  • Funny thing is Mel Brooks was Jewish.

  • Simply, the best!

  • I remember when I showed this to my dad and he said "what the hell was all that about?" but you could tell in his voice that he enjoyed it.

  • Definetly my favorite part of History of the World.

  • 12 people need to be brought before the Inquisition, and be made to confess their evil ways and accept, and embrace the True Church, or be tortured in a Carnival like atmosphere! Or at lest be used as extra's in a Mel Brooks Musical till their legs fall off!

  • I've got a Mormon advertisement as the featured video. Gee I wonder why?

  • 12 people or over sensitive morons who never have any fun.

  • by 1489 they were not torturing Jews yet, only Conversos and Morisicos suspected of heresy, but still hilarious

  • If only real nuns were that sexy.

  • OK, to flog a dead joke, I didn't expect that guy to start singing like that!!!! XD

  • Wow, the Spanish Inquisition looks delightful!

  • 12 people had a red hot poker shoved up their ass

  • Another of those great Brooks "walk this way" gags at 4.51.

  • @33onlytwin Love the walk this way gag!

  • 12 people need to have ping-pong played with their balls...

"...Let's face it. You can't Torquemada anything!"

  • this is like 10x funnier whenu consider the fact that mel brooks is jewish

  • too many jews jokes. why not muslims?

  • @OfCourseMrGlinko because the Muslims had already been kicked out of Europe by the time of the Inquisition...and Mel Brooks is Jewish and that's his sense of humor

  • Oh my god. I didn't expect this.

  • now i asked in a nice way i said pretty please i bent their ears now ill work on their knees!

  • I used to be a jew then i took a hammer to the knee

  • 12 people need to have their balls used for playing ping-pong with!

  • spain made 12 accounts to dislike this

  • @ClockWorkKairi well, im spanish and y love this video! :D

  • It's better to loose your skull cap than your skull

  • at 1:11....."Mortal Kombat!"

  • Every time I see this the more pissed off I get that there isn't a sequel!

  • @zombiefan011 Yeah man what gives?

  • Mel Brookes, a genius in comedy in many forms.

I need this song as a ringtone.

  • BTW it was the Catholic Church that murdered those people. Used to be a death sentense sinply for not believeing in Chatolisism.

  • @odinfromcentr2: Further, all possible fields of learned excellence, such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, the sciences, all flourished in that "dark time of priestly domination and bigoted superstition", so obviously someone is LYING, and it was the men who slandered both nobleman and priest, King and Pope, imputing to their hands imagined oceans of 'innocent' blood, when their own lurid pens helped create the French Revolution, which shed very REAL oceans of innocent NON-heretical blood.

  • @odinfromcentr2: As regards confiscated property, this too was placed at the disposal of the King. The very existence of the Inquisition, activated in a particular kingdom, was authorized only after the approval by the Pope, BUT AFTER the petitions of the King of that realm. "Freedom of Thought" as snivelling modernists and arrogant liberals imagine it narrowly, may not have existed, but VITALITY of expression was hardly lacking in the literature of Spain in the reign of Philip II.

  • @odinfromcentr2: It is patently false that any accusation was enough to suffice one to be placed in prison, that the accused was never allowed to know or see his accusers, that all rights of legal defense and representation was denied him, or that any testifying against the accused, if found to be a perjurer or calumniator, was not punished themselves accordingly. The CIVIL Authorities decided which punishments, in either case, were to be applied. The Diocesan Bishops also could note the crime.

  • @odinfromcentr2: You "fail to see the good", precisely. You FAIL to see the good in preventing the "religious liberties" which INVADING foriegn Mussulmen exerted by the bloodiest swords, and the craft and treason of their Heretical and JEWISH confederates which were expressed with the strangler's scarf, the assassin's poison, the surrender of cities, the lending of interest, the opening of gates to the hordes of negro and arab mercenaries thirsting for rapine and buggery at daggerpoint. Knave!

