what do I do when a finger on the fret of one string is touching another string in the cord? The note doesn't even play, it just sounds bad. is there a technique to it?

@preppymint33 the bottom string (also the skinniest and highest sounding) is an E note. This is also known as the 1st string. The 2nd string up (a little bit thicker and lower sounding) is a B note. The 3rd string up is a G note, 4th is a D, 5th is an A, and the 6th string (thickest, lowest sounding, and closest to your body) is also an E note.

im 13 and ive had my guitar for a year now and it seems like all i know is E F G and now i got guitar for dummies for christmas lol and its helping me learn chords faster than i imagined its been two nights and i already can play 4 chords consistently :)

@TKTMASTA609 thats great. keep up the great work! ive been playing since i was in 3rd grade. i tought my self how to play. and now im getting lessons and when you have an idea..it realy helps you out. i started at 9..im 15 now kid dont give him!:). keep stronge with it . i hate seeing ppl give up on something they love.
