This name cames only from Kurds and yes Omar khorshid is egyptian but of kurdish origin, they are asimilated kurds. maybe his family lived there for 500 years ago so he's an egyptian but of kurdish origin.. just like the famous director Ali Badr Khan is of kurdish origin too even himself admitted it.. p.s im very proud and dont need to steal others heritage like you arabs, being kurds is not a crime !!

Many Kurds and also Circassians and Turks went to Egypt. His family would have been amongst the Kurds who immigrated a long time ago. He's completely Egyptian without a doubt, regardless.

The instrumentation is Egyptian I have no doubt about that.The guitar is specific to North Africa and played also in the Arab world I recognise it but I have forgotten what is called.
