  • But a bad habit of absolutely always have an issue with details in your appearance while you present the topic. Annoying.

  • You have great videos.

  • I have this brush and it´s really great for my liquid foundation, but I´m planning on buying mineralized skin finish natural and was wondering if I could use this brush for MSF also? or should I get a powder brush? love ur reviews by the way! ;)

  • @YouJustMight72 I would suggest a powder brush for the MSF natural- the 187 won't pick up enough product!

  • 42 dollars & 26 dollars is a 16 dollar difference ... you can get alot of things for 16 $ : macs hilighting cream, macs cleanser (for brushes) , an eyeshadow, an eyeliner !!!!!!! & much more ... id rather keep my 16 dollars , however i think im still gonna get the one buy mac , hey we only live once , minas welll ;DD

  • @sexymami793 did you get it from MAC?, if you didn't then it's probably a fake MAC brush(loads of the MAC brushes on eBay are fake) :)

  • that brush shedds alot!

  • Why does she keep saying she's going to put info in the side bar??? What side bar?? Doesn't she know youtube's info box is below the video????

  • @LizzySeale612 this video is from 2 years ago when the info was in the side bar- it was only changed to the downbar this year!

  • Great review, I've been considering getting this. BTW, pause at :42 - hahaha!

  • I've just recently found you on YT and i think you are amazing! personality is very refreshing and not like the others on here. just subbed u and hope to see more videos!!

  • I use the 187 brush to apply the M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and it works amazing for that. I really love it, thanks so much for the review!

  • I HATE that brush, I really wish I never have gotten it!!!

  • P.S@aleteoauricular. I personaly have had mac brushes since the 90's, when they were double digits not the 100-200-300 that they are now. I have never had a sheding problem with any accept one faker I bought off eBay by mistake wich makes me beleive that's what you bought

  • Hey nice vid! I have all three of the brushes, and of course the mac was better. But the coastal scents is a good runner up! Check out my video!!!!!!xoxo

  • You explain the difference in pricing for all three brushes but you don't discuss the diffrence in how well each brush works compared to eachother.

  • i don't get the hype with the MAC brushes. the 188 and the 187 leave small "hairs" on my face all the time. this never happened before with other brands and is very annoying.

  • Is the 188 and the 187 mac brushes good for liquid foundation? Because I have been looking to get these for a while now, but their are mixed responses on whether to use powder or liquid foundation with them. I mainly use liquid foundations, and really want to know if the brushes work well with them :) xx

  • @PinkFreeze133 I think it's about how much time you have. (as enkoremakeup said) if you're gonna stipple and swirl you may as well just get a buffer brush (which is much quicker) I have the elf studio "powder brush" (£3.50/$3.00!!!) which I love for both liquid and powders, though i LOVE the 187 when im not it a rush.

So in short i would say if you've got all the time in the world, the 188, a fair bit of time 187 and you're always in a rush a buffer brush. Hope i could help x

  • @LetsMakeUp21 okay, thankyou very much :) x

  • @PinkFreeze133 no problem sweetie, happy new year!! x

  • @LetsMakeUp21 happy new year :) x

  • @PinkFreeze133 I personally prefer them for blusha nd something like the sigma F80 for founadtiuon- it takes to long with the 187

  • you must do a review on 188 brush! love your reviews (:

  • @Beautyholicc it is really the same but used for smaller areas under eyes and for cream blush products!

  • Comment removed

  • could you do a review on the elf stipple brush?

  • @xGrisselG sorry I dont own that one

  • @xGrisselG I have the elf stippling brush, my only qualm with it is that it isn't stiff enough

  • @xGrisselG I own one and was extremely disappointed considering how the other elf brushes especially from the studio line are really good. I was trying to use it for foundation but it didn't work out too well because the brush is super flimsy and wasn't very dense. But I think it's okay for applying blush though.

  • would the 188 work for liquid foundation? x

  • @chrystynarr yes yes yes its amazingg!

