I am sure the lab techs loved those veins. They were nice and big. The lab techs cringe when they see me coming. They have to get the doctor now to come and use the ultrasound machine to find them and draw the blood for them.

I had about 11 taken recently. I got the giggles around vial 7 because the lady was so fast at reloading the vials and there were so many. Didn't feel odd until I got home though. And later that day I noticed I wasn't so good at climbing a hill. Not pleased with the way it's healing. I recommend to anyone that you take the time to just sit holding pressure on the arm while it's relaxed for 5 mins. Makes for a much better heal. I screwed up and used it right away to prep for an Electrocardiogram.

Don't know why they needed so many tubes---a lot of lab work: CBC panels, Lipids, Hepatic, etc can be taken from 2 tubes....

Not always, some tests require a full tube on their own. Depending on the test and what it was for. I had to draw 11 tubes from one person before, and that was AFTER we reduced the amount of tubes by split-off. It doesn't always work if the specified test requires one tube for itself.

She should have put a piece of tape over the butterfly wings cuz if it popped out of his arm it could have gotten ugly...

The needle will not 'pop' out of the arm! Tape is often only used for IV's (or blood donations) as they are in the arm for lengthy periods of time, but not for blood draw....plus had the blood flow slowed down, the tech would need to adjust the needle, the tape would be in the way and THEN it would be ugly.
