esto es algo digno de respetar, grandes bailarines, hermosa rutina, tecnica increible. Felicitaciones, ya era tiempo de cambiaar las clasicas rutinas y acercarse un poco mas a lo que es salsa.
I actually think it´s easier to dance on demi pointe than on heels...It´s my experience.. I uses to practice on jazz shoes but when I go to heels, thats so more dificult...
I am from NYC and that is where the Salsa is KING! I was so amazed by the two guys dancing. I have to give props to the guys. And about the heel stuff crap...it's all about the execution!!!! I have been dancing Salsa since 1967 before any of you were born. It's about fabulousness and these guys DID IT!!!
In all fairness, I think the follower in the two-male partnership should have to wear 3 or more inch heels. It's not as fair when 95% of the salseras in the competition are pulling off those kind of technical tricks and spins in heels while he's doing it in flat shoes. It diminshes the level of difficulty. For competition only, it's only fair.
totally agree...his spins are of the hook but its a lot easier to do that without heels..anyone who doubts that, just take any ballet dancer who does 20 fouettes in a roll and ask to dance on heels...you´ll see a disaster...
I think that for competition purposes and in all fairness that the follower in the male couple should have to wear 3 inch heels to be fairly judged just as the majority of salseras who have to pull off those difficult spins, etc. in heeled shoes. It's hard to judge someone against another in flat shoes which don't pose as much technical difficulty and percision.
well! I am not gonna argue about the two guys. All I can say is that Luis and Shirley dont deserve that third place. I think Estaban conde deserves the third plac, but again that is only if you ask me. I respect everyones opinion but. Zonik & Shirley are not original they have lines and esecute fine but routines are not original. Those of you that know wont let me lie....This is what I think if you dont like well that is not my problem. LUIS PARA DE COPIAR!!!! TIENES QUE SER ORIGINAL!!!!!!!
wow, you seem to have been everywhere that night and keeping tabs on where everyone was... :) I actually happen to know, factually, that she wasn't close to the stage...but it's okay. She made it up there eventually. We can argue she should've been ready to get up there and that's a whooole different issue, but to claim anything that isn't true has no purpose. I really see no purpose in doing that... What is there to gain?
The first time ever an International won the Mayan. There's something such as "weight" of a routine's material in a competition that presented such a high level of dancing from so many competitors, and for that reason, even with the wardrobe accident that Liz and Cristian had to endure, they still placed 2nd and just a few points shy of first place. This is not to take anything away from Eli and Yen, but Cristian and Liz truly had more weight in their dancing. Great competition! Great fun!
No doubt the better couple won this evening. But where is Liz? Why didn't she come on stage with Cristian to receive her second place prize? At least not on this video. Can someone explain?
She was up there shortly after this video ended... Explanation: the mayan was super-crowded and if you weren't right by the stage when they announcements started, it was really hard to get close. She got up there. But why does that matter anyway?

Look closely..Eli is dancing on the balls of his feet the entire time without the assistance of supporting heels!

I already noticed that but it's still not the same as dancing in actual heels...sorry nice try but no comparison.