  • I have the ulta one and there seems to be stray hairs like going off to the side... not that really effects the application but does that happen with all dual fiber brushes?

  • @seabrenn That does happen with the duo fiber ones form washing and they are not stong bristles- the only way to stop it is to use a brush guard!

  • do any of these brushes shed ?

  • @tinkedofferm all ofthe duo fiber brushes I have do shed!

  • @Lisasz09 oh okay because I have a costco brush that looks like these and it sheds while I am applying my makeup, I was wondering if the MAC one would shed while I am applying makeup ?

  • @tinkedofferm yes it will! :o(

  • Thanks for this video! I just purchased the 187 brush and was feeling remorse about the price & how much I'd be able to use it... but this convinced me to keep it!

  • just bought it !

its great for bronzer, powder, foundation and blush (:

  • Plz reply, 107 or 187 for foundation?

  • @romilimbu I am not sure what the 107 is? do you mean the 109? I dont use either- I prefer the Sigma F80 by far! I use it in my founadtion tutorial if you want to see it!

  • y isnt the ulta one good

  • @makeupisamber it is good but for the same money I would rather the MAC One!

  • @Lisasz09 ya but lie me im on a low budjet would that be the same

  • $42.00 = around £23...

    go on eBay.

i got mine for £6.50 including delivery.

    ohhh yeah.

  • @StaceyMitchellx Does the one from eBay shed? x

  • @Emz79X nope. the first time i used it it shed one hair and it hasnt shed since. its a genuine mac brush so nothing to worry about :) xxx

  • i just bought the 187 today! and i love it!

  • Can you buy the Costal Scents stippling brush in Canada? If you can, can your usually find it in local drugstores?

  • @Sayurichan16 They are actually online only- they dont sell in stores, but I think they do ship to Canada! :o)

  • @Lisasz09

    Thanks so much :D

  • If you could choose 1 would you choose 187 or 188?? xoxo

  • @SexyRedLipstick depends on what I would be using it for- for concealer and apples of my cheeks 188 for blush and foundation 187

  • you can hold the 187 bristles together and achieve the same effect that the 188 would give you for cheap...but i guess you could use the 188 for everyday in your purse

  • Love the Vid! Check out my Channel Sometime. I subbed..can you SUB? Thanks gorgeous!xoxoxox

  • great video. I was wondering if you had the sigma SS197. I am not sure if i should get the sigma SS197 or MAC 187.. if you do, which would you recomend more? Fore liquid founation? thanks~!

  • The SS197 by far! :o) It is my fav!

  • can we use mac 187 for foundation, powder n blusher all at the same time?

  • no you cant use it for a powder after a liquid, but you can use it for a liquid after a powder if you wipe it off!

  • My 187 brush keeps shedding when I apply my foundation, it can be quite annoying picking the little hairs of your face. Does this happen to you or anyone else?

  • yes mine sheds horribly also! O( bad side to the brush!

  • mine sheds too : (

  • mine sheds every time i use it I am worried it will go bald soon lol

  • hi, would you recommend using this 187 for studio tech foundation? thank you

  • yes definetly! :o)

  • One question if I may, how often do you wash your 187? I've heard you need to wash it after every single use? Really!? Be great if you could confirm this for us all, and wooooooootttt happy new year

  • I do a basic cleaning after every use and a deep cleaning around once a week or every other week- depending on how much I use them!

  • can i ask how you clean your brushes? As everytime i clean mine i find there not as nice to use afterwards.

  • I use the MAC brush cleaner on them after every time I use them and then I deep clean them once a week or every other week with baby shampoo! It keeps them in great shape!

  • Which is best? I know you said just go and head and get the MAC one but which is best because I don't know if you said that because it's MAC, or is it just a tiny bit better? Also could you say which is 1st,2nd, and 3rd in your opinion for applying liquid foundation thanks! :]

  • I like my MAC and Ulta abotu the same but I feel MAC has a better name behind the and more years making them. I dont use my for liquid founadtion anymore, so I am not sure these 2 are similar!

