Hi i made a level just like this (castle) but when mario/luigi go's to the level it does the little thing where mario lloks at the caslte then it goes COMPLETELY black! :( can you help me?
hi i got super mario nintendo and this game u r playing i didn't play this castle....i don't know i have this castle on the type or not, or ur game video is different....i don't know, would u tell me about the castle ur playing?
In order to fix all of those sprite glitches, enable sprite buoyancy and disable sprite interaction with layer 2 to allow more sprites to be allowed on the screen. It might slow down a little, though.
For castle spikes, go to Tileset Specific Objects with the castle FG/BG. For Ghost House, same but with Ghost House FG/BG. Anywhere else, you can't, unless you edit the Black Plant GFX.
Try not to make it so that you have to immediately move at the start. Also, make sure every area is passable with small Mario. Uh, besides that, cool! Sometimes, I like challenging levels. This seems more moderate for a farther-in-the-game level. Yeah, I had fun with editing the first time I made a level.
There is a website you access from Nerologic. I cant remember which one it is but everytime you try to download the rom from that site it is ESA protected. There are tons of other sites out there. Just keep plugging away at the search engines and you WILL find one.
To help prevent sprites from disappearing, try changing the spreite header to 0E. That header gives you plenty of space to have lots of sprites onscreen-and it should-because it was originally used in boss levels, where the bosses guzzled tons of data space.
Well aware of it dude. I even said in the description that I may have put a few too many sprites in this stage, and ppl above have already said that too. A few times actually. Thanks, anyway.
nice and hard but there are some things that are stupid:too many thwomps to many spikes too many fire balls and finaly to many sprites!when there are to many sprites the level looks glitched!
The hacking program is called Lunar Magic, the emulator is called ZSNES and you can find a ROM of this (or any game really) at various sites that distribute them.
I'll definitely give you the hack once I have refined all the levels to a point I feel satisfied with. Like with this one, with the max amount of sprites set at 84, I'll try to cut them down. Maybe get rid of some Podoboos and those 6 spikes at the end. I have to twirk my next castle a bit too. I have a section where you run through a corridor with 18 Thwomps waiting for you.
Wow! Cool Castle! As the other guy said, there are too many sprites, which is a problem i face frequently. I wish there were a way to increase the sprite limit, cuz it ALWAYS gets in the way of my creations! Anyway, This castle was quite interesting, and very fun to watch. I look forward to playing your hack in the future (if you let me, that is.)
I wonder if you can effectively increase the amount of sprites without glitch.
The only real "must get hurt to pass" area is the vertical spike shaft near the end. I think I made it too narrow. I've only ever got through it once without getting hurt. The point of the level was to be ultra difficult and some of the people I have given the ROM to were able to beat Glen's Island within 30 minutes. Since I made the level challenging, I think it was only fair I be generous with the item boxes.
A few things. One, you have too many sprites in some areas at once. This causes parts of the sprites to disappear, including the Dry Bones' body, 1/4 of the fireball, and part of the long spike.
Two, get rid of the "must get hurt to pass" parts. No one appreciates these kind of obstacles, and are just annoying. Also, get rid of the areas that are only passable with a powerup.... this is annoying as well.
Three, get rid of the many item boxes, it ruins the challenge.
more difficult than demo world? watch your tungue, man! did you ever play demo world reloaded to 100%? without stating and loading the final levels are hardly doable.
I think you should of added a Boss fight, you know, they are fun and are fairly common for Castle levels.

I think its strange how you added a goal line - I was expecting a boss or somthing. You did a very good job and you put alot of effort.

I thought it was kind of funny that after all that there's just a goal at the end; it's kind of anti-climactic.

I wouldn't say the difficulty is astronomical...but it looks extremely fun nonetheless.

this isnt in the game, this is something called a ROM hack where a pc version of the game has been edited.

Yes you can, click on the jumping note block at the top of lunar magic and use the dropdown bar to select the 'ghost house' music.
