  • whats the difference between xmp3i and xpm3?

  • @interfan63

Great question. The XMP3 was a Pioneer brand portable XM radio, the XMP3I is the same radio under the Audiovox brand. There is no difference in the radio itself. Same specs, same recording capabilities, same everything.

The new model is compatible with the "PowerConnect" system for connecting to a radio through the FM modulator.

The new model also costs less than the old one did.

New model is in stock and waiting for you as I write this.

  • does it auto record when the radio is off?

  • @interfan63

Yes, indeed it does. If you have set a timer based recording, it will turn itslf on and record for you.

Sure would make a great stocking stuffer!

  • When this works it is really feature loaded, very undependable though (I've had three replaced under vendors extended warranty)

Please if you want to also play MP3's buy an Ipod instead.

This unit will recognize & play MP3's but it pauses 20-30 seconds between any fast fwd, rewind, skip to another song. ALL 3 of my XMP3 EVEN my newest the "XMP3-i " (current version) will not play MP3's without pausing 30 seconds between picking a song and playing it. if you don't believe me-KEEP YOUR RECEIPT

  • @micka417 which one was better for you xmp3i or xmp3?did it worth $100 difference?

  • @interfan63 if you need/want the "power connect" feature then yes the xmp3i is the one for you.

The other feature I thought would help also is the USB charging added to the XMP3i--- BUT--- it charges in "PC mode" which means you can't listen to it while its USB charging, which turned me off.

***Update**** the newest firmware update helped the "SLOW MP3" issues alot (not perfect but much better)

  • one question, can i play a radio channel from afghanistan on sattelite radio?

  • @afghans4eva

For XM or Sirius programming info, you can find complete programming guides on both of their websites. (sorry, can't link you to them in these comments).

Also, satellite radio is not available in Afghanistan.

    Hope that helps,

  • Hi fsuarez,

Well, yes and no. You can get the XMP3, and listen to the same music as Sirius, and with the best of Sirius package you could also listen to most sports, news, and talk from Sirius on your XM receiver.

However, you must subscribe to XM, not Sirius. The new merged SiriusXM has not yet combined their two customer care centers and databases. That means they still are separate in that regard.

  • hi i have Sirius subscription can i get this and use it with Sirius or do i have to subscribe to xm

  • THIS THING IS A PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. You WILL have problems with it! I have gone through 3 of them in 6 months! You go through hoops to send this piece of shit back, and they 'download' some crap to it and send it to someone else (or vice versa) as a 'referbished' radio. Then it may work for a week or two and it will do the same thing. Do this for a year until the warrenty expires/ you give up. And you're out 300 dollars + the service charge. Pioneer SUCKS.

  • Dear Vip0rxz

    ,

Sounds like youre having an unusually tough time with your XMp3 (generally, our customers love their XMp3s, so its extra surprising).

If you bought it from Crutchfield, please get in touch with our customer service directly. Well try to work with you and Pioneer to iron this out.

If you didnt buy from us, talk to the retailer you worked with maybe theyre also willing to support you to solve the problem.

    Good luck.

  • did not know that needs a subscription...thought you just buy the device and you all set

  • I replaced my old Inno with the XMP3 and I am very impressed. This blows Sirius' Stiletto2 out of the water.

  • Anthony,

According to XM's website, you can pay with a credit card, they can electronically take money from your checking account, or you can receive invoices and pay them with a check or money order.

If you choose invoice billing, you'll pay an extra $2 per invoice.

You can also use pre-paid service cards, available at Crutchfield.

No contracts, that's my favorite part. You are not committed to subscribe for any length of time like the cell phones.

    Crutchfieldtv

  • do you have to have a credit card to get a satellite radio?? if you do reply..

  • Hi goldenflake,

The internal antenna is fine for in-car use if you are in a major city with a strong terrestrial repeater network, such as D.C. NYC, LA, etc.

If you aren't near any repeaters, and the antenna has to be able to "see" the satellites, it won't be as good in the car.

An XMp3 Car Kit is recommended, it includes a cradle, antenna, power connection, audio connection, and remote control.

    Hope that helps,

    CrutchfieldTV

  • You don't tell us if the built in antenna is any good. Is it necessary to use an external antenna when you are in the car?

Is it possible to use the internal antenna in the car without having to set up the exteral antenna?

  • yeah the pioneer xmps is nice to bad all the sirius xm programing now SUCKS!!!!
