that). Using condoms would save millions of them you idiot, considering how rampant the AIDS crisis is. No, Hitler had direct papal support (the pope directed mass for him) because back then the catholics still accused the jews of deicide (very funny). Hence racism being largely a religious ideal (funny how islamic extremism has similar tendencies).

  • @Znybar

    " Fix your grammar"

the grammar is good enough for, since morons like u r happy with the Englishtum

  • @balamanti2 I don't understand a word you've just said. If you can't be bothered trying to be understood I cant be fucked having a discussion with you.

  • @Znybar

"You can't be fucked" you mean ur looking to be fucked gay moron? your logic, world view & human view are shit. So there's no point -to mess up- to fix a shit

  • @balamanti2 Turning an actual discussion where you were being handed your own ass in a silver platter into schoolyard name calling.

    How pathetic.

Certainly sums up how far your own intellect will take you when it comes to defending your statements.

  • @Ebvardh

Another mental masturbation by the atheists masturbators

  • @balamanti2 If by mental masturbation, you mean intellectual practices which serve no practical purpose, I could maybe make a comment in the direction of certain less fact-based attitudes and exercises which are ultimately pointless.

Do you fancy Methodist or Lutheran?

  • @balamanti2 You know, I don't get it, man. You're on these videos, arguing people who agree with the points being made on them.

    How?

Like, have you actually listened to each point they make before arguing in the comments?

Have you allowed yourself to reason what it says in the videos, and hear everything they say, and still after watching these videos come to the ultimate conclusion that there is a god?

And still said "reality still shows me there obviously is a god which I know is there"?

  • Comment removed

  • @balamanti2 Then why are we even talking?

Besides, I'd love to hear how he or even me are wrong.

I can mock every quasi-point you make too, but that's not an actual conversation; that's grade-school bullshit.

If I'm wrong, tell me anything that relates to it. I'm utterly indifferent to anything that's not your argument, your opinion of my "level of intellect" and your reaction to my opinions included.

Do you have a counter-argument, yes or no?

  • Comment removed

  • @balamanti2 I have not accused religion of the death of millions; in fact, the only thing I've done is a sarcastic remark that vaguely leads to the conclusion that religious practice is ultimately pointless in a practical sense.

You're either a troll, or you need to slow down your own arguments. I don't actually think you're not thinking enough, it seems like you're thinking way faster than you can grasp and externalize your own ideas.

Slow down; You think too fast.

  • No clap from him. He got shut down :D

  • Cause we want to build a better would without Fiction

  • You can tell the answer is flying right over the guy's head.

  • That answer was so elegant, elaborate, sophisticated and so well delivered, that I forget what that dickhead even asked.

  • Boooooooooooooom

  • @MArtinezNINux if you repent truelly and seek jesus and accept him, that believe you had became reality because he will give you the most amazing experience and reletionship which will destroy all ur doubts. and thoughts. ask him to give it to you and you will born again. you will even see and feel the holy sprit aswell. then you will understand everything.

also nobody told me i would have this experience if ask jesus.

also i was typical christian and believer once, i didnt have any experience

  • @MArtinezNINux and you instead of asking why god does that why he ignore them or what ever , let him know better ok? you judge anyone how holy is someone and whats the true reletionship with god. listen as long ur far away from god anything you see in the world you will see it against god. because you wont understand the reasons for it. because u dont have reletionship with god. you said that you lost ur faith , then u was just believing. u didnt have reletionship with jesus nor the experience

  • You been Hitchslapped

  • i love how he trys to make himself comfortable by moving and fidgeting and crossing his legs and the water bottle

  • and everything he says is just out of the very books themselves that are considered to be divinely inspired.

  • but the thing is once you have the experience those things you hope became reality and you see cleary not only those things are writen in the bible but the whole world. and the plans of god. and all the reasons for it.

  • we are strong in our believe not because just one book says so or because someone told us , but most of this amazing experience , because if you do not have this experience,

you just believe something because someone just told you or you born in religion family or even because is writen in the book, and as long someone doesn't have this personal experience the rest you read or listening you just simple say i believe and hope for it...

  • @GokyBoo Hello, I am an atheist, and I would like to ask you a couple of questions and attempt to make you critically examine your belief if you don't mind. You don't have to respond, but I would very much like if you do.