  • I get really intimidated looking at the MAC counters lol; but I have wanted this brush for the LONGEST time. Thank you for finally giving me that little push I needed, I think the next time I go to the mall I'll finally get the 187 :)

  • should i get both 187 & 188 or would that be useless? i use studio sculpt foundation

  • I think the 187 alone is fine for most people! You dont really need both! :o)

  • ok thank you i love the 187 when the lady used it on me at the mac store;]]

  • Would it be sensible to buy the 188 for liquid foundation (for the whole face)? Or is it better to buy the bigger 187?

  • I think the 187 is better for all over your face! :o)

  • what mac brush do you recommend for mineral foundation?

    please and thanks

  • I would say a 181 or a 182! :o)

  • oh my goodness..my 187SE shred like crazy :( the other ones are okay..my first Mac brushes

  • i bought the 187 as special edition...it seems smaller than the regular

  • All special editions have smaller handles, they are also lower quality than the full-size brushes because they're machine-made. I went in to buy the holiday brush bag that includes the 187SE, but compared to the full-size one, it has a noticeably "plastic" feel as compared to the full-size one which is super soft. I ended up just getting the full-size brush and very glad I did!

  • @KittysFeet thank you! i have been wondering this forever!

  • KittsFeet is correct they are machine made not hand made so they are different!

  • I bought the 187 brush at the mac store in macy's and I hate how much it sheds :-( The make-up artist told me to wash it with regular shampoo... Is that o.k?

  • yes I clean mine after every use with MAC brush cleaner on a paper towel, but then i wash it once a week with regular shampoo (baby shampoo works the best) and yes that brush does shed a lot! :o(

  • Hey, would you reccomend using this brush for MSF Natural? Thankx

  • i actually dont think it would give you very good coverage!

  • My friend uses a 187 brush to apply a liquid makeup. Her brush sheds hairs a lot, so much that she doesn't plan on buying anymore Mac brushes. She does not "stipple" however, she uses wiping motions to apply it (if it matters). What causes it to loose so many hairs?

    Thanks!

  • A few things about MAC brushes- they are hand made so they do tend to shed but that is because a machine is not putting them together! Plus when you dint stipple with the brush it has a tendency to pull out moire hairs because it is being used more harshly when it is wiped across the face. I hope this helps you! :o)

  • Thanks(:

  • you also need to take precaution when your r washing

that can influence also on the shedding

and how u use it it is also important

i always use conditoner on my brushes after the shampoo

  • i recommend your friend to stipple. it's so much better with these brushes.

  • i just bought it from m.a.c NOW IS THIS BRUSH FOR LIQUID FOUNDATION only?

  • it can be used for liquid foundation, cream blush, or powder blush for a lighter coverage! :o) Enjoy!

  • how do u keep th ewhite hairs so fluffy?on mine the hairs are all clumped even tho i wash it

  • I wash mine every time I use it with brish cleaner and then once every week with baby shampoo- I then let it dry on its side then when it is dry I wipe my hand back and forth lightly over it to fluff it back up! :o)

  • thanks so much!!il clean it every time i use it now!luv ur vids so informative!keep it up!xxx

  • you are so smart and sweettt! love ya!

  • I'm just going to use a stippling brush for my blush.Maybe foundation every once and a while would you suggest 188 or 187?

  • I still think the 187 is a better brush! :o)

  • which one do you think is a little bit better for foundation? 188?187?

  • 187 by far! The 188 is to small and would take forever!

  • i really want the 187 but its alot of money (( 4 me )) is it a good investment ??

  • Sigma has one as well that is great but it is over halfthe cost less! Enjoy!

  • thankK yew sooo much !!

  • Excellent review! Gotta go subscribe so I'll see you later. Smiles!

