Burg What's the best Compressor you played? Looking to go Empress, Wampler, or Diamond. I had a Keeley Analogman and Cmatmods but wanted to know what you thought
Hi again Burg ive narrowed my decision to two delay pedals, the empress vintage modified super delay or the empress super delay, I was wondering what were the differences bewteen them? and which one you think is better? Im also on the lookout for a compressor and wanted to ask for your opinion on the empress compressor or any other you compressor you would recommend me on getting, thanks again for the help, regards from Costa Rica!!
Cool... will ferret it out. Still plan to do a mini-DVK demo of my own.. sorry for not getting that done. No excuses, I suck. I have ordered a humbucker from your bud Mick tho... partial redemption? ;-)
@3dsman Hey Keith. Yes, I have done a demo for The Elements. You'll find it on the PGS Channel. Maybe I should cut one for this channel too. Cheers, B.
very nice board!!! love your vids as always. what brand of patch of cables are you using in your board? Are they solderless? By the way, I would love to see a Joe Meek Floor Q Compressor demo. Maybe it can trump the Empress Comp...
@luizfloripa Phase and Uni-Vibe before dirt really emphisizes some different frequencies compared to running it after dirt. It can be very vocal and wah-like and give you a great mid-range growl...especially a vibe pedal running into a fuzz. It violates the basic wah->comp->dirt->mod->time convention but it sounds amazing. Not that I'm a monster like Burgs, but I made the switch to phase before dirt about 3 years ago and never looked back.
Yeah so I just basically said this in another video like 10 minutes ago but I love and hate you because you sell me on so many pedals. My Carvin Legacy loves to work with pedals so it makes me want them all!!!
Hi! Very nice sounds... i also have a Hiwatt (a DR-103 head with SE4123 cab) but can't find a good sounding overdrive for it.. i have a ZVEX box of rock and a Tubescreamer, but both sound harsh and too compressed through the hiwatt. I mainly play a strat. What do you suggest? Also do you bridge channels? Thanks!
@OverJam52 Heheh. Most people would prefer I didn't talk at all! But I'll take what you've said (very kindly, thank you) on board and consider that option for future vids. Cheers, BK.
@Burgerman666 I know, but if I may allow myself, screw those people Burgs, music is not just about machines and electronics and cold gear, you play with your heart and soul before you play with your fingertips or start stomping on metal boxes. Need to bring back some humanity to those vids ;-)
@Burgerman666 The talking is for the product reviews. This video is here to show off the application, effects in the chain and what you personally use. This pedal board is INCREDIBLY versatile and useful in my (probably worthless) opinon; top stuff!
hey burga. would really appreciate it if you replied. In your opinion what is the best tonebender mkII clone. Plz don't say D*A*M, it's really good but it is way too expensive and hard to get. thanks heaps
@leddeath80 The best Tonebender clone, eh? Well, I haven't tried a D*A*M of any description but the best TB clones I've tried to date would come from three different parts of the world - Lumpy's Toneshop in the US, Fuzzfaceless in the UK and Klinger Custom Pedals over here in Australia. The Klingers are my numero uno faves at the moment. Thanks for writing!
@leddeath80 Do a search for Klinger Custom Pedals and consult with Shaun whom I'm sure will be happy to build you the Tonebender of your dreams for a lot less than some of the OS competition.;)
Hi Burgs, real flexible and juicy sounds from this pedalboard: could you show us from the beginning how you "built" this (from pedals positioning, to cable connection, to power)? As We stay there with you step by step.
I HATE the slow description in the bottom of the video...i have to watch each video twice because i want to read it...but i goes so slow that i'm waiting in anticipation for the next word and forget to actually watch the video! So i have to watch it again to see which pedals you turn on and off etc! I guess i'm just a bad multi-tasker!!
Alright Burg. My address is,,, :D Btw, thanks to you I'm really enjoying the AMT electronics SS-20 preamp. Could you possibly do a review of Blackstar Amplifiers? HT-5 would be great.
@sportsportsport I like the Empress because it doesn't alter the guitar's tone at all (at least, perceivably). I like it because it has a simple 3-way ratio toggle and because it has input and output controls as well as a clean blend knob. The Ego has most of these features as well but there's just something about the Empress that makes it my first choice at the moment. Another good one is the Maxon Real Tube Limiter/Comp.
@bassmangarrett151 One does a Soldano and the other does a Triple Rectifier. Sonically they're pretty different. Brian or someone from the Wampler crew might like to chip in here..?
@Karinmakoto I love fuzz like you guys, but this board was built for a specific set of gigs over the next few weeks with a band that doesn't do fuzz. Otherwise, I'd be happy to go out with the Klingers and a delay. And that would be it. :) But you've gotta pack the tools for the job. Know what I mean?
@Burgerman666 Hehe it was a joke anyways. That's a mighty board though. Greetings from Istanbul by the way, still in process of making that fuzz i promised you
I love Empress too! I have the VM Super Delay and the Para EQ on my board. I gotta say the compressor and phaser sound great too, as do the Wamplers and the Wilson Wah! Nice variety of sounds on their man.
Hi forgot to ask where you roughly have your amps EQ for gigs and your clips? I still got your E6 lovepedal by the way what a cracker MickB tries to get it from me all the time hehe!!.
@shfnderrock I've been gigging this board with a '65 Twin RI because they're easily hireable around these parts as backline. HIWATT's are a little scarce due to the asking price. The Twins are cool, though, and I run the pedal board straight to the Normal channel with all tones at 6. I back the bass off a little if I'm using the PRS because it has serious bottom end.
@shfnderrock I use Providence cables mostly, because they sent me a heap of them and they're fantastic. Other than that, I'll run with Mogami/Neutrik gear if I can get it. Anything that's decent quality is cool with me.
Is it comfortable for you that the drives are in the back row? I usually prefer my drives in the front row and the delay/modulation in the back row, even if I have to stretch some cables...
@GuitarBoy888 Yeah, I hear you on that one. The Elements is down front, though, and it is getting a LOT of the work - I wish I had two or three of them actually.

A phase pedal sounds best in the effects loop for clean. For distorted sounds it sounds best before dirt pedals or dirty amp.