Do you ever think that your experiences can be wrong? And not just yours--by everyone is your religion/faith. Do you find it possible that perhaps this may all be simply wishful thinking? Or perhaps selective thinking?

Do you think you can be wrong?

  • READ THIS Please, guys stop listening to the people who doesn't give a crap about ur life , jesus is real The thing is , is not just believe but is personal experience for example once you repent and ask jesus to come in ur life,

you will have one amazing experience of evidence,

how ever when i did that , nobody told me i would experience that so i make clear to you 100% is trully also i learn that afterwards.

  • @GokyBoo well could I ask a question? If he is real, then why would he never answer countless prayers besides the ones that were already in line to happen(like praying for people sick to get better)?. why would he isolate so many who ask for him? because of a test? well it was once I lost faith that I got over some tribulations in my life. I've learned that once you accept something straight up, it doesn't haunt your mind than when in denial

  • DAYUM. Hitchslapped!! haha!

  • Fantastic hitchslap.

  • lmao.

  • Why the hell would You go against Hitchens .

The battle is lost before it ever begins .

  • You just have to sit back in awe of someone who can just speak so wonderfully and if the guy who asked the question wasn't convinced (which I suspect he wasn't) by such a perfect answer then I pity the stupid sod. RIP Hitch

  • Wow, he got Hitchslapped.

  • Classic Hitchslap

    Hope you enjoyed it, bitch

  • @TheIndianaatheist In ths context the term bitch is changed ino Biatch :)

  • Somehow I didn't think audience gathered to hear Hitch speak would look more like the crowd at the local tractor pull... Fascinating....

  • BOOM. (...angry question guy doesn't clap in the end. he doesn't like it when reality screws with his imaginary freind)

  • Yep.That's a hitchslap.

  • owned.

  • I've always thought that superstition has been a flaw in our psychological evolution as it is a self-destructive part of us that stalls advancing technologies and science and society.

But now I think about it, maybe, on some perspective, this self-destructive nature is our own human culling system to keep the population at a manageable level.

It's not a very efficient one because although only the stupid humans will want to kill, its not just the stupid humans that will be killed. New theory?

  • @N64isgreat I think superstition stems from our instinct to assume agency in anything we don't know or understand.

  • I loved the look of astonishment on the faces of a few audience members.

  • who will ever fill his shoes? :'(

  • Christopher Hitchens... pwning theists like a baws.

  • I think a whole room of people converted to atheism that day

  • @RickyBalboa04 One would hope...

  • WOW. I love how he just explains everything with logic. It's pretty intense and it leaves people with nothing else to say, haha. :)

  • god bless Christopher Hitchens.

  • ~*~OwNeD~*~

  • basically he boils the whole argument down to totalitarianism vs egalitarianism

  • The look on that guy's face was pure hatred. lol.

  • @katinkers So it wasn't just my imagination. Religion is a hate based philosophy, which is most pronounced in the Redneck, ...uhm, OK,I'm stuck. I don't think rednecks have enough between their ears to have a Philosophy. ;-)

  • @somthinjustaintright lol not at all. for some reason grown men and women have the same maturity about their metaphysical beliefs as children have about sharing. its much easier to be self centered and hostile. that guy was totally hatefucking him in his mind

  • @katinkers NOW I get it. They're like seagulls, mine mine mine mine mine. Thanks for the clarification. lol

  • His dead now, now he will see if he was wrong or right.

    What a terrible end...

  • @TheEgzi I'm not sure he had a terrible life ..he did what he loved and made his point on his own terms . Most of us will never do this (really!) So. If his life was cut short , sadly any one of us could find this reality . None the less he was loved, I'm sure and his life was well spent. I'm sure where ever he is now ,he is entertaining some great discussions , no doubt.

  • @TheEgzi

do you realy know what end is waiting for you,or you think you are above and beyound, nobody know maybe you'll die sceaming.

  • @TheEgzi What the fuck are you talking about? Go back to your childish fairytales, you contribute nothing to society.

  • Maybe that audience member should have stayed home....

  • I've read many of Hitch's books and seen almost every shred of youtubery which bears is name, and this is one of the biggest ownings he's ever laid. Probably because of the inquirer's condescending tone. Silly silly man.

