Dad was in the 522 Combat engineers in vietnam, which was supposedly abolished after WWII. The US secretly brought it up in vietnam as a unit attached to MACV.

BTW your title is kind of misleading. It is 579th combat engineers. Big difference. Engineers build. Combat Engineers DESTROY!
