It is the Split Rectangle #2 logo, but with Lalo Schifrin's music. The version of the jingle used in 1974-1975 (with the exception of most episodes of Mannix) is slower than the 1972 version of the music.
It was cut off when I tried to tape it and it was on too late to tape the purple one. and later was cut off when I finally got a vcr. There was a station with bad recetion before it went to Nick At Night. Now I have converter box, but now the logos are plastered.
Thank you for posting this. Too bad you do not have the closing logo. You probably only have the one Viacom one from the 90's anyway which I would not want to see. There is one I saw with a red back round too which came after the first eps of the season.
Are you talking about the Paramount Television logo from 1969 when you said the "red background"? Because I know that Paramount TV used that background, and in case you didn't know, they were the original producers of the series.
I saw it on a season 5 ep, but I forgot which one it was. I know was not the first 4 of the season. I saw one with was had an orange back round with the 1972 jingle which could have been from season 4. I even had the jingle on tape. Too bad I did not get it on video though.

Most episodes had red back round and i really meant a purple one. Some others had not seen it though.

Well, I haven't seen a Paramount Television logo with a purple background. Probabally seen on later episodes, perhaps....

If you're talking about the orange background, then you must be talking about the 1968 logo, correct?
