@Intellect81 they are VERY good, the idle sounds nice but isn't so radical that your idle suffers, the motor makes 295 to the tire on a non-PI block, stock PI heads/intake, accufab TB/plenum, JLT intake and longtubes.
My first trip to the track on my DR's i broke the right axle launching at 4500 rpm. Upgrade time.
i own a stock 94 z28 and have researched people's experiences stating that any stock camaro z28 can beat any stock mustang can someone please tell me what mustang's to look out for that ARE STOCK that can beat A STOCK CAMARO if any.....please
The v6's u can beat but not the v8 GT's or cobra i got 96 mustang GT 4.6 v8 and i can beat z28 all day 3 of my buddy has them cars the one that has lt1 motor in it i dont know how or why but i do beat him by a bumper his is auto tho and mine is stick but yea mustang is faster its the driver too gotta know how to shift and drive right to win and mine is all stock but k&n filter and H pipe with no cat exhaust nothing else :)
Thanks Modularmisfit. Bitchin' car, and congratz. That's quite the trap for just a PI longblock with stag 1 cams, i had ported heads and st 1 VT's and only hit 105.5.
It's a 4.6, my 98 has custom 3" offroad x-pipe and flowmaster 40's dumped at the back tires and sounds very similar. You'll notice the cars that have exhaust dumped sound like the older cars.
That's a 4.6, my setup is the same as his,, same sound, same everything, great sound. I'll have to post vid so you can see it and believe it! I have a 98 GT, Don;t know what year he has, looks same so it might be 98 too!
It says in the title. VT (now cms) stage 1 N/A cams. But you'll need a similar exhuast for it to sound like that, it being that choppy with a stage 1 cam is rare.
good sounded 4.6L then just dont hear them like that to often, sounds like a 5.0L i have slp LM on my GT so its just loud..lol nice video. i stand corrected!
SLP LM are loud and raspy, so sorta are my magnapacks. That's what you get with a straight through muffler. Chambered mufflers make more of a deep note - especially at idle. His Flowmaster (or Mac, i forget) mufflers are dumped making his relatively small cam sound pretty choppy.
first off thae car in the video is not a 4.6L its a 5.0L with a hydralic cam, its very easy to tell the difference between a 5.0L and a 4.6L just from the exhaust tone!!
Exhaust tone is easily changed by muffler. This is a PI swapped 4.6, this guy posted this video of his own car in a PI swap thread. Look at the vertical tailights as well (although many 94/95's switch this out).
I don't blame you for hearing that. But it has VT cams, which are only made for modulars. And he posted it in a PI swap thread, which means modular as well.
Sounds great! Glad you like the cams. On a 5-speed car, my Stage 1's are good for ~20-25rwhp peak-to-peak. The Stg 2's are good for ~30-35rwhp peak-to-peak. The Stg 2's gained 55rwhp @ 6000 rpm on a stock 02 GT.
my 98 gt dynoes with pi swap, CAI, bullit throttle body, diablo tune, exhaust at 260 rwhp, which i think is pretty damn low... I have seen a guy here on youtube with a 96 gt pi swapped and exhaust dynoes 260 rwhp...

VT (now CMS) cams are good for about 15-17 more or less rwhp peak vs peak. But if you compare stock at 5900rpms and stage 1's are 5900 rpms it's more like a difference of 25-30rwhp.
this sounds great and i dont mean to be a pest but with fully built PI stage 2 heads( ported, valves ported and opened, larger stems, seats, springs, and stage 2 cams, i still didnt see 320rwhp. about 305-310rwhp is what im around. im hoping with an .020 bore and a fully forged stroker kit thatll push my 4.6 to a 5.1 to have about 355rwhp. so with the stage ones youll probably see about 290-300rwhp max. especially without lts. either way she sounds amazing. SN95 lovvvvve
notice i said 320hp, not rwhp. And with an auto (even my built one) that's like 258rwhp. So im being conservative, im thinking around 275 now that i have very mildly ported heads, beehive springs, and VT cams. Your car sounds like it's a beast, very nice!
Read the description, this isn't my car. This car is rio red, mine's laser red. Im hosting this vid to give an example of the set-up im in the middle of putting together. Good observation tho!
total im hoping around 320-325/350-360 torque at the crank + about 19% drivetrain loss. An increase of around 40-45hp and 35-40 tq to the ground from the NPI parts. But we'll see when i get a dyno sheet what the real results are.
I'm familiar with your car, but are you running long tubes? The 320-ish seems a bit high, I think but you should be around there. I'm thinking most 2 valve's I see usually get around 300 with a cam.
No LT's are basically the only bolt-on i dont have due to Cali laws. 325 at the crank through my auto would mean 263hp to the ground (keep in mind this is at 10.3:1 compression, higher than any 4.6 2V) - so with a tune this really shouldn't be too much outta my reach. But this is all speculation, i don't wanna get too caught up in guesstimating, im just trying to give an idea here. Thanks tho!
Just bought this car. Yes it is as fun as you imagine.

@jh1keener - how is the driveability and performance of these cams? Just curious....thanks!

That is a 331 Stroker. with a TFS stage 2 cam. That isn't a 4.6 based motor.

I can garuantee you this is NOT a 4.6...on top of the exhaust note and the way the car comes off of the higher RPM rev. Definitely a 5.0 based motor.

Nothing like the sound of a big cam exhausted by flowmasters! What stall are you running?

I am running a 3200 10" stall. That car i believe is a manual tho.

what do you dyno about 250-60 rwhp?

Through a manual this set up is good for 265-285 depending on heads and springs.

yeah they are Stage I's. I thought the same thing, but i think it's just the muffler - or it's not tuned yet.