  • @odinfromcentr2: "They tortured and murdered people", "THEY", WHO? Did you, TV-besotted infidel, even read the prior posts, which ARE FACTUAL? Not men of the Church, whose role was to pose questions, record responses, and oversee the interrogations, as well as to note recantations and penitence which would also be helpful in suggesting to the servants of the temporal authorities a GRANTING OF CLEMENCY. God is the author of mercy as well as justice. Spare us the falsity that would blot out BOTH

  • I wasn't expecting *this* kind of Spanish Inquisition

  • If Spain was so "intolerant", how is it possible that swarms of ullulating fanatical armies of the Crescent were able to enter the country, with the treasonous aid of the thrice-cursed and utterly despicable brood of vermin that is the so-called Hebrew race? The only intolerance shown was on the part of these two unholy forces of chaos incarnate, that Spain should have been exactly what it was, a prosperous and peaceable (and incidentally, catholic) country. "Enlightened" naves and calumniators!

  • @FatherFilipic

    Cool story bro'

  • It is NOT TRUE that the Inquisition was a purely ecclesiastical tribunal, that it condemned men to death for mere opinions, or that it was men of the Church that passed such sentence. The Holy Office was not founded by any Bull issued by the Pope, nor was it purely the creation of Cardinal Torquemada. It was the creation of the King and the Cardinal together, AS AN INSTRUMENT of the Royal Power, and to protect the people of a country known for its virtues, temperance, and sense of HONOR.

  • At the time the Holfy Office in Spain was assisting these noble and monarchial authorities, the Mohammedans and yehuds had nearly conquered the country, and surely no thoughtful person believes that to preserve the people against a deadly enemy it merely suffices to arrest the enemy and question him, and put to use some hard language and tearful remonstrances. Sermons were not enough to save Spain, not for the fault of the Church and King, but rather, its enemies hardened hearts. Impenitants!

  • Never did any priest or monk of the Holy Office condemn any one of these to death, but the temporal authorities, and ultimately, the Monarch. Against forces which threaten the state and the common good, which UNDOUBTEDLY a common faith and common purpose includes, the sovereign Ferdinand II, over the objections of Isabella of Spain decided to deal with the subversive danger of these perfidious and pernicious heretics, traitors and yehuds. Consider the good that the Inquisition did, not the evil.

  • @FatherFilipic They tortured and murdered people in some of the most brutal ways people have ever been tortured and murdered simply for not being sheeple. I fail to see A. why that ought to be a crime and B. how any good could possibly come out of that. The real traitors were traitors to God, and those traitors were the ones setting people on fire.

  • How the hell is this, and a video of a woman lighting a fart on fire related in any way, shape or form.

  • Haha I'm in 7th grade and we r learning about the Middle Ages and the Inquisition in history class so my history teacher got out his laptop and showed all of us this video. He thought it was funny because it showed how stupid and unfair the Inquisition really was. Haha this video is actually pretty cool especially the nuns :)

  • I love how when they come up from the water they all still have their hats on hahaha

  • I was sitting in a temple

I was minding my own business

I was listening to a lovely Hebrew mass

Then these papus persons plunge in, and they throw me in a dungeon, and they shove a red hot poker up my ass Is that considerate? Is that polite? And not a tube of Preparation H in sight

I'm sitting, plicking chickens and I'm looking through the pickings and suddenly these guys bring down my balls.I didn't even know them and they grabbed me by the scrotum and they started playing ping pong with my b

  • @Lansdenc Oh the agony, oh the shame! To make my privates public for a game!

  • i hate how i've watched all of his movies too much, they're not funny anymore :(

  • It's funny that Mel Brooks, who is Jewish, is playing the grand inquisitor. I love that man.

  • The best scene from History of The World Part 1!

  • Mel Brooks is simply this... A GENIUS!!!!

  • Where are the black people?

