  • Foggy Mountain HOEDOWN. LOL.

  • @pegcage.....Foggy Mountain ..HOEDOWN ? I agree, it's LOL !!!

  • I love the thumb sweep at 1:15. Josh Graves was fantastic. Even the other guys give him a 'yeah' and Josh just smiles.

    Awesome video.

  • Excellent Video of Flatt and Scruggs, Paul Warren, Jake Spurlock and Josh Graves, I love it

  • . . . check out my video's with Uncle Josh. I played a lot with him and Kenny Baker in 1988 in Germany. I was the bassplayer. Never forget ! ! !

  • haha foggy mountain "hoe down"

  • Josh was really fired-up !

  • Very cool video. I have never seen a color film of Flatt and Scruggs. Thnx for posting this!

  • I really like the style of Uncle Josh. He had a very bluesy feel. I know there are a lot of good "new school" pickers out there, but IMHO none of 'em can compare to the "old school" like Uncle Josh & Mike Auldridge as well. Both are legendary... Simply incredible playing. I have a live audio cd somewhere that has Josh playin' w/ Vassar Clements & Steve Young... no video on that one though.

  • @Cobia75 I'll have to agree with you there..Music isn't what it was years ago..Man these guys here could PLAY. It wasn't about how fast we can play or how many licks we can put in. It was about the music, the timing, the feel....It was REAL.

  • I'm still trying to get this song up to speed on the dobro. But it sure is FUN trying ! Josh was exceedingly talented. Great vid !

  • @CARROLLCTYDOBROGIRL

Once ya figure it ya have ta show me!

  • .... I agree. Josh's great bluesy style really put him over the top ! & no one can choke a dobro string as well as Josh could ! !

  • Thanks...it's crazy fun to play this song on the dobro.

  • Cool. Thats the WGN Barn Dance. I used to watch that on Saturday nights in the 1960's. The MC was Donald "Red" Blanchard. Lots of memories. It was a big deal when Flatt and Scruggs was on it. I remember Johnny Cash being on it one night too.

  • Ya'll must have missed the MC's intro in part 1.

    The Foggey Mountain Guys......

Earl corrects him as the band comes on stage.

So it's the foggey mountain hoedown by the foggy mountain guys.

  • Yeh... they do tear it up. I hope to be that good one day. Guess I'll just keep pickin' & practicin'.

  • @Cobia75 Just keep practicing pal! You'll get there someday....hopefully I will too!

  • Thanks for these great posts, Cobia75.

The boys really tear this one up, dont they? ( AWESOME ) !

  • Lester Flatt's guitar style has ALWAYS confused me. The way he frails and picks those runs between chord changes with such fluidity makes me gape every time. How does he do it??

  • Who is the MC who introduces them? Other than that fact that he screwed up the name of the tune he did a great pretty slick job.

  • Foggy Mountain Hoedown! Ha! Ha!

  • This & the other segment were taken from an episode of "Barn Dance" circa 1964.

  • What show is this from?

  • That was great. But where's Curly?

  • The foggy Mountain boys never come up on google under images.

  • Thanks for posting these! It broke my heart when they took down the Flinthill Special/Hey Hey Hey video.

  • You mean the one from Country Music on Broadway? It's back on several YouTube channels

  • Yeah I found it right after I posted this. Thanks a lot!

  • Foggy Mountain Hoedown???
