I am glad you posted your experience for the world to view. I have been androgynous all my life. I learned my masculinity from my father, uncles, cousins and older brothers.
Here in America in the Mid-West it really hard to find people who are androgynous or even know what it really is and I can say the same thing about the gblt community here.
I am also a vegetarian , but while I am in college and only working part-time I find myself eating a burger even now and then when I run low on $
I know you say you don't condone smoking, and that's obviously because it's shit for your health, and obviously you don't give a shit about your health..
But, being a vegan for animal rights purposes and smoking is being a total hypocrite. In order to test your cigarette, dogs and monkeys have hole cut into their throat and are forced to constantly smoke to study the different cancers and diseases they get. So you don't support eating Betsy the cow, but you're okay with killing Lucky the dog?
@blinkme478 Thank you for reserving judgement until you actually know me. /sarcasm
I am aware that cigarettes, and EVERYTHING, from carpet cleaner to water, have at some point been tested on animals. I am aware that smoking cigarettes is a fault of mine. Smoking is a load of shit. It is inhaling poison. After making this video, I decided to not smoke in my videos either, which I had been doing in order to feel relaxed enough for the video. I have been trying hard to quit for a long time.
@openheartzoo I wasn't trying to offend you. The first comment wasn't myself btw, my sister sometimes uses my account. Although I am a fan of yours, I was just shocked that that was something you do. I used to smoke and I didn't quit because it's inhaling death, I quit because I decided to stop supporting something that's unethical. I wasn't bitching at you, I was just wondering why you were still smoking- I was confused :P
@openheartzoo I'm sure you will get there. Don't feel that bad though; nearly everyone has had something they wanted to or are trying to quit. I gave up meat, then fish, and now I'm trying to become vegan, which has been the most difficult. Not too bad though since I've always disliked eggs and milk has become revolting to me. Anyway, point is we all have something, something to quit, or some kind of vice. And as you said you stopped smoking in videos and that's progress. :]
I know that probably isn't how you did yours. I heard back combing doesn't do much and other ways are very harmful to your hair. Just trying to find the best way.
The only thing is i know that neglect tAkes years before they mature.
@stormylife13 I backcombed mine... it depends how patient you are. Backcombing, with a little maintenance, some palm rolling, root rubbing, etc. works well, but takes about six months to look like actual dreads and takes a good two years to look mature. I believe it's certainly the most common way for those with non-african hair types, but different methods are used for african hair types, of which neglect is one that works well.
@stormylife13 Hi thar! If you search "how to make dreads without wax" you should find some thingsss. Patience and cleanliness make good dreads! Using wax or other sticky products in them will make them a bit ratty and a bit mouldy and a bit crap. Good luck!
@openheartzoo Thank you for your reply. I have looked at the internet and almost everyone is saying the French are rude people, do not like Americans, it's horrible to live in Paris, it always rains and there is no sunshine, the apartments are tiny and Americans have to pay eight months worth to get one, and so on and so forth. We would try to learn French by Rosetta Stone but obviously we would mainly learn by living there. Why is everyone so negative about moving to Paris? I don't get it!
@LitZena Paris is to France what London is to the UK - If you go to any big city crammed with tourists, you'll find that the locals are rude to tourists, which is understandable. Paris, like London, is romanticised and cheapened by the sheer number of people who have no understanding of what the city actually is, beyond its media image. It's true of Europe in general that houses and apartments are smaller, and it's particularly true of Paris that an apartment can be ridiculously expensive.
@openheartzoo However, the French are not rude people. If you speak to them in French and show an understanding of and empathy with French culture, you won't find them to be rude. There are also plenty of places in France which are much, much nicer than Paris. Paris doesn't represent the rest of France at all. The south of France, for example, is known for being slightly more laidback than the north and I agree with this.
@LitZena Most importantly, France is a country you really have to know your shit about before you move here. Thinking it's beautiful and the accent is nice just isn't enough. They're very proud of their country, and rightly so and while they're not generally unkind or rude, they're also not one of those countries that receives foreigners with overwhelming gratitude. They will be blunt and they'll tell you repeatedly, "You're in France, now" if you don't align yourself with the culture sharpish.
We are a vegan American family who wants to move to France..we speak no French but are fascinated in the city and bored with America. Can we just get an apartment and wala?? What steps do we take oh and I hate cheese but love French people, the way they talk is aweome and the city looks beautiful in pics. Please help us with info,
@LitZena Well, if you're planning on staying longer than a couple of months, you'd need a visa. It may be difficult to get an apartment without speaking French, I'd recommend learning a little bit before you leave, because the French do NOT like it if you speak English to them without at least trying to speak French first, and most of them do not speak any English beyond a meagre high school level. The main difference with food is that you don't have any of the fake meat products, like...
@LitZena quorn, etc. If you like your vegan sausages/pies/bacon, etc, there's none of that, at least not readily accessible. I've had to alter my diet quite a lot since being here, to make up for the lack of products aimed at vegans, but it's by no means difficult or impossible, it's just a bit of a shock, my body has changed in some ways because of the diet change. It may be harder if you have to feed a whole family. Overall, the first thing to do is learn some French!
salut! i can't tell you how good it is to hear someone confirm that most people who say that it's impossible to be vegan in france aren't actually even vegan! :) thanks for smashing a big wodge of stereotypes with this video. i'm looking forward to living in france, so it's good to know that people there are a bit less narrow-minded & rigid than they're often portrayed to be. stay you! :)
1:43 more beautiful than Bob Marley himself. pass that spleeeeefff man, hey my new video starts out with me smokin a J too. when i am done watching this i'll upload.
Very helpful, thank you! I was thinking about studying abroad when go off for school and I curious what the bathroom situation was looking like in France. Not having to seek out specialty stores will be a welcome change. I'm still a bit worried word endings but oh di well, most likely always will be.so, yes, quite nifty to view a video from a genderqueer vegan in France, thanks again and good luck to you.
If you have anything practical to say, anything you'd prefer to see, you can tell me and I'll certainly consider it, though I'm not a perfectionist and I like my videos as they are. Since you're a subscriber, and not a passer-by, I'd like to kindly ask you to be less rude, remind you that I didn't ask you to subscribe and that nothing on the planet is less intimidating than the threat of unsubscription.