  • my 187 is not the way it's supost to be :( it's al packed to geather and it SHEDS LIKE CRAZY, but they won't take it back! im thinking about getting a new one from ebay or something!

  • That is a shame be careful ordering off ebay- you can get a fake! Good Luck! PS- mine sheds too!

  • is the mac or ulta one better? which one works better? is the ulta one less stiff and more floppy? i dont care about the price..

  • since the cost is so cloase I would say the MAC one! Enjoy!

  • Can you do a review of the 188 brush? Thxx <3

  • it is pretty much the same thing just a smaller version! :o)

  • do you perfer to use 188 or 187 to apply ur foundation?

  • I dont use them for foundation that often- I now prefer my Sephora 55 airbrush professional! :o)

  • I do think the 187 is better when I use it because it covers more area! The 188 is better for cream blush! :o)

  • Hey, does your brush ever lose its bristles? I have the one adoring carmine, and every time i use it i have some bristles left on my face

  • yes it doesn- unfortunetly when you use natural hair bristle brushes they do shed! :o(

  • I just got my 187 today and its sooo amazing! I love it, thanks for the review!

  • yay! I am so glad you got one and that you love it! :o)

  • where can I get the Costal Scents...beside ordering it online?

  • I believe it is only availible online! Sorry! :o(

  • loved this vid. but i still wonder, should i get the 190 brush or the 187 brush ? since they both kinda do foundations, but the 187 can do blushes also. which is best ?

  • I use my 109 way more than I ever used my 187! the 109 has so many uses too! :o) Enjoy whichever you get! :o)

  • Hi Lisa! Do you think that the 188 would be good for liquid concealer as it is smaller than the 187 and it can work in smaller areas? Also, did you find that the 187 gave you the airbrushed look that some of the other gurus on youtube talked about? I'm thinking about purchasing both of the brushes(: Thanks in advance!

  • I do like my 187 and it is nice but it is a lot of work to get the "airbrushed" look! I am sure the 188 would work for concealer but I have not tried it before! Sorry I wish I could tell you more! :o)

  • which do you prefer: the 187 or 188 for liquid foundation use?

  • The 187 by far- the 188 is way to small for me to use for foundation! :o)

  • If I got the the 187 brush do u reccomend still getting the 188. or is it not really neccesary.

  • if you have the 187 I dont think you need the 188 also! :o)

  • I didnt like this brush at first but then I figured out I used it wrong. What I do now is I apply a dot size to my forehead, my chin, and my cheeks and then I stipple and blend.

  • yay! I am glad you figured out a way that works best for you! :o)

  • I am late getting on the 187 bandwagon due to the fact that I looove my Beauty Blender sponge. I did a comparison test between the two and I still think my BB sponge has the edge.

However, I agree that the 187 is just terrific for blush and highlighters whether it be cream, powder or liquid. I still have to purchase the 188 although for the time being I've been converting the 187 to a 188 size using the Brush Guard after seeing Koren's video.

Do you happen to know a cheaper dupe of the 188?

  • I am glad you loved the 187 for things besides the foundation. I tried the Sonia Kashuk blending sponge because the beauty Blender was sold out- I didnt like it to much- before i buy the beauty blender do you think they are different? Thanks in advance!

  • I was actually going to request that you do a review of the SK sponge to the BB sponge! Lol, I have acutally tried both, and personally-I think that they work the same! I watched Makeupbytiffanyd's video on it, and she thought the same thing! :) The main difference is that the SK one is a tad more stiff and not as springy. But other than that I think they work the same! :)

  • I might skip the beauty blender than- I just dont thin i would use it! I love my brushes! :o) Thanks for the info!

  • are the bristles natural or part synthetic

  • The white bristles are synthetic! :o)

  • I love your brush reviews!

    Thanks:)

  • Thanks I am glad you enjoy them! :o)

  • get the sigma 187 brush its $16 and they have more dupe brushes that look exact matches

  • yeah I have heard great things about it! Enjoy! :o)

  • How do you keep your 187 so clean and white?? I wash it with a baby shampoo but that doesn't remove the color of the foundation from the brush!!!

