  • what are they singing?

  • @macgeek21 They are not singing they are chanting dude?!?!?!?!!?!?!

  • @macgeek21

Well...i suppose you could say they are singing. Chanting would be closer to the meaning of it though. They are singing a chant to praise Holy mother of

    Christ.

  • guys greek orthodoxia is the only way to heaven. i believe that. this kind of religion is the only which touch my soul so deeply.

  • Try the Tridentine Latin Mass. It is as old if not older than the Byzantine Mass.

    Gregorian Chant accompanies it.

  • "Lord may my devotion be understood!"

  • (How can my follow Christians ask me to rebuke; my vows and Gnostic faith that lead to back to them?)

  • Comment removed

  • My mother's house is only a few blocks from a Greek orthodox church. As a child I was too frustrated to take to time to understand the different between the eastern and western orthodox beliefs. (The Greek Byzantine heals my aspects of my soul!) my faith was reward by our lord Jesus Chirst.. But it left me neither a christian nor a buddist but something in between.

  • I love the Greek orthodox; but how can they claim. They are the only way to Christ? The Gnostic/ hermetic Christians also date back to that time. (I feel like a lost visionary without a church.)

  • @1awareness well the gnostics used to claim that you needed to know certain "secrets" to reach salvation and only certain people who knew these "secrets" could they saved. Something that goes against Christ's teaching to teach the gospel to all nations and baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Also they used books (before the bible was put together) that were not written by an Apostle or an Apostles disciple. They were considered a Heresy by the Catholic Church

  • @1awareness Also their understanding of Christianity was very inconsistent. Their theology could be different from gnostics of other places. Well hope that helps btw im not an orthodox trying to convert you. I simply glanced at your message and thought i could be of some help. Well God bless you.

  • @1awareness Just contact nears episcop centre on you Country or City. And God blees you.

  • God bless all Orthodox Christians. From CYPRUS..

  • God bless all my Orthodox brothers! Greetings from a Catholic brother from Canada.

  • im not orthodox, but i really love othodox chants.

    god bless Greece.

  • I am born in an Orthodox Christian family too..But I learned that am a CHRISTIAN first as Jesus Christ never told to become an Orthodox or Catholic, But to follow Him as a CHRISTIAN!!!!!!So my fellow Christians, whether you are Orthodox or Carholic why we want these factions amoung christians as long as all these churches were formed with one base book -BIBLE..Bible only teach us to be a CHRISTIAN...May God bless you and reveal the truth of Him to you all!!!!

  • @Georgebrhm1984 I don't think my brother, I just obey the teachings of my holy Fathers. His unworthy and wicked servant. Constantine

  • @Constantinepray4me Bro, dont you think as Christians, we need to obey teachings of Bible rather than anything??And Bible says only to follow Christ and only through Him that we can reach God!!!!!!!

  • @Constantinepray4me Greetings, dear Brother in the Lord, in part you are right but to get the whole faith we need to encompass the following: Sources of Christian Doctrine Revelation Tradition Bible The Liturgy The Councils The Fathers The Saints Canons Church Art Without these it is easy to go astray. Look at what happened to Hitler, the Christian as well as others...
  • @Georgebrhm1984 - So long as the teachings and doctrine follows 'unbroken' and in constant communion with our Patriarchs which can be traced back to when Christ set up His Church. See 'Old English Church' web site for more details and missing scriptures...

  • I am catholic but thanks!

I knew you would find me, but so you know, i've made a perfect path to lead you straight into my marvelous trap.. IN TO THE ALLIGATOR PIT! (beep!)

    "MWAHAHAHAhahaha.. . ! "

  • @MefilioDeAggelo Stewie? family guy??

  • wrong outside the bible christ is mention by josiphus a jewish roman stoog who was writting about history at the time for the the roman government mentions not only jesus christ but john the baptist, he also mentions christs death on the cross. at least to roman historians mentions christ death at the cross and his preaching in the 1 and 2 centuries so tommy2tonish your wrong.

  • I'm an atheist and I enjoy this. Greek/Latin chants are quite beautiful especially when the room echoes.

  • @StudentiaLatini when you need help..what are you doing?you atheist?

  • Comment removed

  • @StudentiaLatini keep it at that, dont let anyone try to tell you anything and make you stop listening to it.

