Looking for some kind of music that is mechanical, as in it sounds like gears and mechanical parts moving. I heard it once but can't remember where. I thought I heard it again in Terminator Salvation, but the low vibrating hum turned out to be the sound made by the huge terminators. Any help?
Does anyone know the name of that first song played at the very begining of this video? I love that song and want to hear the entire thing. Thanks DAH.
@mechanicsnut A very good question! The tune at the beginning of this chapter is "Alexander's Ragtime Band" by Irving Berlin. The tune is available from many different performers and is really a classic.
NEAT?!? They have a Hupfeld Excelsior PAn and a Popper Goliath. That's incredible rare stuff! You wouldn't find this in Europe, after my information. So tell my,which state you are from, maybe i can find a museum.;) regards from europe, chris.

Ugh. whats wrong with these people?! almost every single speaker has some bizarre, annoying and/or utterly hard to endure form of vocal inflection, wacko accent or whatever you call it. sheesh.
I'm a recent MBSI member. How wonderful to view these machines up close and personal. Being a new member, I was astounded how friendly and welcoming this Society is. I would highly recommend joining this wonderful group.
An excellent video showing the how similar the mechanical music mechanisms are to modern day technology. And the best way to see these marvellous instruments is at chapter meetings of the Musical Box Society Interntional (MBSI). We have made many friends through MBSI and seen wondeful pieces of musical craftsmanship. A great organization.

@ampicoab Thanks so much, I love ragtime and Scott Jopin and the others. Is there any way I could hear the entire song on that instrument online?

Just to pick a small nit ;-)
The "program" is in the hardware of the instrument. The cylinder, disk, roll etc. is the "data" that the "program" uses.
