@nikrolls I was at this filming. No-one complained about being moved round the corner as we knew we might otherwise be in shot. The debate you hear was people deciding whether to move to the other end of the road where we could see better, but be out of shot. At the lunch break, that's what I did. Later a couple of kids got a bit over-excited and David sprinted down the road to talk to them. But he also came over to the fans at the other end after shooting finished. He was absolutely charming.

While I do understand silence on a set (I have been filmed as an extra in a movie), I find it refreshing because some actors I've seen would not go out of their way to do that and yet still say hi to a child.

When i studied for my diploma in TV production one of the first things we learnt is how to deal with the public, its doctor who for fuck sake of course kids are gonna wanna shout for the doctor, thats like putting john barrowman in a room full girls aged 16-30 and asking them not to say anything

Again I'd like to point out that they are NOT my children. I went as a genuine fan and got some filming footage but I respect they have a film to make and a time schedule to keep and the last thing many of us want to do when we see them film is to disrupt their entire filming.

There's nothing wrong with watching, but understanding acting, it can get extremely distracting. But having comotion and screaming is just too much. They have a job to make, and whether people may like this or not, you're delaying them from doing it.

Well, Tennant is still the Doctor for a couple of more stories, and he doesn't want to mar that - or jinx the next set of actors/producers/crew.

The other factor here though is that the mics can pick up the most minute sound - something I learned from being in a film myself (extras are basically totally silent unless told to mumble something, and usually unintelligible to not misdate), so it's the retake costs issue.

But people would listen to Tennant faster than production staff.