  • I use MAC brush cleaner right after I am done using it then I clean it weekly with baby shampoo. It takes some scrubbing but it gets white again! :o) good luck!

  • Lol I travel with my cheap brushes as well! What if they get stolen, right?

  • that is exactlyy why I do that! :o)

  • When you are over 40, the 187 is indispensable as a foundation (as well as blush) brush! You are guaranteed a light, EVEN distribution of pigment. Aside from a good pair of eyeglasses, the 187 is to die for!

  • yay! I am glad you love it too! :o) I use it for both blush and founadtion! :o)

  • Good review. I love the 187. I'm placing an order now for some brushes. I want a concealer for my face and am tossed between studio sculpt (new is fun) and studio finish (everyone loves). And then there's the brush. Concealer brush? Foundation brush - probably better for my face. I want the 190 so bad but don't think I need it immediately. Such tough decisions, huh? I make it harder than it has to be!

  • wow- lots of decisions- Just fyi- I personally do not like the finish of the studio sculpt concealer it gets cakey fast! Good luck and enjoy all your new buys! :o)

  • Whew! I ordered the studio finish concealer. I figured there must be a reason so many people love it. And I got the foundation brush for now. I'll pick up the concealer brush and the HUGE face brush later. Gotta pace myself... (Plus I'm spending my honey's moneys and he doesn't know. LOL)

  • you did a bunch of fun stuff! Pace yourself and enjoy your purchases! :o)

  • heeey, thanks for this vid, i just got a cream blush from mac and diddnt no what brush to get, so thank you (: x

  • yay! I am glad it helped you out! :o)

  • gr8t review just got a GOSH stippling brush which is similar to the 187 and have the HK SE 188 and now use these for foundation and blush as application seems better x

  • yay! I am glad you got one! I hope you enjoy it! :o0

  • yeah it works a treat and thanks for all your reviews & products comparisons its great! esp when you do the hauls as well as MAC stuff comes out in the UK a month later :S xx

  • I am glad you found my reviews and hauls helpful! thanks for watching! :o)

  • Thanks for the review. Hey Lisa, why would do prefer the MAC one over the Ulta one? Also congrats on being made partner....I noticed the little thing in the corner.

  • The Ulta one sheds much more than the MAC One plus the bristles seem much more compact on the MAC one! :o) Thanks on the congrats also! :o)

  • Oh I hate brushes that shed. Thank you for the heads up. :)

  • Glad to help! :o)

  • great idea! :o) I am glad you like it too! Enjoy!

  • I luv my 187 especially for blush just like you said...its awesome and a great investment :)

  • yeah I am glad you love it too! :o)

  • is there any way you could show us the differences in density of the white bristles of the different brushes by pointing them towards the camera?

  • I will keep that in mind for future reviews, I can not do it for this one since it is already posted! :o)

  • Hey Lisa! You are so good at this! Thanks! Lisa

  • hey girl- I am glad you enjoy them! :o)

  • I have the pink one and i love it!

  • I am glad you like the pink one! :o)

  • Great review!

I reeealllyyy want the Mac brushes and makeup!!

But I'm only 12...so I only get paid $15.00 a week for chores...so I have to stick with drugstore!

    :D

  • That is ok- you will get there one day! Enjoy what you have! :o)

  • I love the 187. I use it for my msf's and really pigmented blushes like Nars Taj Mahal;)

  • great idea on the MSF's- I do use it on my blushes! :o)

  • Thanks for the review....could you by any chance please do a review of the Korres face primer, thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have not bought it yet, but I plan to , so I ill buy it and put it in a haul then try it for a while before i review it! :o)

  • I use this brush only for my bright or all of my blushes. I find it slightly difficult to stiple my foundation

  • great ideas! :o)

  • Thank you for this review!! It´s great!!