  • I am atheist, but I love this.

  • Christianity will become just another myth one day

  • @Manolara84 why? we are the biggest religious group (christians)...

  • @Manolara84 How could Christianity be a myth? There are a number of historical witnesses outside of the apostles who report Jesus and the early Christians...learn your heritage brother, don't get carried away by your own opinions and the opinions of the proud, they trust too much in their own experience of maybe 40 serious years at most, the Church has 2,000 years of experience

  • @tommy2toneish yeah and there is no record of Christ outside the bible, plus much about Jesus was taken from other religions e.g. Persian, Celtic, etc and if you need more proof look at the similarities between Jesus and Mithras, you believe in a highly unoriginal religion. plus your argument about the age of the church is invalid, Judaism has been around much longer than Christianity, so does that make them the right religion just because they have more experience?

  • @MrJoviun Christianity is a continuation to Judaism. Jesus was a figuire that miffed a lot of people off and is mentioned in texts.

  • @jdi0093113 yes but if you look at the different aspects of both religions, they couldn't be more different, they are separate religions, while its origins are rooted in Judaism its tenants are completely different

  • @MrJoviun wrong tommy outside of the bible christ is mention several times the first bieng josiphus a jewish, roman stoog who was writting about history at that time for the roman government he was also part of the first jewish rebelian againts the romans, josiphus mentions christs and john the baptist he talks about jesus dying on the cross and his preaching, at least 2 roman historians mention christ by name about his preachings in the desert and his death at the cross in the 1 and 2 century

  • @jaquino451 The authenticity of Josephus' notes on Jesus is highly questionable, and it's believed that his notes on Jesus were added later by Christians copying the notes so sorry that doesn't cut it, as for the Roman scholars they were in the 1st and 2nd centuries after Jesus' death which means they prove nothing. Many books nowadays reference Jesus but that doesn't make him more believable.

  • @Manolara84 what are you saying?there will be a day that all humanity will know that christianity is the true religion...

  • God bless all of you!

  • Orthodox hymns and chanting are so beautiful. Along with the peaceful, mystical and reverent atmosphere of an Orthodox church with its icons, etc. this is music from the soul that helps to connect us with God as they are singing his praises.

  • what are purity rings exactly?

  • @rocoreb Apparently a purity ring is a ring with an engraving or something denoting that a person will remain pure until marriage. While the Orthodox church would not object to such a thing, it is not endemic to the Orthodox church. It is expected through Christian beliefs that one will save themselves for marriage. This is a Western thing and not part of Greek culture either.

  • god bless from kuwait :)

  • i have a question:

where can i find this kind of music and download it for my ipod?

VIVA la MAkedonia 4 all MAKEDONS

Mkedonia is a Greek name (from the ancient Greek Makednos) all the ancient Historians describe Macedonia as a Greek territory so it's useless to for u to make those statements without any Historic evidence....

  • @OrShamayo: The Trinity is the belief that there is one God who has revealed Himself within three distinct persons. That being, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Christianity is literally predicated upon this monotheistic foundation. A foundation which is Biblically supported throughout both the Old and New Testament. For God is spoken of both in the plurality and described as a plurality. Such is the nature of Orthodoxy. I beg that you accept Christ my Muslim brother.

  • God Bless all of my orthodox brothers and sisters! This from a Roman (Latin) brother. The Church would be at her best if she breathed with both lungs, east and west!

  • @Bronxbhoy07

I am a devout Greek Orthodox who is passionately grateful for the Catholic education I received. Long live our two churches, secure in the comfort of the Eucharist.

  • i need to ask a question that it seems like no one can answer. Do greek orthodox churches believe in purity rings? please respond

  • @Bffs32 i don't see why they wouldn't

  • @619ThatsMyNumba is that important?

  • @Bffs32 Yes, many do. The church has not sponsored them officially, but many Greek Orthodox faithful do engage in this practice.

  • @Bffs32

    No they don't.

If you make a commitment you must prove that you have the willpower to fulfill it. Using an object to replace your willpower is futile and suggests weakness.