  • @Weiszcracker in africa

  • Comment removed

  • sheer genius

  • Isn't it weirrd to think that those Nuns are now probably doing water aerobics in their senior citizen classes?

  • @LibraHorse1 A Monty Python's Spanish Inquistion reference? Nice. If only we could have this song with clips from the Python Inquistion . . .

  • I absolutely LOVE this! My dad showed it to me about 4 years ago just for fun and now that I'm a sophomore (in high school) we're learning about it and I just HAD to search it and watch it again! It always brings a smile on my face and I absolutely LOVE Mel Brooks. :D

  • Never noticed before, but the Jews coming down the slide during the water ballet are wearing tennis shoes.

    Wat.

  • Watched with my dad when I was little

  • "Torquemada – do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada – do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada – do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada (talk him out of) anything!"

  • @quantumwolf75 talk him outta

  • This is one of my favorite movies

Somebody make that into a demotivational, kthxbye.

  • No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

  • Inquisition against Muslims is has tortured Muslims in Spain during the rule of Philip

  • Totally AWESOME! I saw this in the theater upon release and THIS number made this movie an absolute comedy classic. A magnificent surprise! The audience went wild and APPLAUDED & CHEERED when this more than 6.5 minute extravanganza ended. And I was right along with them. Thanks jedi for posting this in the original widescreen; I bought this on video years ago, but it loses so much with the picture cropped.

  • Se llama Mah boi the musical.Hijo el musical

  • Fucking Classics!!!

  • This is my fav part of the movie! :) Thumbs up if you sing this song when you go for a walk! :)

  • Does it really matter whether the video is accurate or not? Its a song from a movie, not a freakin history lesson...

  • and seeing that mel brooks is very jewish and the dancers are gay....really not serious

  • I never noticed this before, but the set is basically taken straight from Piranesis prison drawings. Pretty cool!

  • What does the second jew say? "I'm sittin' flickin' chickens and I'm lookin' throught the pickins' and suddenly thes goyim break down my valls.

I didn't even know them and they grabbed my by the _____ and started playing ping pong with my balls!"

What is the word in the bracket? Please, I want to learn tthe lyrics by heart

  • @Planckstein scrotum

    youre welcome

  • @commander144 Gracias!!!!!!!

  • @Planckstein Scrotum. The technical term for the "balls" they were playing ping pong with.

  • @reboundpants Technically, it's the skin that the testicles are inside.

  • @Planckstein scrotum. i saw this with closed captions

  • Love this video

  • NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISI- Whoops, wrong video.

  • The Spanish Inquisition was a nice place to live, I danced and played slot machines there, shit was great.

  • 11 people lost their skullcaps AND their skulls.

  • I am coughing my brains out from laughing! I LOVE IT! Bearnise, are there any of those delicious raisins left?

  • Only Mel Brooks could turn one of history's darkest moments into a ridiculous musical.

  • @NJburbsSeeker I read a great article where Mr Brooks said there's a serious point to his movies. He said that comedy is a soft springy ball, and you can't throw it against a soft wall, but instead should be the hard, cold wall of reality, and the comedy springs back in a lively way. That's why his comedy addressing issues like fascism (The Producers) and racism (Blazing Saddles) is so classic.

  • @seejay1001 Oh yes he nevery thought any issue was off limit to talk about or laugh at, and he did it brilliantly.

  • @NJburbsSeeker Absolutely True and best comment by far! Well said :)

  • @JediMasterCheryl Thank you Cheryl if I ever have to teach a world history coarse I shall include this film.

  • @NJburbsSeeker and get away with it

  • Can't wait until we go over this in class... :P

  • My Global teacher showed us this LOL

  • @BPR0421 can i say worlds BEST global teacher?

  • Superb and very very clever. I love it. I watched this film along with Blazing Saddles as a teenager so many times and it is still fresh and funny today as it was then.