  • I think the guy who asked the question may be Turek's faher. Early in the debate Turek mentions his father is there (and points in the same direction as the man is seated)

  • Coffee house philosophy and flabidacious intellect. The postedation is truly undilequatious. I say fingiachi and the moral question of 1st century jestevation is dualdifferating the quality of God. Period. So take a step back and litificate. Maybe everyone will come to a peaceful portoritry.

  • And in the end, Hitchens was killed by an enemy he didn't have the courage to fight. The Tobacco Industry! Talk about the "ultimate wickedness and ultimate stupidity" . It is no more perfectly evident than the relationship between the tobacco industry and it's addicted victims. Tobacco kills 5 MILLION people per year worldwide and is on track to kill 3 million more per year by 2030!

  • @432ps1

Its ok - we're got plenty of people. Tabacco could kill five times the number its doing now - and we'd still have plenty of people left.

It hardly even makes dent in the birth rate.

  • @ackmonra Then feel free to smoke 'em if you've got 'em I say!

  • @satanidomini Precisely the point I wished to make. Perhaps my use of the term "straw man" was misplaced here. I meant to suggest the questioner was setting up a ball for Hitchens to knock out of the field. Thanks, you put it much better than I.

  • RIP Christopher. You are sorely, deeply missed. :(

  • This is a very unfair description of the guy asking the question. He's obviously setting up a straw man for Chris to knock down. He asks the question, listens politely to Hitch's polite response, and applauds at the end.

All you jumping on the bandwagon of slagging the questioner off are just pathetic.

  • @mrswinkyuk Strawman, seriously? Grow up. He is your average religious person and completely meant what he said, he's just a moron.

  • @dabomb1357 Did you watch this all the way through? Or doesn't your attention span streach that far? The questioner CLAPS at the end, YOU grow the fuck up.

My admiration for Hitchens and Dawkins is always spoiled by the mob mentality of YouTube comments on both sides of this argument. You profess to admire these people then behave in ways they never would.

  • @mrswinkyuk He clapped once so people didn't start staring at him and then did everything he could to ignore hitchens.

Your admiration? Are you kidding me? You're a moron. You're insulting hitchens by saying it was a straw man, like he was incapable of doing that legitiamtely. You betray incredible ignorange and naivety that is detrimental to Hitchens and Dawkins' causes by thinking people like that are legitimate. Fuck you.

  • @dabomb1357 LOL!! I didn't say HITCHENS was a straw man you stupid twat!. Go lookup what's meant by a straw man in an argument. Then come back for another intellectual ass kicking. I love people like you that parade their stupidity to the world, it gives me a sense of superiority .

  • Ha, after Hitchens eloquent response, you'll notice the question asker pompously trying to turn away and ignore the answer. These are the ignorant close minded people who plug their ears when someone speaks the truth.

  • My god. Look at the "mouth breather" sitting behind the man who asked the question.

Where the hell was this filmed? I know that Hitch took a non-traditional book tour (through my home area of the deep US South). I would love to know where he was here.

Not a room full of academics, I will venture a guess.

  • I found it funny that Hitch put out this 5 minute impromptu eloquent response after he had (in his words) "shot my belt" (0:12).

  • How to turn a religious meeting to an agnostic/atheistic one. Invite Hitch.

  • Dumbest question ever.

  • @mathematics64

I disagree. It was not particularly eloquently stated, but it was a worthwhile (albeit simple) one. It gave Hitch a straight-forward platform for articulating (in my opinion his most eloquent) explanation of his target ("mono-theistic messianic" cultures) and the goals of those culture--especially their "contempt of this world."

It should be required viewing for students of international relations.

  • Bravo!

  • Religious people tend to have trouble accepting that anyone could be truly happy, decent, and socially engaged without having a predefined spiritual impetus, e.g. to secure eternal reward or to escape eternal punishment.

It demonstrates the extent to which their innate faculties of reason and empathy have been seized by religious presumption. And the real beneficiaries are the greedy politicians of the world, both church and state.

