  • I like the percussion in this version best!

  • @leonard316 Yeah I love this version for so many reasons, it just feels like a proper tune compared to the arcade version.

  • @Otouto72 I played the genesis version of this game first andI really can say I was a little let down at the arcade version of this song. It's not bad at all just not as exciting as this version. This sounds like its time to do werk, son!

  • @leonard316 I played the ZX Spectrum version first (having no idea it was an arcade game) and I loved that version of Wilderness, one of my personal favourite tunes in fact, then I discovered the arcade version and that it was crap compared to the Spectrum version (forgive me I was 8), then I heard this and was blown away by it, this is an amazing version of Wilderness.

  • @Otouto72 I can totally relate. Thanks again for posting this.It really does bring back good memories.

  • @leonard316 No problem, that's one reason I upload these videos - the memories. =)

  • 56 comments and 56 favorites... make that 57 :)

  • @SmashLuigiFan1 I'm honestly gomsmacked with the response some of my videos get, when I started this almost three years ago I would have been pleased as punch to get 100 views in any of my videos and would have been over the moon to get 50 subs. Safe to say I'm one of the lucky ones, all I do is share my passion for video game music.

  • does anybody know where I can download this song?!

  • i have no nostalgic base of this game, but i like this version over the arcade :D

  • @y2k4ever1 Yeah I loved this version more, this is just fantastic.

  • Me traz mtas lembranças do tempo de moleque.... ^^

  • just about 3 minutes of roid rage induced progress on homework.

The song just makes homework seem important, like it actually has a purpose... which it really isn't

  • @Pryysmite Hahahaha yeah I used to put on games just for the music which would help me out with homework myself, you actually looked forward to homework knowing that you were listening to great music. =)

  • Mmman..... :) memories..... I remember playing this when I was 10. I'm 28 years old now.

  • @MaxxPainX5 That's one reason I made this channel - memories =) I'm 28 next month and I too must have played this when I was about 9 or 10 on my friend's Mega Drive and now I have it for a Mega Drive I do own. Great game, always prefered this to the arcade game for some reason.

  • @MaxxPainX5

Same.. I still fire up the emulator once in a while.. I sware 80 and 90's games are where its at.

More about gameplay instead of shiney gfx..

  • @Pappy55 It was a special time in those days, care free gaming at its finest, there were obvious limitations but we neither noticed nor cared, nowadays they expect perfection and it usually fails on its ass as a result.

  • @Otouto72 couldnt agree more! check out the streets of rage remake (no im not a promoter) it just kicks the crap out of any new game out there.

  • It's like I was a child again for 3 minutes and 06 seconds..... @_@

  • @fun2010K Apologies for the late-ish response but your comment was "marked as spam" and I've just noticed it now to unmark it. Yeah even I get a rush of nostalgia when I hear this tune....and I still have this game!

  • Love this game i was only a child, I used to be play with my brother.

Bring back to the good times :´(

  • @BoyCharlieN1 I love this game, maybe more than the arcade version in fact. Everything about it was so cool.

  • This reminds me of those blue little bastards that always dropped more vials than i could carry.

  • Que GRANDE!!!

  • Yes because back then, they had "composers" create the soundtrack specifically for the game.

Too many American companies use trashy radio music for the games (burnout anybody?). It's fine for some, but there's a real lack of originality.

Too bad the Rare games company is no more either (thanks MS)...

The Japanese however, still make games with original music. They understand video games a lot better.

Capcom, Konami, SEGA, Namco. Still going strong. Keep supporting them people. Fuck EA.

  • @ExtremeBogom What about Nintendo? They keep making games with original music.

    -KT

  • @kibjohn

I just realised Rare doesn't count, as It ain't Nintendo :p.

    My mistake.

  • EPIC

  • @Fido2011 Totally! I love this better than the arcade version for some reason, don't know why but I absolutely love this!