  • priceless ^^

  • 11 people will forever burn in hell

  • if mel brooks wasen't jewish like none of his stuff would be liked at all

  • I SURE MEL BROOKS!!!

  • NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUI- Oh wait, I'm in the wrong video. My bad.

  • and not a tube of preparation H in sight!

  • I knew it! That IS David Lee Roth!!! ("Who knows Torq? You might wina buck!") Check it out haha

  • put it in the car. LOL

  • We need a History of The World part 2

  • Yes, Brooks IS Jewish! On a historical note, had Brooks NOT done this, Roman Catholics and the Vatican would have been able to whitewash this out of the history books. Not many REALLY know about the real inquisition. "...send in the Nuns..."

  • "let's face it... you CAN'T 'torquemada' anything...!" =D =D =D

  • 11 peoples asses were catered up

  • Mel Brooks makes catholics fun

  • i saw this in skool

  • @cyberslayer002 As someone who has graduated with a history degree, who gives a shit? Brooks isn't proposing that this is in any way accurate.

  • @mjoewehrman Yes it is just bloody good fun. I loved it then, I love it now. Stuff the PC brigade.

  • @cyberslayer002

Yes, I'm pretty sure that the inquistors didn't tap dance. Honestly what about this scream "This is supposed to be historically accurate?"

  • @cyberslayer002 There's this strange thing called comedy

  • "Je-Je-Je-Je-Jews" Oh man!

  • Phail

  • 1:52 Is when the awesome begins.

  • put it in the car

  • @hkfle44 *whispers to the next guy* In the car.

  • World History ll will never be the same, and sadly I started to sing this in class and people just looked at me

  • 6:04 click over and over again

  • Seeing this again after finding out about Hetalia, I can just imagine a certain extra person dancing around in the background.

  • @alan78456able even better that mel brooks is Jewish himself

  • i'm still waiting for a Brooks version of 'Gaza- the Musical', just to shut up all those whiners...

  • I bet the Jews would never have minded the torture one bit if the Spannish Inquisition was anything as jolly as this.

  • Human history and some moments in the world are full of so much horror that the only sane thing to do is to mock it and laugh.

  • Mel Brooks knows what he's doing. He decides.

  • this is horrible and hysterical at the same time

  • the church murdered and tortured perhaps a million during the inquisition. Jews, good priests, and anyone who dared to challenge the church, eg the flat earth theory.

The churches history is one of mass murder and terrorism over the ages. May Allah have mercy on its victims, and may allah remove the vatican from the face of the earth. Our enemies can also be our friends

  • @bisexismorefun The last time the church killed was hundred of years ago when the people running it weren't hardly real christians to begin with. The church had the kind of power that congress has today. This drew a lot of people who wanted the political power and didn't care about spreading god's word so much as making themselves more powerful. Things have changed, the Catholic church doesn't murder anyone last I checked.

  • @TheWellMaster4105 Just chill and enjoy the show. zzzzzzzzzzz

  • @bisexismorefun The Inquisition wasn't carried out by the church. It was the Spanish government.

  • @Tolstoy111 which was run by the catholic church...

  • @moloci21 Uum no it wasn't. They were at loggerheads all the time. If the Church tried to get into a war with the Spanish Goverment of the day they would have lost bg time.

  • 9 people have no taste in real comedy.

  • MEL IS KING...nay HE IS GOD.

  • Mel Brooks is a genius. I love all of his movies!

  • Comment removed

  • Time index 3:55 rules.

  • The inquisition is here and it's here to stay!

  • "Send in the Nuns!!!!"

Brilliant, no but Mel could think of that! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

  • i just noticed that the sparkler scene was filmed with the nuns going into the water and they reversed the film to make it look like they where coming out of the water. Notice the smoke flowing back into the sparklers. Don't know why i didn't notice before.

  • You can just see it in his eyes, he's having as much fun making this movie as we are enjoying it

  • damn! it would of been funnier to see people getting tortured instead

  • its good to be the king

  • I hate it when people use the word epic...

