Those who have gone ahead of us have paved the way and inspired us to make a difference. Many were worn down but others stepped up. Be blessed for the equality of all mankind and keep on stepping up!
Wonderful, and understandly difficult for some to grasp, or handle. It might be too black & too blue! But it is what it is! The Blues and abstract truth... Nya-I
I'm a big fan of Bessie & Billie, not as familiar with Ruth so I really enjoyed this. I also really enjoy bass players; so BlueStar118, why wasn't the bass player mentioned in the credit blurb? He's mentioned in the film credits, but not in your YouTube caption that mentions J'ai, Renee & Mary Jo and even the film co.
And that's how it was. So glad she kept it real! This was the South! Bessie Smith & Billie were both Bi sexual women, they were very different for their time, and were not afraid of whites!
It was an example to show how Billie changed/influenced what artists chose to sing about and how they could use their voice on a song with a powerful, moral statement. So Baby J'ai sang an exerpt to show what the song was about and to exemplify the character and person that Billie was. And how is it disrespectful?! ...Billie claimed she wrote the song when she didn't...that's disrespectful.
Who is this singing person?

Now, Strange Fruit is not a song you just jot into a medley like this... It's disrespectful.
