Creativity can come from anything, the biggest surge of inspiration I've had yet is from looking at Stefan Sagmeisters work, that gave me so many ideas to incorporate into different projects and what I think is most important think outside the box and dont be afraid to take risks, its all a learning process.

I think that some equipment is necessary, esp. for creativity. Look at how much gear you used. You might think "everybody has this gear nowadays", but that's not true.

Also... creativity depends on adequate equipment and the skills to use it. Imagination is unbounded, but imagination without creativity is just daydreaming.

Also, there's something to be said for brainstorming on paper rather than in the mind. Look up "extended cognition" for research into this subject, it's interesting stuff.