    But this is FUCKING EPIC!

  • WHAT THE HELL DID I WATCH

  • @KASHIV12 You just watched the peak of American comedy. One of the beauties of America is the ability to escape your ethnic history and look at the concept of ethnicity and religious belief as the silly farce it is. The U.S. is a wonderful country, it saved me from being Italian and gave me room to become my own kind of Yankee that I feel good with and to hell with anyone else.

  • @TalksWithDirt Dude I watched bullshit, do you know what the Spanish Inquisition was. What you said is like saying that the Holocause is comedy. Many innocent Jewish people were tortured and killed in the Spanish Inquisition. What you said, was absolute bullshit. I have no patient for anyone who thinks something so horrifying as the Spanish Inquisition was the peak of American comedy. THE ONLY THING FUNNY ABOUT THIS VIDEO WAS 6:05, NOTHING ELSE.

  • @KASHIV12 But don't you see you're the comedy, people like you are the reason Mel Brooks made comedy. Listen to you "Many innocent Jewish people were tortured and killed in the Spanish Inquisition." Yes, and so were Islamics and non-believers. Notice how you don't mention that, hell you'd probably do it TO them if given a chance. Maybe you already do. I don't know your nationality, but if you're an American get over yourself and stop acting like the people Mel Brooks is making fun of.

  • @TalksWithDirt I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN TO SIT HERE AND ARGUE ABOUT WHY MEL BROOKS MADE THIS CRAP ASS MUSICAL WITH A FUCKING MORON LIKE YOURSELF. SHUT UP.

  • @KASHIV12 No you don't, you just have nothing to say. Or, you're angry because you know you're just the type of person Mel Brooks and the rest of the sane world is making fun of in this bit, but you just can't get over it when the joke lands so squarely on yourself. Watch out, looks like you hit the caps lock key instead of the shift when you started your ... what looks like a rant. Peace and .... Merry Christmas.

  • @TalksWithDirt Merry Christmas

  • @KASHIV12 Mel Brooks is jewish for one thing. Another thing to point out would be a Mel Brooks quote (not exactly the quote, but close enough) "the best way to get back at people like hitler is to portray them in a ridiculous manner"; thats what he's doing: making fun of the people who organized the spanish inquisition for their intolerance.

  • @modernwarfare9009 I GET IT, THE VIDEO IS FUNNY, BUT I AM SAYING IT OFFENDS A LOT OF PEOPLE INCLUDING JEWISH PEOPLE, THE PART WHERE THEY HAVE JEWISH PRISONERS SINGING AND THE NUN SWIMERS STANDING ON THE GIGANTIC MENORAH. GIVE IT A REST YOUTUBE IS FOR FREE EXPRESSION AND THATS WHAT I DID, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, IGNORE IT.

  • @KASHIV12 if you can't laugh at one of the best clips EVER, please, turn off the computer and live in solitary.

  • @KASHIV12 Umm... The guy playing Torquemada, Mel Brooks, is Jewish. You realize this, right?

  • I can't say I was expecting that.

  • @CapyGuy No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

  • @wesker888 Someone called the Spanish Inquisition?! *TAN TAN*

  • @wesker888 i did

  • You can't Torquemada anything.

  • 5:30 second from the left, brad pitt's brother.

  • I like HIstory of the World, but I fucking LOVE this sequence. This alone makes it worth owning on Blu-ray and not just DVD.

  • I really want a History of the world part 2 :(

Mel Please find it in your heart to make me laugh again like i did during this film

    <3 This Movie

  • @tovarishvlad clearly u have no understanding of catholic beliefs in its clear that you are ignorant. I suggest you think before you start throwing out nonsense and lies

  • @vithum Yeaah! if someone saw this video, you would think that all Catholics do is think about torturing jews to make them convert. They also think about self flaggelation and sleeping on the floor in the nude... and having sex with little boys.
