anyone who remembers this knows what the folks of Huntington went though. I was young but i can remember it to this day. Any so called WVU fan who trashes this in any way is an abomination to our state. the 70's were terrible, then in the 80's they got that glimmer of hope and Jim Donnan took em over the top. I'm a WVU fan but a Putnam Co. boy so Fairfield & JFE field was only 20 minutes away compared to 3 hrs. Been to many Herd games, Love the herd all the time but for one week a year.
(3of4)To me We Are Marshall was the same type of thing, a person or people rising up from despair and pain. This movie shows what the human spirit is capable of doing and how far people are willing to go to get back something that was so important to them. I like all the actors too, good job and I have the movie on DVD and can watch it anytime I want.
(2of4)o is to recover from the loss of someone we love. Not being able to see them and talk to them is the hardest thing but they are still with us in our hearts. I've not seen a movie and been as inspired as I was by it since the first time back in the mid 1990's when I first saw Forest Gump.
(1of4)Growing old is a privilege not everyone gets to experience. I don't know why bright young and promising people like the ones in the crash are taken so early. None of us are promised and certain amount of time on this earth. The hardest thing God asks us to do
uhhuh i looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove this movie in 1970 my mom was just 9 when this happend when i posted this comment i was watching the movie "we are marshall" THIS IS IN MEMORY OF CAMERON BISHOP 08
The bottom line is that "the Lord giveth and He taketh away... blessed be the name of the Lord"! We don't understand why these things happen and the more birthdays I have the more that I believe that maybe we're not supposed to understand all of the why's. My heart aches for each person who lost a loved one or friend on this fateful day, and to the 75 who died on November 14, 1970 and to Nate Ruffin and the others gone on since that time... we'll meet again.
I hope that anyone who trys to put a "football rivalry" spin on this movie and this tragedy will come to understand that 75 real people, with real lives, real families and that had real people who loved them, lost their earthly lives on this day, and anyone who would anonymously make light of this has no heart, no guts and is lower than a snake's belly. I'd bet all I own that you wouldn't do such and post your real name and phone number here for all to see.
Can anyone tell me when the phrase "We are Marshall" started being used? I was 14 yrs old then but I remember the horrible incident. I don't recall that phrase being used until years later. Very good movie I might add.
thats why wvu fans are the worst in the country; they are assholes to whoever come to morgantown(the armpit of wv); and pretty every cheer every team does is copied or a diff variation af another; grow up; but being a wvu fan you prob wont
dont get it twisted, it says that we lost players and coaches, it was players, coaches, friends, and family, one of my friends lost his parents on the flight...
We are all Marshall and have been since this. The years have not changed our feelings. We will take this to our graves. This from an old and former NCSU student who will never forget the loss or the sadness. I often think of this and realize that they are in the place that I want to be someday.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
yay negative history... the chant "we are marshall" was copied from penn state... and WVU's "lets go mountaineers" marshall has to have everything WVU does, at the "friends of coal bowl" the fans were happy because they were making a movie about them, even though the team died.... LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
You are obviously an idiot for not even remotely comprehending the pain felt by the families of the victims, the community and the entire state. I'm also sure you are NOT representative of most WVU fans
who support their University in good spirit. Unfortunately, I don't expect you to understand the point I'm trying to make. You're a disappointment to the good people of this state.
i think the 'coal bowl' fans were happy because their people were being remembered and the sgnificace of their loss was being recognised, not because they were going to be famous from the movie.