  • @Bffs32

well im greek orthodox and it isnt really practised, but i guess staying pure is one of god's commandments

  • @Bffs32 - What exactly do you mean "believe in purity rings"? The Orthodox church certainly teaches pre-marital chastity, but hasn't actively supported any "True Love Waits" evangelical-style campaign. On one hand, I think the Church could do more to actively discuss this issues with young people....on the other, I'm grateful we've avoided such phenomenona as "purity rings" which I personally find a bit odd and creepy.

  • @Bffs32

Purity rings is an native USA thing, and probably has no connections to Orthodox christian religion, and i thnik that they even havent heard about such thing. And what about to "believe". It is kind of superstition i my opinion.

  • @Bffs32 There is no reason why the Orthodox church would object to such a ring, but it is not part of the church's tradition. It is expected that people will save themselves for marriage as part of Christian beliefs and no jewelry is required to profess that commitment.

  • @Bffs32 there is no such thing as a purity ring in the GO(and all Eastern Orthodox) church. If anything I think it is against all that the church represents. All children of God are equal and such a thing would be like showing off. A person of pure heart and true faith does not need to show off, he/she is humble before God. Other than the different attire of the priest, no other discrimination with regards to clothes/jewellery is made in the church.

  • @Bffs32

Why would you need one with your Baptism Cross around your neck?

How much more of a reminder do you need?

  • @Bffs32 No.

  • @Bffs32 Seeker about the purity rings. Purity rings is a 20th Century idea started by Promise Keepers in 1990 while the Greek Orthodox church dates back to the 1st Century Church. I don't think the orthodox church would object to keeping "it in your pants" until marriage because this is scriptural but wearing a gold ring on your finger to symbolize an outward adornment to abstain from sex isn't found in scripture. -Justice "Emperor" Constantine

  • @Bffs32 I've never seen or heard of one being used

  • @Bffs32 I don't think we do

  • @Bffs32 No because there is no need of such a thing within the Greek Orthodox church, instead we teach our children from a young age that sex before marriage is a great sin.

  • @Bffs32 It's not really an issue, I can't see why it would be. In fact, I would say it is a very good thing; you are abstaining and making a promise to remain pure, and that is good. Granted, it's not traditional per se, but it doesn't go against the teachings of the Church. Blessings.

  • @Bffs32 Brother, If Greek Orthodox Christians consider themselves as Christians, then they are not supposed to believe in such stuffs..As a Christian one's motive and belief should be in Christ as God's only begotten son, and should be Christ Centric...

  • @Bffs32

They sure do, in the sense of devotion - premarital rings. The important thing is meeting her father, expressing your intentions and getting approval. The ring then declares that you are in the possess of making arrangements for your marriage.

  • @Bffs32

I totally misunderstood the purpose of the purity rings, my previous response is irrelevant. To answer your question, when I got married, the priest asked both me and my wife if we had premarital sexual relations, we both said no, and the three of us knew we were lying. They cherish purity, yet at the same time they cherish reality, and ever since divorce was invented the reality is you need to f..k your brains out for a couple of years in order to decide if you can last a lifetime.

  • @Bffs32 what is that?

  • Beautiful.... (Welcome to neuronaluniverse).

I am a Greek Orthodox Christian with a Roman Catholic education, the latter which I cherish and would never have traded. I pray that our churches stand together to face the battle that lies ahead.

  • Greetings from Bethlehem

  • Hail my brother in the Lord Jesus Christ from the faraway America God is well you and the Familia YOU GREECE

  • if Serapis Christus is "The One", then the monks and priest's should aknowledge it. no more hiding what Ptolomy 1st did in Alexandria. but its not a negative thing. Serapis Christus represents good and decency. Serapis Christus must be in holy text from now on!

  • anyways, God, is a supreme advanced, human, above humans, above man, above angels, above the universe, the one who created the universe, LOVE is not taught in some churches, and it should be exposed, and it should die, so the truth can be seen, how many wars and deaths are caused becuase of fucking religious hatred and prejudice???????? i'm sick of it, but it isn't the "chruches fault, it is MEN's fault, people don't hate church because some asshole fucked it up, go, because we all

  • @frankenboston live in a glass house, that is about to be smashed by the truth, very soon,, and Love will win. Love wins, Love rules..... death to ignorant hateful movements everywhere,, you lose.. you suck.

Thank you. May God bless you.