  • @Otouto72 I can tell you why:

    (1) Slightly slower tempo = gives it a groovier felling;

    (2) Hardware Limitation/Polyphonic Censorship = this bring out the best of melody and harmony;

    (3) Pop Rhythmic Arrangement = snappy snare 'pops' on 2 & 4, punchy 'kicks' on 1 & 3 + extra groov'n placements.

    (4) Killer Synth Bass Rearrangement = just plain groovier especially on 31 - 33 & 45 - 47.

For these same reasons, one would like the 'Game Over' theme from Altered Beast better on the Megadrive.

  • When my dad would play this game with his buddy, if one of them hit the other by accident in the game, sometimes they would fight in real life! Excellent game with excellent music.

  • @matkovicha HAHA the joys of gaming! XD Yeah I've seen friendships severely tested due to gaming. In the back of my mind I'm always saying to myself "its only a game" lol! Yeah this is fantastic! I love the Mega Drive version better than than the arcade version!

  • Classic game, too damn hard though! Personally, I liked Golden Axe II better, but everyone has their own opinions. =)

  • @DieCobros I love Golden Axe II. I like the third one too! This is deadly on single player, best with two players but even then its still very difficult!

  • Dat dwarf, man. Dat dwarf.

  • @RobBobtron Oh yeah Gilius Thunderhead's my hero! I'm trying to grow a massive beard like his but I'm not succeeding. I wonder what his tips were =D

  • This song sounds like a funeral for fallen brethren in battle, and they will later get redemption later on to those who have slain them and others in your path you would slice down and slay as well...fucking bad ass!

  • @BarbariansRage Haha that sounds just about right! =) Yeah your right this is bad ass! I prefer this to the Arcade version actually, am I insane or am I justified?

  • @Otouto72 You are justified. Genesis version has a leg up on the arcade in this case.

  • @bruhaha69 *pats back* but can be insane also? =) I'm kidding! =) Yeah the Mega Drive version for me sounded more raw which suited the gameplay, I don't know why but I think the addition of a beat helps in this version.

  • This track feels incomplete without:

    *slash slash thump thump* "AUUUAUUGH!"

  • @teqrevisited I know the feeling having just got myself a Mega Drive once more with this included!

  • @Otouto72 yeah man me too, it was the first game i bought and i bought it together with this game, what an AMAZING time and feeling...

  • @SpiritMolecule1 It was a special time back then and even playing the games now is just as special!

  • @Otouto72 damn right, nothing will beat those times and games, the music especially was brilliant back then, games these days have shitty music mostly

  • @SpiritMolecule1 Nowadays its soundtracks with C-rated bands! The old music was the best! I started this channel out of a passion for video game music and so we can be able to relive golden memories like this and share them!

  • @Otouto72 you are right, the music in games now BLOWS! thanks for uploading this man!

  • @SpiritMolecule1 You are welcome dude! =) Enjoy the memories!

  • @Otouto72 thanks man =)

  • @teqrevisited not forgetting the female death crys :P

  • @teqrevisited i know the screams of the defeated warriors are just spine chiling AAAAUUUGGH!!!!!

  • @teqrevisited There death screams were so awesome RAAAAAWWWWUGHH!!!

  • @teqrevisited pmsl that made me laugh the scream was so funny

  • I miss these themes like nuts. *moves head*

  • technically arcade or remake theme are better, but this simple one simply brings us memories

  • i think this the best version of the song 5/5

  • I actually prefer this to the Arcade version myself. I love this version to bits.

  • @RetroGameDemon

    Agree

  • My ringtone

  • @PalloneWafer

good idea im gonna copy u

  • Owns

  • Awesome tune!

  • I always prefered the Mega Drive version of Wilderness to the Arcade version, perhaps because I play the Mega Drive version first. The music on the Mega Drive normally appears weaker than it's counterparts but not Golden Axe.

  • Yeah, I never actually played Golen Axe on any other system so that makes the Mega Drive version special to me. And very nice collection of game music you have there :)

  • Well I just try that's all. Thanks for the compliment I appreciate it.

  • Yes! =D
