@radiozapp Many brands were recalled. I'm finding it shocking that Merrick, Blue Buffalo, among so many others have been recalled even in the last month or two, because of salmonella of all things.
But my dogs have been on raw meat diets for a couple months now, so I'll never have to worry about that.

Because of this recall I started pulling mass market foods off my senior cat's list. They are going to be eating more natural foods. If I eat it, they will too.
This is so sad. I have never trusted those big multinational pet food companies. I feed my dogs on a mixture of Burns nuts (an small Irish company, that has a good reputation) and homemade food. All of those commercial foods and treats are dirt...purina treats are loaded with all sorts of 'E's'. Burns does a treat called Kettles...they look and smell natural, as they should be. I love animals and to see them injured and killed by corporate multinational economic greed makes my blood boil.
This is sad and it happened in 2004 with Pedigree dog foods and Whiskas cat foods manufactured in Thailand by Mars Inc., and again in 2007 with Mars Inc. and a number of other HUGE U.S. food manufacturers. We now realize the same ingredients (melamine and cyanuric acid) are in our food for human consumption.

I now check ingredients on everything. Look it up, some of these dog food companies have been banned from sale in Europe. The Europeans banned the use of these chemicals in food, be it for animals or humans. IT IS BANNED. Check your ingredients first before purchasing shelf products ie. cat/dog food, cereal, soup etc. It's scary to think how much our government just doesn't care. They're making millions off us getting sick. This includes your children & mine.
I know what you went through because I went through it myself. I lost my 8yr dog to stomach cancer. All due to the crap in Purina. Unfortunately, that's all she would eat and it wasn't my aunts dog passed and then mine 2 months later of the same cancer. I researched every ingredient listed, companies are using BHA & DHA. They are chemical ingredients used to preserve the food. Guess what people, they're using it in our food too!

if you watch the dog wisper he sayss its better for your dog if you feed them bones. so trust me i feed my dog bones and she is very happy.

Big Business has poisoned our food. I see babies die from melamine every year. Melamine is in our baby food, too. And Brock999, I hope the ASPCA file a criminal charge against you. I seen dogs being taken away to factories to be butchered, sold to market and even sold to restaurants (esp. fine dining) when consumers buy and consume dog meat. This is all wrong.

This is so sad. I have never trusted those big multinational pet food companies. I feed my dogs on a mixture of Burns nuts (an small Irish company, that has a good reputation) and homemade food. All of those commercial foods and treats are dirt...purina treats are loaded with all sorts of 'E's'. Burns does a treat called Kettles...they look and smell natural, as they should be. I love animals and to see them injured and killed by corporate multinational economic greed makes my blood boil.

This is sad and it happened in 2004 with Pedigree dog foods and Whiskas cat foods manufactured in Thailand by Mars Inc., and again in 2007 with Mars Inc. and a number of other HUGE U.S. food manufacturers. We now realize the same ingredients (melamine and cyanuric acid) are in our food for human consumption.

I am very sorry for your loss. I am disgusted that our government swept this under the rug and now people are at risk. Melamine is in our food! I personally have had kidney like problems for three months now and I am scared. I have been to multiple doctors with no answers and after researching the last few weeks I am wondering if I have eaten melamine.

I now check ingredients on everything. Look it up, some of these dog food companies have been banned from sale in Europe. The Europeans banned the use of these chemicals in food, be it for animals or humans. IT IS BANNED. Check your ingredients first before purchasing shelf products ie. cat/dog food, cereal, soup etc. It's scary to think how much our government just doesn't care. They're making millions off us getting sick. This includes your children & mine.

I know what you went through because I went through it myself. I lost my 8yr dog to stomach cancer. All due to the crap in Purina. Unfortunately, that's all she would eat and it wasn't my aunts dog passed and then mine 2 months later of the same cancer. I researched every ingredient listed, companies are using BHA & DHA. They are chemical ingredients used to preserve the food. Guess what people, they're using it in our food too!
