  • I'm a 15 year old girl that is a raw vegan foodist. I eat mostly fruit and have a body fat percent of 12 and am at a healthy weight. :DD I feel better now then when i was just a vegan (of seven months) or a vegetarian (three years). Micheal has really motivated me these past two weeks of becoming a raw foodist with a 80-10-10 or a 90-5-5 diet, and I feel amazing!

  • Michael Arnstein is full of @#$@#$ with the wholesaler thing. First of all, most wholesalers DO NOT sell to individuals. I'll bet Arnstein has made up some lie about him being a grocery store manager or something in order to have access to the fruit. Second of all, the only wholesaler within 50 miles of where I live (Morrison, IL) claimed that their prices are the same as supermarket prices (???), so the cost savings aren't THAT significant, especially if it requires more auto expenses.

  • @7xomelissamaexo7 I wish I lived near one that did. There probably are some in Rockford, IL, but that's 85 miles away from Morrison, IL. I wish I weren't stuck living where I am, but I would have absolutely no incentive whatsoever to move if it weren't for that fact, and I don't care HOW much some people's health improves, diet all by itself isn't reason enough to up and move to the unknown. It was never my goal to become an elite athlete anyway.

  • Because of your genetics and you lifestyle (buring a TON of carbohydrates running) you can eat this way. This would not be recommended for everyone though. Infants and toddlers need fat for brain development and visual acuity and if you live a sedentary lifestyle then all the excess fructose you consume will be converted into fat because your bodies carbohydrate stores will already be full. THIS DIET IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, thats all i am trying to say here.

  • @SteveSteves11 I agree that humans MAY need a certain percentage of animal foods in the diet, albeit much less than the average westerner is consuming, because of the essential fatty acids. However, humans only need two fatty acids in the diet: omega-3's and omega-6's; all others can be manufactured by the human body. Too much fats and proteins from animals are TOXIC, which is why it makes sense that fruits comprise most of the diet (simple sugars that don't need conversion for energy use).

  • And the reason this guy does not have a ton of "muscle mass" is not because he is protein deficient, it is actually because he runs 200 fucking miles a week..It is nearly impossible to consistently do that much cardiovascular exercise and gain a ton of muscle mass. Fruits and vegetables have enough protein for the average person, and wild fruits from the tropics have more protein and fat than the cultivated and nutritionally diluted fruits we eat.

  • @NWforager Proof? People have been living off fruits and vegetables for thousands of years, what rock do you live under? Plant food is far superior to any processed food including meats and dairy, the proof is in the incredibly high rates of obesity, strokes, heart disease etc.. for people who eat processed foods, dairy and meat. People who eat healthy fruits and vegetables are in better healthy, people who eat raw foods are in even better health than cooked, people who eat processed foods, meat and dairy are dying.

  • If it's working for Mike, Great! Eat what's right for you and listen to your body. I had a Live Blood Cell Analysis done recently and the Specialist who tested me has done this for years. He said BLOOD TYPE As thrive much better as Vegans and Fruitarians. But, he also noticed most fruitariains he tested had higher growth of candida (in the blood which is not good). It should only be in the gut

    but, I'm curious... can this type of diet be promoted on a mass scale?

    as someone also concerned about poverty, both on a local and global level, I wonder about people in India, Africa, and Haiti, and whether it'd be possible to afford to eat massive amounts of fruit like this...

    Anyone have any thoughts on this?

  • @superjoshua7777 on a mass scale, in terms of worldwide its 1 of the only diets that makes sense. Fruit trees produce more calories per acre than any type of plant food and waaaaay more than meat also using much less water.

  • @Semimaru Hmm, very good point! Hmm.. but on that note, how hard would you say it would be to apply that idea to places like the Canadian prairies? I've lived here most of my life, and the only real, legit, stand alone fruit trees I've seen around are crabapple trees. I'm sure there's more around, but I haven't seen them. Do you think a mostly-fruit crop could survive in a mass scale in that type of climate?

  • @superjoshua7777 Nah there are places where fruit will grow well and others not so well. We seem to be adapted to living in the tropics but for whatever reason, maybe overpopulation, our growing intellect or any reason we found ourselves further from "home" (perfect air, water, sunlight, food etc) and found ourselves in areas with less plant food and more need to hunt rather than gather for our daily calories. Thousands of years pass and here we are.

  • @superjoshua7777 I don't think we could mass produce fruit in every country but we wouldn't need to. World hunger is already an issue of how we share and waste our food not that we don't have enough. Starting to add more fruit production over time would simply make thing easier.

    Thankfully with trade those in an area that doesn't produce much local fruit we can still get our hands on it! :-)

  • thats so much food. im a lfrv. but i can't it that much. if idid, i'd be just eating all day long. you never want to overeat either; that causes a lot of problems because the food won't digest and it will just end up fermenting and putrifying as it passes, becoming acid-forming and not benefitting your health. Eat when you hungry. Stop when you feel satisfied. Mono-fruit meals FTW! get enough sleep. and drink enough water. SLEEP, WATER, SUGAR...and love <3 -peace =D

  • @bluesdog88 Humans are capable of eating and digesting meat cooked or raw. The Japanese eat raw fish and it doesn't pose a problem for them. Our teeth is perfectly fine for eating meat. As for running down a gazelle, we just shoot it instead.

    Grass fed organic beef is extremely healthy. Grass fed chicken is healthy too (i dunno if there is such a thing as grass fed chicken). ORganic salmon is extremely healthy.

  • Dr. Atkins followed his low-carbohydrate styled diet strictly, and according to his cardiologist, he had an extraordinarily healthy cardiovascular system. He did have a cardiac arrest due to cardiomyopathy but it was unrelated to his diet. The reason why Atkins weighed 258lbs. or so was because of the retention of water after slipping on ice and hitting his head hard on the ground. Other than that, he was at a healthy weight.

  • @SoooBlue You certainly don't need as much as the fitness/supplement industry tells you. Half of youor current intake would be more than enough.

    If you're on a weights program just eat three 'normal' meals a day, consisting of lots of green veg, healthy carbs (brown rice, sweet potatoes etc) and a healthy lean meat like organic chicken. Fruit is best consumed in the AM or before/after a workout. Bulking up is a myth that will just make you fat.

    Results come from hard physical work, not food.

A "calorie" is not a singular type of nutrient, it's divided into protein, carbohydrates and fats, and within those three umbrella categories there are countless other subdivisions of those nutrients (varying amino acids, simple vs complex carbohydrates, etc). All of these nutrients, sometimes referred to as macro or caloronutrients, have varying effects. Not all calories are created equal.

  • Many comments about a raw fruit and vegetable (mostly greens) diet are that there's too much sugar with all the fruit. Also, that others have tried eating so much fruit and there blood sugar goes up. Yes, that will happen if you also don't eat low fat--under 10%. Fruit and fat do not go together. When eating a diet of mostly fruit, you need to eat fat at the end of the day, after you're finished eating fruit. And small amounts of raw fat. Eaten correctly, fruits & vegs are healthiest!