  • @Cano0w: I cry that you come into reconciliation with Christ. As He stated within John 10:30-33, "I and My Father are one." I cry and mourn spiritually for you my brother. For, even He as Risen; verily, Risen is He our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, so that you may be risen to take up His word in reconciliation with I, your brother. I pray that you accept Christ, for as He stated in John 14:6-11, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

  • I am not orthodox but I have wonderful friends in your Church and I salute all of you, here. Great Chant, really, moving and sweet. Be blessed the Orthodox Church! And thank you very much for posting.

  • @Noush1975 your very welcome :)

  • These are not Greek orthodox chants, these are orthodox chants in Greek. Orthodoxy is not Greek or Serbian or Russian or Romanian. It is of all orthodox.

  • @Patriotis1 orthodox is hellenic,it's roots are from byzantine empire!that's a Hellenic orthodox chant! In 1054 west church(italian) and east church(byzantine-hellenic) where divided in two parts, for various reasons!that chant you are hearing is in hellenic language!serbians, russians, romanians, bulgarians and many other countries were converted into Christianity by hellenic people!

  • @B1LLVANILYBOY

You don't seem to get it,do you.I'm half Greek half Serbian and I've been always offended by the adjective before the noun''orthodox''. If you want-Greeks had the first ever patriarch who changed the old calendar, and was mason,too-Melentios Metaksakis. You point out your nationalism, not your love towards the God. Orthodoxy isn't Greek,it is of everyone that wants to serve the God. And also,as a Greek,I can say that I preffer being in Romania or Serbia in liturgy than in Greece.

  • @Patriotis1 Of course and i am more of a nationalist than a Christian!I love my country! And I AM GREEK and i am supposed to be racist!!!!Racism was born in ancient greece!I just don't like foreigners in my country, that's all!I have no probs with other races or behave like a narrow-minded child or behave and think always with stereotypes!Religion in some cases is poison!

  • @Patriotis1 Why is that u trecherous litle thing??

  • @Jeffanos

Why is what? Be more precise...

  • @Patriotis1 Why do u prefer Romanian and Serbian Orthodox Christians and not the original Greek Orthodox Christians??

  • @Jeffanos

Because they don't care about nationality, but only about orthodox faith, and because in their churches in liturgy you don't sit,but stand, because they haven't changed the calendar and they are not close to pope,as Greeks.I feel the best in churches in Russia. And Greek is not original, there is no original or fake, there is one faith.

Δεν πιστευω να λες οτι ειμαστε οριγιναλ,που γεννηθηκες εσυ,ρε φιλε,στο Παραδεισσο,οπως Αδαμ? Δε βλεπεις τι κανανε απο την εκκλησια μας?

  • @B1LLVANILYBOY

You think God cares about your nationality? Like,he will save you if you are Greek and he won't if you're Russian?! Instead of praising our history read any of our Holy Fathers' books.

  • @Patriotis1 Christian-boy watch out more, don't read so many fake books and serve your country with honor! If not there will be nothing left of our memory!God will never save othe countries,HIS god-blessed country and chosen one is Israel!

  • @B1LLVANILYBOY

Yes,you're one very''orthodox''man. Read about Melentios and how he was burried, with his masonic clothes. But,I won't judge him, someone other will. I don't love other nations in our countries either, but while you and I write here,on youtube, some Arabs from Middle East,in Athens and Belgrade make children and they are getting more and more. And they do it to flood us,to erase our orthodox name and our faith. Our people are weak in faith, that is why we'll disappear soon.

  • @Patriotis1 Do you speak greek friend?Mind if i'll add you?

  • @B1LLVANILYBOY

    Yes, I do.Add me.

  • @Patriotis1 okay semantics....

  • is this greek they are chanting? sounds to me like arabic or some eastern language like it. beautiful anyway.

  • @ahioud greek or hellenic if you don't mind(when you say someone greek is insulting for us)

  • @ahioud its greek :)

  • God bless you all. Kosovo is serbian and orthodox land, and it will be for always. Peace with you brothers.

  • @orthodoxboy1 Just passing by and couldn't resist replying to your comment. A land has no religion. A land is just a land. Humans should stop dividing themselves into this religion or that. It's fascinating what religions have done in the fields of the music and architecture, yet are always behind war and bloodshed.

  • @orthodoxboy1 god bless

  • Greeting from Egypt to our great Ortodox church, poli oraia