  • you know you're wasting your time when your audience are wearing shorts :\

  • I have also noticed athiests really try hard to convince people there is no god. He points out the problems religion has created for mankind but forgets that these religions are flawed because they are run by humans. Humans make mistakes. We are not perfect. The fact that religion has caused horrible suffering "which I agree with" does not however disprove the existance of god. Religion does prove humans do stupid things but does not prove god does not exist. We are the ones to blame not god.

  • @onemansrage

And the fact that the guy at the local mall each Christmas isn't really Santa doesn't disprove his existence either. An inability to disprove something is a utterly pathetic excuse to believe in it.

That Christians say "we are imperfect", yet claim that our imperfect brains can understand something so utterly beyond comprehension as an omniscient being, and know its motivations to be benevolent is so utterly asinine that it genuinely warrants mockery.

  • @CrunchyMush I dont claim to understand the mysteries of the afterlife or our eternal god but I understand what your saying. Hitchens was brilliant in this aspect but failed to disprove gods existance. He was a master at pulling the wool over the crouds eyes without ever giving a direct answer. This was the only point I was trying to make. You could debate the other aspects forever but we honestly wont know till death takes us or jesus returns. I have my beliefs and you have yours.

  • @onemansrage

Can you disprove Santa Clauses existence? Would an inability to do so be an indication that he exists?

The only way a given thing can be disproved is to fully understand the limiting parameters of said thing. No fitcional "all-powerful" entity could be disproved as it would necessarily exist outside the framework with which we could disprove it.

Hitchens has never attempted to disprove the existence of god as it would be as utterly pointless as attempting to disprove leprechauns.

  • @onemansrage I would say that creationists try MUCH harder to prove that there is a god. After all, I don't ever recall hearing about atheists going door to door trying to get people to become atheists. I've never seen an atheist standing outside at a college campus screaming about how people need to become atheists or suffer eternal damnation. I sure as hell have seen a lot of Bible thumpers doing that shit though!

  • @JandBMan312 I admit you are right about most of that but I have seen a lot of athiest billboards denouncing christmass the last couple of years. Why do they feel the need to do this? If they dont believe why do they feel the need to tell others they should not believe either? Hitchens is brilliant but never did prove god doesnt exist. All he proved was his hatered of religion and what people do in the name of god which I admit is pretty sic but nonetheless never disproved god.

  • @onemansrage You can't disprove the existence of a god, but that doesn't make it true. I could claim that I had a vision and was visited by a god or gods who told me they were the creator of the universe and nobody could disprove me. However, if I'm going to make such a claim it is MY JOB to prove it, not the job of others to disprove it. Anybody could claim the existence of anything they made up and use the same excuse as religion saying it's invisible and therefor you can't disprove it.

  • @JandBMan312 You are right about all of this. It is also the choice of people to choose to believe in a certain religion or not. The point I was trying to make is that Hitchens did not disprove the existance of god but show the insanity & cruelty of humanity. People blame a lot of bad stuff on religion and rightfully so but we should not associate god with that religion because religion is a human manufactured institution. It is flawed to the core but that does not mean god is too.

  • @onemansrage The other thing is, even if creationism were true why would that make your religion right and the many other religions around the world wrong? Because that's what you were brought up to believe in? Sorry, but I just find it very pretentious of people to say that their religion is right and everyone else is wrong because it means that they are more special in the eyes of their god/gods than others because they were brought up to believe in the "right" religion.

  • @JandBMan312 Again I agree with most of that and again I say it is us who destroyed religion. I dont claim my religion is right and yours is wrong but just want the right to believe what I do in peace. Stupid humanity is the one who wages wars in the name of god, not god. Religion should be viewed as a flavor, whats your favorite? Choose it and enjoy it. Bad analogy I know but its late. We should all have the right to believe as we please without fear of death & war or persecution.

  • Just look at the body language...

  • The mouth breather sitting behind the guy who asked the question is PURE WIN! derp derp

  • So many stupid f-ckers think all Hitchens was, was an atheist arguing against the existence of God. PEOPLE! Stop "hearing" about him, watching clips and read one of his columns on Slate, read a magazine article, read one of his books that has nothing to do with God's existence. Most of his "God" stuff is more about how he rightfully hates Theocracy and the practice of religion and how religion negatively affects people and politics. Read him on Thomas Paine, Jefferson, George Orwell, Kissinger.
