@TheTangentUK: I'm totally with you man, I got the same history. I played this song numerous times, I was totally obsessed by it. Played it at 5am when I got out of the pub for two hours. This doesn't come any close to the fluent way of Mark's style and that is what makes it so difficult. Every time I pick up the guitar to play his music, it's a lesson for myself again... nobody can mimic him... because you are not him. Aside from the amount of your own talent. John.. please stop with this.

some one take that guitar off him. I have been playing dire straits songs for 23 years and i still can not get them identical to knopflers, i am better than this guy by far and he was in the band. people take knopfler for granted and some think he is just a good guitar player, what they don't realize is he is one of the best in the world, to get the songs to sound how he did is incredible hard, its one in a million that can do it,

I know one bloke on you tube who is German who playes just like knopfler, but he is the only one I have come across on her who is as good, having that nack to make guitar music flow and change the flow willy nilly and making it sound wright is a work of art, and you just have to listen to this dude to realize how good knopfler is, as daved lllsley is a good musician, but knopfler is an exceptional one. people don't say hes one of the best in the world for nothing, he puts others to shame
